- Full Western Movie, Full Length Cowboy Film, English, 1955: White Feather (original title), Rated 6, Runtime 1h 42min, History, Western.
White Feather is a 1955 Technicolor CinemaScope western film directed by Robert D. Webb and starring Robert Wagner. The movie was filmed in Durango, Mexico. The story is based on fact; however, the particulars of the plot and the characters of the story are fictional.
In 1877 Wyoming, during the peace negotiations between the Cheyenne and the USA, an Indian girl falls in-love with a land surveyor, causing the ire of her Cheyenne fiance.
Director: Robert D. Webb (as Robert Webb)
Writers: Delmer Daves (screenplay), Leo Townsend (screenplay)
PLOT (Wikipedia): The story of the peace mission from the US cavalry to the Cheyenne Indians in Wyoming during the 1870s. The Cheyenne agree to leave their hunting grounds so that white settlers can move in to search for gold. Colonel Lindsay (John Lund) and land surveyor Josh Tanner (Robert Wagner)[n 1] are in charge of the resettlement, but the mission is threatened when Appearing Day (Debra Paget),[n 1] the sister of Little Dog (Jeffrey Hunter) and fiancé of Cheyenne tribesman American Horse (Hugh O'Brian), falls for Tanner. When Appearing Day runs away to join Tanner at the fort, American Horse follows and while he is captured, he is later freed by Little Dog and the two ride off to the hills. Tanner, Col. Lindsay and a troop of soldiers go to the Cheyenne camp where Chief Broken Hand (Eduard Franz) has agreed to sign a peace treaty. After the signing, a warrior rides up and throws down a knife with a white feather attached, a declaration of war by American Horse and Little Dog against all the soldiers. Tanner convinces the Chief to allow the matter to be resolved between themselves.

Every Saturday was western’s day . Watched western’s all day . Rifleman , gun smoke or a Clint Eastwood western . Miss the easy days of the 1970’s .
Love these old westerns there none like them anymore. I was born in front of little black and white tv and I loved these back then and today
Good to have you among us
That’s why I watch the westerns and other old tv shows more than anything else. Most of everything on tv today is junk.
i was only 10 yrs old when i watched this movie in 1955 in Manila, Philippines and i was able to watched again after 65 yrs as of October 28, 2020!!
🍁 I am 10% native, Born on traditional Blackfoot Land, at Calgary, AB CA. There are 9 First Nation bands in Alberta. Including, Siksika, Piikani, Kainai, Iethka Stoney Nakoda, Chiniki, Bearspaw. Good Stoney, and Tsuut'ina . Although I have never considered myself Native (Scots-English) I carry that small 10% with some pride. And was even born on September 22 the same day the meetings began at, Blackfoot Crossing. Where Treaty # 7, was signed. Although this is a movie and Cannot really tell the whole story, It still brought a tear to this old Calgarians Eye. My British father also taught me to fish and hunt. And respect the land. 🍁🌄
This is one of the most true and fantastic movies of all time. I have always had the most up most respect for the American Indian people. 🇬🇸 Australia
Me too
Excellent! The tenderness Robert Wagner displayed to Little Dog at the end was amazingly touching.

The pride of indigenous people will live on... Forever...
Until the sun destroys the earth, or we nuke each other to extinction
Indeed.. as it should. Such a Beautiful and spiritual culture. Mad respect.
I feel the actors was using brownface...
i can't believe back in many many years ago the indians where treated so mean God bless us all. Amen

Yeah, so mean, why was there was not "one" Indian tribe since the Indians were so peaceful? Why have "warriors". Because the Indian culture was a wayfaring society that constantly fought for lands from each other. Some of their games were even deadly. Anyone that thinks Indians were just peaceful hippies didn't/don't know much history.
The main enemies of the Comanches were the Pawnees, Osages, Arapaho, and Apaches. Although the five Comanche bands were independent of one another, they often came together to fight a common enemy (as was the case with many battles against the Apaches, who sought to gain land, horses, and captives).
Kızılderililerin birbirleriyle savaşması çok kötü bu yüzdende beyaz adama yenildiler birlik olmaları gerekirdi birlikten kuvvet doğar
Beautiful movie, no bad language and swearing. ❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦
I was only eight when I first saw this film… Now I’m 75 and I still enjoy it

Great movie ❤️
But a sad story in history 🙏❤️🙏🦋🦋🦋
My grandad loved this kind of thing. He was 17 when this movie was released and it reminds me of him. My other grandad also loved classic movies but unfortunetly he died in 1984. He would have been 37 when this movie came out.
Rest in peace
@@isaacibnoumaryama5779 thank you very much.
Finally a movie where the Indians and the Americans are getting along for the most part...good movie
Super good movie I wish they can make movies today that have such a good genuine feel to them

Good movie . Not much action, but good to watch because the story is very good. Thanks.
One of the better movies to me.
Great film! Native people looked real, not like many movies of the period where they are portrayed as cardboard villains. Robert Wagner shines!
I love movies like this! 🥰
I looked this film at Rink cinema@1997at Darjeeling.
The music as Robert Wagner rides into the Indian village sets that scene perfectly !!!!!
I love all westerners movie s. I grow up with all of them. Am American native Indian myself.
It's fantastic
And this movies tell us a real story
I love the movie well acted
i love cowboy movies
Love this movie. Great story of love and trust. The characters are loveable, the music is great, and acting is 100%.
Thank you!
Very good movie. Tells a great story.

I hope you've the Christmas package ready lol ???
Love western movies with the Native Americans in them. Thanks
what a coincidence! Robert Wagner birthday is on 10 Feb and he will be 91. Debra Paget is 87 now.! Thank you for this nice movie.
Debra Paget - the Indian girl - born 1933 was still living at age 88 as of this writing. She is one of the last Hollywood starlets from the 1950's! She starred in 'The Ten Commandments' and with Elvis Presley in his film debut 'Love Me Tender' (both 1956) and enjoyed a successful film career.

One of my all-time most favourites!!!
Thank you for posting..excellent movie 2thumbs up..
This is a great movie times were certainly very hard on both sides but there was respect and love
Seen is believing , one of my all time most favorites.!!!

What a great movie. Such hard times to be had by everyone in those days.
What about THESE days. People with no work, living on streets, police treating them like trash. Shame.

It's exactly 5.00am Monday morning....i've got work in 3 hours, first day back after the Christmas holidays, 😂😂
It's gonna be a long day 😂😂
A very good movie

Knowing what we know now, about racism and hatred, we would've rooted for the Indians back when we were kids.
We should live as one, and then there be no war n enjoy life.
Relax and take a chill pill....take many
u used to watch all kinds of movies like this when i was 3 to 6 years old in low quality but this quality is better brings back memories.
Touching enjoyable good movie.
Yes 🎥 land of the Cheyenne people country 😊 beautiful ❤️ scenery 😁 BLESSED
This is one of my favorite Western
Wonderful movie. Loved every moment of it. These Westerns are very entertaining
Really enjoying this movie must watch
I sure miss movies like this and earlier. They all were a little tinted but good lessons of courage and other lessons of life. That’s one reason we played them out as kids with our friends around the areas.
Try to live in peace & harmony with humankind. Have respect & consideration 4 all other creatures on this planet. Also where possible respect & care 4 the environment around you.I have not always done so, but tried as much as I could - it is not always possible, but I do my best which is all that a person can do.Amen. PJS.
Wonderful movie...not one boring moment

My Native American Spirit would love to see truthful stories and films come about, so that all may know how we once lived, and live today....., too many promises broken, and yet we have Hope, and still Pray that all our lands will be retrurned to us, and the replenishing of our lands with Buffalo, the Mustang, and better schools and hospitals for our people. God Bless America, for we are all brothers under The One True Living God...
I can tell you that the ignorance of people in power have no idea about the native people and what they can do for the land..if only they would listen or ask..all the land and animals would have a better chance..such as fires etc etc!
I love your comment. Greetings from the UK.

People have romantic notions
First time a western movie has filled my eyes with tears.
This is a totally awesome movie I totally love this video ❤️💯✌️😇☕ WADO!! For sharing it I totally appreciate it my friend ✌️😇☕
I don't think there was ever an Indian maiden as attractive as Debra Paget (Appearing Day).
I see Iron Eyes Cody has a role in this. Born of Italian parents, he made a tidy career playing American Indians in films & TV Westerns
This movie is a true classic it has been a favorite in my family for years thank you so much for sharing it it is a good way to spend a Saturday afternoon .💞💞💞
Such a clean and decent movie….I turn my head for only a few times….
Excellent movie!
Marlin Brando, Antonio Bandaras, and Omar Sharif were all magnificent in this movie!
What a fantastic movie.

Heartbreaking. One of the many broken treaties.
I like cowboy and Indians their movies are more entertaining and you don't fall asleep or yawn . Smile

I love this movie so much❤👍🏻😁
Great acting by the father. Expressions of both happiness and sadness very believable. However, I made my mind up that I wouldn’t shed any tears at the ending of the movie. I made it through the part where Josh had been arranging Little Bears 🐻 body, but I always lose it anytime I hear Taps played. There’s just so much finality in that sound and conversely, so much beauty.

No seriously not even the correct tribe Igai Bito (White Feather) is one of the early keepers of the Sacred Prophecy, judging by his war shirt he is obviously depicting the northern Midwest tribes instead of the Southwest tribes

Great great actors in this era too ... amazingly ❤❤❤
Nice movie and quite good quality also. Thanks.
Robert Wagner, did an amazing job acting out the preparation of his Native Indian friend’s body. I found myself crying as he did this because of the compassion and respect you show to his friend.
I lived in Wichita Kansas for over 25 years. I took my children to many Native American Indian powwows in Kansas and Oklahoma, and we went to the museums where they showed the treaties that American soldiers lied, and did not hold to their signatures on the papers that were signed. I often explain to My children how many western cowboy movies are misleading because the Indians, for the most part different tribes were different, they just wanted to be treated fairly and have the treaties. Actually, this out what they said, but instead, how are soldiers cannot give them the food or blankets and clothing. They deserved according to the treaties, breaking it time after time. And they gave them the poorest quality land that they , the Indians, were expected to live on, but yet the land was so barren and poor soil, that they couldn’t even call your own food to eat. My heart goes out to your native American Indians, and while I am only partially Indian, my heart feels so deeply about them miss use of government funds, and the lies and abuse that was shown to the Native American Indians, as many tribes. It is America’s shame. Do you know how we treated wonderful native American Indians!!
Robert Wagner did a wonderful job on this movie, as did the actress who played the Native American Indian… She was so beautiful and I’m glad Roberts Character married her. I wished I could hear this story and others from their mouth. I have learned to try to read only that book which is written by a true. native American Indian. Their word is what I believe after reading so many broken promises by our own country. In fact, they still do that stuff politically, but the average American is ever told what goes on behind the s political meetings and paper signing!!
Thank you for making the movie available to us on RUclips.
Very touching

Words can not tell you thanks I love my Red Brothers

Wagner was one smooth dude, getting Natalie Wood was proof of that.
They sure didn't spare any expense with extras! Thousands of cavalry and Cheyenne.
Wonderful movie, for once portraying the best in humanity instead of the worst.

DID NOT KNOW HE MADE A WESTERN MOVIE .... THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS I REALLY ENJOYED IT 😎
pmad D He made many of them!
Great movie with great ending. Motivates one to read about early American history.....
I would suggest reading An indigenous peoples history of the United States by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz.
There were no books in the time it started, about a few 1000 years ago.
Not when the “ new world” was “ discovered”
Lans stolen from the native poeple.
@@andrewdwyer2456 thank you for the suggestion. Going to try to get it now.

Iv seen this movie before but still worth watching again it was just brilliant thanks for sharing it with us and keep them coming.
WOW! Great movie, enjoyed it very much! The courage and restraint shown by both the Cavalry and the Native Americans did astonish (unlike the typical western)! A lesson today's leadership could learn from. Too much greed and corruption rooted in leadership; historically and present, the world over, and human lives tend to be worthless.
There the best history

Too bad the Native Indians didn't win.
I'd much prefer their way of life, compared to our souless modern way.
Even as a longtime vegetarian, I see no fault with how the animals were hunted and consumed by them. They always showed the upmost respect for the animal and only killed when necessary, not like modern man which maintains slaughterhouses and kills by the billions.
such an ignorant statesmen.

That was a good one!!!
I too was teared as I watched the ending. My "feminine' side, I guess. And more powerful since it was true! Love in peace is more powerful than war. Being "dressed up" for their death reminded me of the Spartans, warriors too, who always primped before battle.
Absolutely. And the samurai too. The quality of death was vital for the true warrior cast I think.
I wish all other western movies can be of these great quality; good to the eyes. Thanks for the upload.

I love this movie. Well-acted, treats all sides with nuance and respect. In the mid-fifties, it was common to see Indian characters be cardboard, but not here.
i cried for the old chief, no one deserves to see their children die in front of their eyes, it was too painfull to see broken arm signing away his ancestral land, what a cruel world
I would have wanted little dog settle peacefully with Ann in exchange
Honestly this is why i have a love hate relationship with westerns because i always side with the natives and break my own heart when they lose
History is full of stories like this. Culture and values are often stormed or annihilated by brute forces and sufferings. God had been hardly of any help other than formal enslavement of those who suffered.
Its a movie...
@@Thecircustapes I know what you are talking about, because I feel the same as you. What the white men done to those Indians is a very shameful thing. They took everything away from the native Indians. Every time they got lied too and betrayed by the white men, I always cry. They were not savages, not till they had no choice. Every men will protect their loved ones. I never hated anyone in my life, but watching these movies makes me hate what was done to those Indians.
My LORD! and my GOD!! how majestic is thy name, in all the earth...

I saw Robert Wagner on at least one occasion. In the mid to late 1980's. He was crossing the street by himself in Westwood, CA. I think it was Westwood Blvd near Le Conte, up by the small theater there, the Geffen Playhouse, one day. Maybe he was just at the theater. A few people recognized him most likely. There weren't that many around, but he just smiled pleasantly and went about his business.
I alert the media ! ! !
