One time I was at the movies, the cashier at the concession stand asked if I wanted to round up my order for some donation. I said “No, thanks,” but they accidentally added it anyway. I was livid, and didn’t notice until I walked away and checked my receipt. I walked my ass up there and made them refund me. I was too mad to be embarrassed lol

Tax breaks are why they do the donation thing. They collect the $ from customers but donate the money as walgreens and they get the tax write off for $ that isn't their's
This is why I stopped donating at every store. Petco, grocery store, etc all ask and I would donate but I want them to pay their fair share of taxes so I’ll donate for myself thanks
I was the hero the city needed when I had a nissan armada. I would set my ass in the middle of two lanes to encourage everyone else to merge like a sane person or just be mad behind me.

I have a comment about the “donations”. The cooperation has often already donated to that charity and your “donation” as a customer is actually helping them re-pay it or something with taxes. As Jen said, use another source to help others 💓

what is even worse than being shamed into a donation (which is horrible enough) is the poor employees who are paid next to nothing, but are forced by their employer to ask. Working somewhere like that is bad enough, but to be forced to awkwardly solicit a donation? horrible for the employees. They signed up to work at Walmart, not to work for a non-profit asking customers for donations. It's ridiculous, and yes, it's always Walgreens, Walmart Market, Salad & Go... the same places ask for it.

Funny about the traffic but - I've learned to leave my ego and indignant at home and pull out my most gracious and tolerant self when I'm driving. Not only am I less likely to get shot but my blood pressure stays normal.😊

The request to donate for cancer always gets me!! I finally started responding with “my husband has cancer how will this help him? “ They shut up quick. And it’s true, he had cancer and passed away we never received any help from any organization or meal train or whatever. I responded often with you wanna do something for us…. Give me your fucking bone marrow! I’ve had it and I’m over it now!

Get this. I went to go get some wine at the liquor store yesterday. I was the one who went to the cooler, grab the wine, brought it to the counter, and the person working there was just standing behind the counter. I go to pay for the wine with my debit card, and an asked if I want to tip. At the liquor store. What the fuck. I live in Canada. These people working at the liquor store or making over $20 an hour.

I’m always torn about the tip culture at restaurants where you order everything through your phone via a QR code. In my opinion tip culture has gotten crazy where you’re expected to tip for every little thing. I still do tip because it feels wrong not to but it also doesn’t feel right to tip 20% to someone I barely interacted with on a large dinner & drinks bill

Group of people that drive by your house to drop you off food that usually they prepare (not bought). This is usually for people that are sick, grieving, etc. ITS A WHITE PEOPLE SHIT.
It’s a group of people who coordinate taking meals to a person in need of assistance. Usually, it’s done if someone had a baby, major surgery or a death in the family. That way the affected party doesn’t have to think about it.

I think it’s when people cook you a meal, you freeze it, and can bake/cook it when you’re ready to eat it
There’s a “list/calendar and people sign up to cook a meal on a certain day for a person who has had surgery or a family that has lost a loved one, etc…

So I found out that when corporations ask tge customers to donate towards a cause, they've already made the tax write off of a donation and are just asking customers for money to try and recoup some of their money back and it's completely legal!
RE - Donations. I ask, can you guarantee my donation will be sent to those who need it? That will usually stop the begging. Works for me
