This is by far the best collection of great ideas for chicken tractors I've seen in one place. I'm all steady to go out and make some of my own. Thanks!
I have not....questions unanswered. We get strong storms here in the mid-west and I am trying to answer that control. Me think we must tie down at each move. With a closed end, which is needed, the wind would take it across the field. I want one...just haven't found a satisfactory answer...yet.
chickens prefer wooden roosting bars over pvc because they are easier to hold, and perhaps more of them than you have in your designs dust boxes are also good, having said that, great video, very helpful and informative, great design and love the bug zapper idea, cannot wait to try it out, well done
+Jeremy smithThanks and I agree. My birds usually free range so they make there own dust baths no need to do the work. I use pvc for perches because it is more sanitary and easier to incorporate into a pvc tractor.
Thank you so much for this video. Hubby and I had no clue how to make one of these with pvc. the wood was too heavy for us to move as we are both seniors and arthritic. this is so doable and will be much lighter. thank you!
I don't even have chicks, but after watching this video I fell very well informed about a chicken tractor use. Well thought out and well explained. Thanks for sharing.
Very good ideas and details! I would center the feed shelf on the wall and make it wider with a wide/narrow trough so more chickens can get to food across the front and on the sides. While there head can fit through a 2 inch wire, their bodies still need 6 inches to stand next to each other. It will be less stress and pushing to get food.
@@JL-by4xu Yes, I could see one chicken being stood on on the right side of the feed room. There needs to be more room so no one has to be pushed down. Food time should not be laborious. It should be free. So it is not however it works best for you. Its however it works best for all the chickens... thanks for all the ideas :)
Some great ideas you have here. I particularly like the night light that attracts bugs for extra protein. Although my set up is far different from a mobile set up, your ideas have inspired me to make some major changes. Thanks for the tips.
@@JL-by4xu Great video, excellent suggestion and loads of experience, please excuse my ignorance. night light will provide protien but isnt that disturb chickens to sleep? i mean when night falls naturally we should sleep. this is my question. Thank you again for a such a nice video.
Very informative thanks. I found your youtube video on building the ultimate chicken tractor about 3 to 4 years ago. The tractor is quite resilient to the strong winds that we have here in central NC, USA. I am trying to incorporate wheels onto the tractor because it is rather heavy and expect it to be heavier after I install solar panels, batteries, electric fence charger, light and bugzapper :). I have found that rolling CT on a piece of 4" PVC helps get it to the next spot down the line though. Thanks again.
Man, this concept is Great! A Moveable Chicken Coop solves many problems associated with raising chickens. I thank you for your insight with your Chicken Tractor Designs!
Wow! Great amenities with easy access. I would need a parts list and dimensions before I could start this project. I could adjust dimensions to fit my needs, but would need something to go by. Thank you for this video. I’ll go bug Lowe’s.
Has concrete floor with drainage so easy washout when nessary...otherwise I use hay and the hay help in garden and growing potatoes..thanks to another idea on utube ..Thank you all for great ideas ...
I know totally nothing about such stuff.. but having said that, I found this video is to be very well done and very interesting. I stayed interested right to the end. Good job, Mr Lewis. Thank you.
I really like the buckets and the roosting area in the bigger chicken tractor. thanks for sharing sir I just got my first batch of chickens. know am putting my research into action.
No problem, the buckets have worked well and are easy to clean. I wish it were my idea but I got it somewhere else just modified it with the back door being the backside of the nest bucket.
Nice design. On covering food, have had whole scratch grains get rained on, and get moldy at bottom of food bowl, and also get moldy after dumping on ground and day or two later young birds ate it and got sick. So now I encourage keeping food dry, no matter if it is whole grain or cracked or milled. Never thought about buckets for nest boxes. I would put boxes below roost so the girls don’t sleep in the straw. Pvc is good for ground contact. I would use 2” wood roost.
Chicken tractors are great in the city. Would not get a rooster if in town. Most cities we habe lived in allow chickens if the neighbors do not complain. Live your dream. Blessings
This is a fantastic video! I wish that I had found it BEFORE I built my current coop. This video is a general overview of things that work. Every suggestion looks like it will give max return on effort expended.
Thank you for taking the time and trouble to make this video. I am trying to learn all I can before I get my first chickens next year. I live in town and a small chicken tractor sounds like a great idea for the reasons you describe in this video. I am afraid I am not all that handy, but i think I will be able to find someone to build for me and want to provide a smart design. I learned a lot watching your video. I'm on my way to see if you have more! Best to you from Kansas!
I have a couple questions. How do u keep it from blowing away in a strong wind gust? And more importantly, How do u keep predators out of the coop without a floor? i was going to do a chickenwire floor for flowthru but watching this makes me realize that design would still be unpleasant to clean.
my suggestion is to place a few giant sized hamster wheels inside the tractor so that when the chickens are in there running the tractor will actually move,' auxillary solar banks can also provide Power
I'm really excited, but also new, and a lot of the terminology here is also new to me. Could anyone point me in a direction where I might understand building basics?

What element of security do you out in place for nights...racoons, opossums, etc?
...around the edge.
Did you ever get around to making your chicken tractors and if so,how did it go?
I have not....questions unanswered.

I am designing a chicken tractor now, I will definitely be incorporating some of these tips into the design, love it.
thanks for the video.
The bug zapper protein supplementer is absolutely hilarious! Thanks for so many great ideas!

Good idea for feeding chickens, wow!! We have to do this on our homestead!!!

Catherine McGuire Good, pvc is light weight, durable and easy to work with. Good luck on your build
I’m in the same boat, needing lightweight and easy to move. Great place to start.
I don't even have chicks, but after watching this video I fell very well informed about a chicken tractor use. Well thought out and well explained. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you.
Video was as well done as those chicken tractor s. Thank you.
Great job with lots of interesting and practical steps for constructing the tractor.
Thank You

Ally Chumley Thanks, Yes a lot of the ideas can be used on a stationary coop and run setup as well.

+Terry Pearson I have been very happy with them.

They don't blow away, if they do you got bigger problems as your house is likely going as well. I use a dog.
Holy shit! I just learned so much in this one video🤯
