Wow! clear and concise! I ordered a rebuild kit for ours and it did not come with any instructions on how to even access the parts. I found a schematic online that shows all the parts. I was kind of figuring that the buttstock needed to be removed. All those screws and pins make it look daunting. Good thing I like jigsaw puzzles!

I just rebuilt my 1980s or 90s 880 (metal receiver plates, but plastic pump lever) using a brand new 880. I used the new seals, the new rifled barrel, because the original has had thousands of bbs/pellets through it, and the rifling is worn quite a bit. Swapped pump piston, seals, I swapped out the white and black plastic pieces on the butt and rear grip for esthetics. The bolt is a little longer on the new version, so I'm still using the original. Pellgun oil will be here tomorrow, and I'll lube it up. I have a few critters who won't stay away from the bird feeders. It's back to what I remember it being in the 90s power-wise.

I have an 880 that I bought back in '96. It has the metal receiver plates. I'm debating on whether to rebuild or buy new and just transfer metal plates from old to new. I think I bought a rebuild in '96 because when I went to the store, the plates were plastic even in '96. I ordered the one I have out of a circulation catalog.

Hello J L. Thank you very much for this nice informative video. I just started following you. I live in Turkey and I want to produce laying hens that graze on pastures. I will benefit greatly from the guidance you showed. I am looking for an answer to a question that I am curious about. I using the number of 100 chickens as an example. In a strong pasture consisting of highly mixed and nutritious grains, legumes, green vegetables and some other vegetables, what should be the minimum area in square meters to feed 100 chickens in 2 days? Of course, I'm talking about a flat area where there is not even a single square meter of unused space. Thank you in advance, hoping you will answer this question.

Dear Daisy 880, I got your repair kit, and I have the old style 880, not oldest and this was also my first BB gun. I watched all the videos and took apart and put together with all the new parts, but it is not generating any pressure. Everything seems to be working but it just doesn’t seem to generate enough pressure. I do not hear any leaks when I pump with only the pump assembly done, but I don’t think even then it is generating enough pressure. Could you please help me diagnose and repair what else might be wrong. I do not mind getting a few more parts if needed as I want my son to be able to use this gun. Thank you, Rob

The Old Style that has the wooden stock has to have the butt stock plastic shoulder piece removed to access a bolt INSIDE the butt stock that must be loosened to facilitate the removal of the receiver side plates. There is a squared metal piece on the forward end of the butt stock that "locks in" the receiver side halves that are grooved to mate with that metal plate.
