Vroomtastic, was the install of the MBRP exhaust fairly straightforward? Do you need to put the car on a hoist or could you do it with jacks and stands. cheers
I installed it on ramps in my garage haha. It's pretty simple. only thing that might be a little tricky on ramps or stands is making the cut in the factory exhaust.
Stock except for the catback. The BOV is just a diverter valve spacer for a Cooper S that I got from a buddy of mine lol. You really can't beat the MBRP in my opinion. To me the MRT is just too expensive for just straight pipe.
Dang man whatever that diverter valve spacer is makes it sound much better lol. I just ordered my MBRP this morning. Ya MRT is pretty expensive for just piping really. This is just my daily driver so I'm trying not to mod it too much. Did you look up to see if the cat back voided your warranty or naw? I don't really care but it's just a cat back. I hope the dealership isn't too picky.
Jake Gimigliano The spacer is literally just a machined block of aluminum with some holes in it that fits between the diverter valve and compressor housing lol. And as far as the warranty goes, the Federal Trade Commission passed a ruling that unless a manufacturer can prove absolutely that your aftermarket part caused the malfunction, they have to honor the warranty. So, unless you try to tell the dealership your exhaust is too loud, you're golden hahaha
***** Yep you've got it. It's a partial vent. This one is just an eBay spacer (look up one for a Mini Cooper S if you're interested). A friend of mine has the Boomba spacer on his FiST and it's MUCH louder due to to large oval slits compared to the smaller round holes in mine.
Vroomtastic So the R56 Cooper S BOV adapter will work with the FiST? Sounds good to me. I find the Boomba is a bit over the top. Did you find any drivibility issues? Idle or anything?
I'm in between mbrp or cobbs. I want quality and little to no drone. Are you getting any drone with this exhaust? And also did you switch out different hangers? Thanks!
It is a tad on the loud side, but doesn't have an annoying resonance at cruising speed. It's noticeably an aftermarket exhaust, but doesn't really drone if that makes sense. I used a combination of stock and MBRP hangers to get it to sit just where I wanted it.
I didn't have any trouble at all. would've been even easier to line up if I'd been on a lift instead of ramps. I know the VT exhaust got pushed to market a lot faster than the one for the FiST and I THINK a different place developed it for them. Not sure on that part, though.
+Vroomtastic so there is no rubbing or rattling? And do the tips come out the way they are supposed to? (This was how bad the mbrps Catback for the Veloster was lol) and thanks for responding!!
+Kurt Arevalo I did have a rattle at one point, but it was due to a failed hanger and not the fault of the exhaust itself. The tips actually have quite a bit of adjustment to them. you can tuck them back into the bumper or have them sticking out a bit like I do.
+Vroomtastic awesome thanks for the info, I'm debating between this and the MRT Catback which I'm sure you've heard of, the MRT is 2.5in with no res or muffler but the MBRP is 3in with a resonator (I don't really want a res) and it's also a three piece design which I'm not to fond of. I'm still deciding between the two. Both sound insane tho
+Kurt Arevalo It's actually *sort of* a muffler. It's straight through, but it has fins around the inside of the chamber to reflect soundwaves a bit. You still get quite a bit of volume, but without the sort of raspiness of the MRT
Sweet exhaust, bud! Is that just cat-back or is it downpipe too? I'm pretty much sold on MBRP. Thanks
Just the catback at the moment, man! I love the MBRP and I've had it for quite a while.
Why not just delete the muffler on the mbrp?Wouldn’t that be the same thing plus you’re getting 3 inch

So what is all done to your FiST? bov, intake, and cat back? Sounds awesome man. I'm looking at either MBRP or MRT now. I'm torn between the 2 haha

I know this video is a little old but do you know which material the exhaust is, out of the three mbrp make them in.
Debating between this and the Cpe , I'm afraid this might be too loud on cold start for my neighbours , I have a Catless dp atm
Might be a little loud on catless DP. I'm already contemplating modifying it with another muffler/resonator when I go catless.

What sizse pipe and which model muffler
How was the fitment of the MBRP??? I bought an MBRP exhaust for my last car (Veloster turbo) and the fitment was honestly terrible.
