Arbiter's battle cry after killing Truth feels half triumphant, half pained, he's just slain his greatest enemy but he knows it can never un-do his people's persecution.
Not to mention, all the innocent people he killed on the various human colonies across the universe.
For a faith that had no base. For a war that had no point.
@@AnonymousSilence-nd3zbthat would hurt
The Arbiter knowing that his former beliefs were lies clearly hurt him tremendously. He waged war against humanity for no point. Only fitting that Truth die by his hand.
I know this will not undo the past, but this is the revelation of his atone.
Everytime you think this scene will end the arbiter is like "yeah, we need some more raw ass lines" and kills it everytime
"Kill me or release me parasite, but do not waste my time with talk"
-the most badass space lizard that ever lived
"I will have my revenge! On a prophet, NOT a plague!"
" I will have my revenge on a prophet, NOT a parasite!" Gold
'awkward roar'
Chad and Based red pilled even
"And so...you must be SILENCED".
Once again, Keith David shows he is a fucking boss!
Such a badass line.
I really hope to see the whole gang reunite one day. Chief, Arbiter, Ntho, and Usze. The Halo OG's of 4 player coop.
All these years and all this time I thought he said, “asshole” opposed to, “and so”
@Tribal_Soldier don't forget Noble 6.
"And so.. RAMIREZ SHUT THIS FOOL UP!"
Those who know, know lol.
I love how chief just kind of hangs back and is like "Imma let you do your thing"
It shows that John respected Thel. He knew he had to regain his honor and avenge all the Sangheli that died as a result of Truth’s treachery. There was no better way to show him that then by allowing the Arbiter to let his Sword taste the flesh and blood of the Prophet.
@@KazumaPrime Which in turn, makes Chief all that more honorable considering that Thel and the elites took many of his family members(fellow Spartans) and the lives of billions of humans we spent colonizing in the trillions. God, the people behind this at Bungie must've known they were making something everlasting when this game was in development.
Even the Chief knew it was personal for the arbiter. What the Prophets did to his people was beyond a betrayal. The Arbiter found more companionship with his enemy than he ever did with the Covenant. The Arbiter was the most redeemed character throughout series and the ending was goals.
“Relax I wouldn’t wanna piss this thing off”
"so did you two, like, know each other or something?"
"I will have my revenge on a prophet, not a plague."
One of my fav quotes of the series.
Ironic that the same elite who basically broke humanities spine at reach would be the one to do the exact sane to the covenant
I ain’t look at it like that😂 mans put a whole new perspective for me about the arbiter haha
The Arbiter committed numerous genocides against The UNSC as Supreme Commander and They still don't forgive him for the atrocities but will work with the Sangheli to stop the Prophets
Also, ironically, Thel Vadam previously saved the life of the Prophet of Truth from the assasination attempt of his companion. And now, Thel Vadam ended being his executioner.
@@haydenfowle7576eh man is a very effective general. Covenant's bigest mistake was to ostricise him and not listening elites to take humans as part of the covenant.
@@josecuestas7246Arbiter killed Truth in the same way as the failed assassination attempt years earlier
Chief casually strolls up to the machine and powers down the rings.
Truth: “NOOOOOOOO”
I love how each Prophet's namesake relates to their fate:
Regret, finds himself in a regrettable situation after being taken by the flood
Mercy, is mercy killed by John
Truth, all his lies finally catch up to him
Ironic right?
Never realized that, that's pretty cool.
Every Phophet's fate and name is laced with irony.
But in the honor of thematic naming and to segway, did you notice that the frigates in the Halo games tend to have thematic names that predict their fates? or the fate of their soldiers?
In Amber Clad -- infected by and covered in the amber colored Flood biomass.
Forward unto Dawn -- the forward section of the ship was found on Earth with the Arbiter being rescued at dawn.
Say My Name -- the ship you drop from in H3: ODST, a game where the squad's separated and keep calling each other's names over the comms.
Halo had neat little bits like that.
@@Aurora-313 yeah, Noble team too, each dies in an ironic way,
-Jorge who was the demolition expert dies in an explosion
-Kat, the smart one died while asking a question
-Carter, the captain, went down with the ship
-Emile who was the close range specialist died in close range
-Noble six, the lone wolf, died alone and overwhelmed
-Then Jun, who was the sniper and thus picked people off one by one, was the only one who survived
@@bbqsandwich832 this was deep
Never noticed, but Chief was trying to pull Arbiter into the Pelican with him :)
Yeah, He grabs arbiters arm as the pelican passes him.
They went from being enemies to being bros
One important detail, the Sgt. Johnson witnessed the beginning and the end of the Human-Covenant War, as he was present in Harvest when the UNSC met the Covenant and started this conflict. And he was present when the Prophet of Truth was executed by Arbiter, putting an end to this war.
It was a pyrrhic victory for Johnson. He said nothing as Truth was slain and instead carried Miranda's body onto the Pelican in silence. He'd lost his close friends in both Jacob and Miranda Keyes at the end of the war, and countless others as well.
To Johnson, there was nothing to celebrate, for there was no actual victory to speak of, other than the cecession of continued bloodshed.
When the cost for victory is so high, it almost makes you yearn for defeat in a strange, somber way. At least in such defeat you can grasp the loss for what it's worth and it doesn't feel hollow.
@@AnonymousSilence-nd3zb Sometimes, even death is victory
I love how we can all tell Arbiter is angry, but he just casually walks to Truth.
He wanted to savor the kill, can’t say I blame him
@@ALUCARD-us3il I dont blame him either. I'd definitely want to savor the kill, too.
I know Chief is the star but even when I first played Halo 3 I thought it was more fitting for Arbiter to strike the killing blow.
Truth out right tried to kill Humanity but not only did he try to kill the Sangehli but lied to them to.
2:33
The greatest shot in gaming history.
“Your kind…never believed…in the promise of the sacred rings.”
Always loved that quote.
From the music being timed perfectly, to the way he says it.
Its nuts because Truth knew the truth about the Great journey being a lie ages ago, its why he started the war to begin with. Its insane the level of denial you have to be in when literally all forerunner constructs are telling you what Halo is for.
"Lies for the weak. Beacons for the deluded."
“Lies for the weak. Beacons for the deluded” is better.
This cutscene really makes me wish Bungie stuck with their guns and didn't scale his role back after people complained about Arbiter in Halo 2. Halo 3 was great, but it would have been incredible if him and Chief actually had the growth between them happen on screen.
Wait, people complained about Arbiter dude? Why?
@@retroprime6206 A lot of the discourse at the time and game reviews cited that they wanted more Master Chief, they didn't like the Covenant spoke English, and there was also funny enough complaints of false advertisement since people were led to believe that we were going to save Earth, but only 2 missions actually took place on Earth.
@@soktherat777 what Lmfaoo master cheif was saving earth by saving the galaxy
@@soktherat777 people just love to complain, these types of toxic "fans" kills the fandom and eventually the support for the franchise
Halo fans has always been complaining since Bungie days, it does not matter if they changed studio or not. Reach was criticized alot, but when the new one comes out they will move their bitching to the next. And it will keep going for generations.
Halo 2: Arbiter is basically the main character
Halo 3: Sidekick
arbiter actually looks better in halo 2 aswell lol
And then in halo 5 he's basically a background character
I would call it more of a mutual respect than a sidekick. If he was a sidekick it would be chief killing truth.
@@Duckbusinessman He went from having an arc and a character to a coop buddy with barely any dialogue other than movie one liners
“I shall become a God!”
“You will be food… nothing more.”
This dialogue gave me all the chills…

“I... have beaten fleets of THOUSANDS! Consumed a galaxy of flesh and mind and bone!"
Another part about this scene that I love is how the Gravemind taunts truth through his infection but is also speaking to Arby as well. The Gravemind is in control and everything is going according to plan, his line "You will be food, nothing more" is a mocking of truth's status while also threatening Arbiter and the Chief for after the prophet is dead. So cool!
IDK why but the Gravemind let Truth keep his mind intact for the Arbiter to kill him, I wonder if he did it as a small mercy for aiding him before ultimately trying to kill him and the chief
27 years, and billions of innocent lives….
This was a long time coming for him.
Not just humans, but the Covenant species as well.
“I! Am! Truth! The voice of the covenant!”
“And so you must be silenced”
Still gives me chills!
I love how chief's like "okay. I'll let you kill him" and I love when they work together. I also love arbiter's character it's so good!
aaaargh
The funny thing is, out of the 4 people in this room, the 3 allied together (Master Chief, Arbiter, and The Flood considering it’s the same Gravemind from Halo 2) have each killed a Prophet.
@@SirCaphuh, never thought about that.
"I am truth, the voice of the covenant!"
"And so you must be silenced"
Arbiter: stabs him
Lol for the longest time i thought he said asshole
@@martinroque1183 yo same 😂
AAAAAAARGGHHHH
What you egg?
“What? You egg?”
*he stabs him*
Love how the hivemind allows arbiter his want for revenge.
"Ah you've been a good sport in getting me what I wanted, I'll let you have this one. :)"
"And so, you must be silenced!" Arbiter's badass!
I like that one part when the Arbiter kills the Prophet then just releases a scream
And then Chief gives him a little nod like “…you good?”
it goes so raw
Master chief acknowledging what the arbiter just did and acting nonchalantly on the outside but you know he’s freaking out in a good way on the inside
"And so you must be silenced" most badass arbiter line
Specialy after saying "The voice of the Covenant".
The awesome fact here is that The Flood was taking over Truth and the Gravemind gave back control to the Prophet just for the Arbiter to take his revenge.
He was like : Oh no dude don't fade away just yet. I want you to feel what's coming :D
Yep that’s a dick move there
“You will be food, nothing more…” favorite line
Chief and Arby back to back like that has to be a bad ass poster SOMEWHERE
I had a small poster that came with the game when it released that was just like that. Chief in the front and arby in the back with his energy sword. I remember putting it up on my wall.
It's my nameplate in MCC

I love his roar of triumph
We Stan Arbiter
Such an AMAZING scene! Gives me bone chills when the Arbiter says "So you must be silenced" as he daggers his sword into the prophet. Then afterwards let's out a Roar of dominance 💪🏼⚔️
Notice how Chief, in all of his half a ton weight, causes the Pelican to fuckin shift in the air when he hops on
master chief just vibin
2:14
I only Noticed now Johnson's Pelican was unstable after the gravemind hit Chief and Arby.
That Small turn around was probably Johnson knowing that he couldnt go back with the tentacles there but he knew both of them would be capable of surviving as they had each other's backs.
Chief and arbiter are a badass team together
Facts
I will have my revenge… on a prophet not a plague.” -Arbiter
That choir when Arby grabs Truth always gives me chills
Chief with that subtle nod after the takedown. Nothing but respect.
a lesson to learn, don't betray your best warrior.
“I will have my revenge-on a Prophet, not a plague!”
I never truly resonated with the music of Truth's death until I realized this recently:
It's not supposed to indicate a triumphant moment for Arbiter. It's supposed to make us feel TRUTH's despair, and therefor, makes his suffering more gratifying.
1:17 (nice) the best lines in all of Halo
@TES Enthusiast yep, halo 3 is still in my top 2 video games
@@ollybears7797 what's number 1? Reach?

1:07 Oh no Prophets become The Thing!
I think its an awesome detail of how much chief weighs when he grabs onto the pelican and how far it dips
I love that they shut off the music when arbiter says you must be silenced
From chief putting the gun in arbiters face to the bro moment at 1:41!
Man arbiter is such a badass
Chief is just like "Alright. A little bit dramatic there, buddy."
1:37 😠 *R A A A A A A A G G G H H H*
That instant “Oh shit” feeling from the drumbeat playing is amazing.
Truth: Don't you know, I'm just a spinless poochacha just trying to get laid?!
Arbiter: Bitch, you're not getting laid but you sure as hell are getting slayed!
I couldn't resist going back to this as my first trilogy in 4k on Xbox series x when it launched on legendary.
I just realized chief reached down to grab arbiters hand
Unbelievable mission from start to fucking finish yo.
Halo was so good, the cutscenes and music were so epic together. Rest in peace Halo
I just love when Arbiter kills Truth and yells "Aahhh" to vent out his anger ⚔ ... Literal goosebumps
Looks like it’s time to replay the Halo series!
When I first did this mission I thought the Arbiter said “asshole” on 1:26 lol 🤣
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who heard asshole also
I thought he did say “asshole you must be silenced too”

0:33 me when I get my paycheck
“The moment of Salvation… is at hand.”
The split second he has to experience his crown being flown off before he is slain is such a great touch!
Johnson who doesn't give a shit about his teammates 😂
He probably couldn't go back in but had the confidence that they'd make it out alive
1:37 or press for the sound of pure accomplishment
Chief just pressing buttons like he's fluent in Forerunner and can tell which is the "OFF" and "FIRE HALO ARRAY" buttons
"Stop the Rings... save the rest."
God I love this scene so goddamn much

That’s my and everyone’s wet dream. But I doubt it will happen
Arbiter is just carving the Thanksgiving turkey
Take notes 343, that's how you make an awsome game
Isnt it fitting that all three prophets are killed by 3 different races respectively. Human (Master Chef), covenant (arbiter), flood (infested form via gravemind)
Truth: it's a fuckin prank bro , its a fuckin prank!!!!.
I always thought he said "asshole you must be silenced"
One of the most satisfying kills in gaming
1:56 insane reflex from chief
"I! Am! Truth! The voice of the Covenant!"
A voice that needs to be silenced
He made sure it hurt.
1:44 -- In a way the silent nod is funny to me.
"Yeah, you aliens have a really screwy thing going on... But then again, humans aren't exactly in a position to judge, either."
"And so you must be silenced"
Always thought it was "Asshole, you must be silenced"
1:49 the Arbiter and Chief look at Miranda in such a sad mood, guess in shame they got there too late.
Truly I laugh every time I see Truth saying “I am Truth the voice of the Covenant” and get f*cking impaled😂
Everytime I see this scene I lament that we haven't seen a remaster of Halo 3 yet.
This was so satisfying to see after he killed Miranda
Terrance Stamp does an insanely good job as the prophet of Truth in Halo 3
1:26 2:31 I love master chief ❤️🩸 and arbiter 🧡🔥
This right here 2:32 when paused is my absolute favorite screenshot of The Arbiter and Master Chief.
I love how much of a chad Arby is.
Huh, if I had a nickel for every time a character voiced by Keith David stabbed someone through the back with an energy sword, I'd have two nickels.
Well. That was extremely cathartic.
I remembered as a kid thinking the Arbiter said "Asshole, you must be silenced"
“And so you must be silenced” -Arbiter
God we need Master Chief and The Arbiter fighting alongside each other again in the next Halo
1:07 makes wonder how a Prophet would look like if infected by Flood
If you pay attention when Johnson power up the pelican chiefs body language is like “fuck this shit I’m OUT!” And runs it’s actually hilarious XD
In that moment, arbiter became the arbiter of truth.
