I have flown on many of these both going to and departing from ATL via Delta Airlines, mainly to and from Melbourne,Florida (MLB). Apparently they are the main workhorses that service that airport unless I am wrong. I love flying on them. Awesome video!

i was aboard the first mad-dog; the baby nine or DC-9-11, the airline was West Coast Airlines.

As of now all the "Mad Dogs" aka the DC-9 or MD-80's are gone. I traveled a lot on both. In fact, I was a passenger on the original "Baby Nine", that is the DC-9-14. It was 1/2 the size of the DC-9-80. My first time was on a DC-9-14 of West Coast Airlines, the next time was aboard a Hawaiian Airlines DC-9-14. That was in the 1960's.
Must be so nice to get inside that fantastic plane!
I'll never tire of flying the MD-80's. Oh how I wish American still had them. Oh well... All good things must come to an end. Thanks for watching man!

I love TUL. It's my second choice when flying out of the area I live. JLN is first simply because it's only about 20 min from my house. TUL is about a 1 hour drive, but it's a strait shot down I44. It's still small and convenient, but offered a decent number of flights and destinations. Thanks for watching!

Are you flying an MD-80 or 90? Unfortunately, the maddogs don’t come to my airport anymore (Minneapolis) Way back in the day I remember flying an MD-80 from Minneapolis to Orlando Florida, and I remember us thinking “what a nice plane this is” it’s cool to see how far we’re come, but McDonnell Douglas will always have a place in my heart. The last MD90 I flew was in 2017, from Minneapolis to Atlanta. That was at least the best flight I’ve ever been on in my whole life.
I’m flying on an MD-88 from Omaha to Atlanta, they still fly in and out of Omaha
@@BFFAvgeek15 Glad to hear that the Delta MD-80's will still be flying for that long. I know the MD90's have at least up until 2022, it's amazing to see that this aircraft is still flying strong!

Why do planes have to retire
Is that a lighthearted way of being sad about the Maddog retirement or an actual question?
Airplanes pressurize and depressurize every flight; the structure expands and contracts slightly. They can only do that so many times.
I'm not sure if this is an AA MD-80 remark or a question either. Either way the bases are covered by @Airwipe and @gatorbuc99. Thanks for watching guys!

B. E. Russell No, it’s a commercial flight. The Date was Aug 30, 2019, that’s 6 days before they got retired.

I heard from the captain on my recent MD88 flight that Delta will keep flying these planes until end of summer 2020.... Can anyone else confirm this?
I don’t remember the exact date (The exact date may not have even been announced yet), but Delta did release a rough retirement schedule for their MD-80’s and MD-90’s. It was by the end of 2020 for the MD-88’s and by the end of 2022 for the MD-90’s.
@@sla31 Gotcha. Btw did you ever fly on the Great 727..... I remember as a kid watching and hearing them roar down the runway with my Grandpop in the late 90s /early 2000s brings back good memories👍
