In my opinion, the insanely high damage of the original Typewriter was just too much. It trivialized everything, so the gun wasn't very fun to use because you were guaranteed to kill almost anything with just a handful of rounds. I mean shit, the maxed out Red 9 hit for 6.5 damage in the original and the Typewriter has infinite ammo and 10 damage per round.
