I like that the whistle feels both scary and welcoming, like for those who fear death because they have done wrong, it sounds like a horror theme, hunting you down, ever close, and getting closer, but yet for those who accept death, it is a tune meant to tell them that their suffering is over, and they are going to soon be at peace

This is how the story of Puss should end. he's happy with his life, and isn't going to put up any resistance. it's time to go.

I like that Death takes no pleasure in performing his duty this time. I have to imagine it must be hard in his position. He has had to watch countless people over time succumb to diseases, people who ultimately asked him to come for them sooner to spare them pain, who don’t even ask for more time with their loved ones because they’re just suffering that much as the disease takes their body.
And Death still respects them, for going until the bitter end just for the sake of spending every last bit of time with their loved ones, and finally admitting they want peace.

Death's character doesn't stick around too long, because it's not his way to drag on. This keeps the spirit of his character- very well done!
Edit: In reference to how the character is written, when Death is present in the film (which isn't that common), he doesn't have a lot to say, but everything he says is important. He doesn't have complex motivations or a philosophy to instill. So this little animation keeps that character premise- a lot of fan-made material does a terrible job of handling characters like Death because they add too much. Death: "You know, as annoying as you can be, I am glad you are enjoying your last few years on Earth. Now, let's go home."
As Death offers his hand to Puss, this time with his sickles in the sheathe and a calming smile in his face. Puss reaches out his hand as he drew his last breath.
In this cold transition night of fall to winter, the residents of the house vividly hear that soothing, mysterious, and eerie whisper of the Wolf.

I feel like Puss is ready to go to reunite with Kitty. In most fan fictions they sadly have Kitty passing before Puss. I can envision an Up reference like Puss is reminiscing on his life from his mother Imelda, to his adventures with Humpty, meeting Kitty and replenishing their relationship, meeting Shrek and Donkey, then he has Perrito who was the main reason he valued his last life and couldn’t thank him enough for seeing the light in him. Many have Puss and Kitty adopting him as their son. Then at the end Death sees Puss going through everything he experienced and Death is proud of Puss.

After living his life well, having beautiful children, as well as having a loving wife, and a loyal friend, he rests in his bed feeling himself getting weaker as the days march on, he closes his eyes knowing that he doesn't have very long. He then hears a beautiful whistle, but right away he knows who it is and chuckles. The Wolf from so long ago, the one who decided to spare him after he learned his lesson. "You know that we will meet again. Right?" The Wolf said so long ago, repeating in his head. Puss opens his eyes and sees the Wolf sitting on the side of the bed. "Lobo... I remember." Puss stats with a soft chuckle. The Wolf smiles softly. "How was your life?" He asks. Puss looks over at his pictures to his left, and smiles. "I lived it well." Puss replies. The Wolf nods placing his hand on Puss' head. "It's almost time... if you are afraid, or nervous about something, don't worry you will find peace, you won't be alone." The Wolf states. Puss nods, before feeling his eyes become heavy and his eyes blackening. He doesn't fight it as he is satisfied with his life and what he has accomplished. He closes his eyes for one last time, ready to enter the Afterlife.
My apologies for saddening fans, in fact I started welling up a bit from writing this, but just like every legend like Puss', his legacy will carry on.

Hopefully if the franchise keeps running with some new movies, we can eventually get a movie where the characters are old/past their prime and they are all trying to find peace and fufullment with whats left of their lives. We can eventually get to how puss is taking/living the last days of his life, and then, we can see an old friend in lobo come to greet him and take him off into the afterlife, but before that they reminisce, look back and appreciate their lives, in the end, Lobo/death expresses his gratitude to seeing puss turn around his life, and cherish his last life, as mouch as he could. Lobo expresses to boots, that even tho it may not have looked like it when they fought, but he is happy that puss was able to save his last life, and that he didnt have to put puss down back then. Of course, cocky as ever, puss retorts with him saying that he was gonna win anyway and that he had Lobo on the ropes. Likewise, despite the pain that it casued him at the time, Puss thanks Lobo for instilling the fear of death into him back then. Or more specifically, thank you for pushing/scaring me into realizing the importance of cherishing this last life of mine, and that their is no reason to fear Death, when you live/have lived a good life. From that point on, I did whatever I could to live the best life I could. A life that I can be happy/content with. A life where I was truly happy. A life where I didnt have to be alone anymore. A life where, if I disappeared/was gone, I would be missed. A life where I finally stopped running away from what I really wanted and let myself settle down. Not a life where I constantly felt like my life was going to end if I slowed down. A life where I cherished others lives, just as much as own. A life that I think I can say, I lived well. And its all thanks to you Lobo.

Person is cocky and tries to cheat him? He's sinister and furious.
    Person dies suddenly?
He snatches with a scary intensity.
    Person dies heroically protecting others?
He hails them and escorts them to the other side with honour.
And if someone dies peacefully after a long fulfilling life?
He gently greets them inquiring politely if they enjoyed their run.

I've been calling his whistle that for weeks now. I never thought what it would sound like if...well.
Exceptional voice work. Thanks for this.
