Samuel Graden that statement isn’t true. Wizards are Maiar. Maiar aided the ultimate god in creating the world. Maiar are immortal and can take every form they want. Both Sauron and the Balrogs are corrupted Maiar. They took the form of old men because they look wise
PIPPIN: I didn't think it would end this way. GANDALF: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it. PIPPIN: What? Gandalf? See what? GANDALF: White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise. PIPPIN: Well, that isn't so bad. GANDALF: No. No, it isn't.
Olorin (Gandalf) is my favorite character. Tolkien wanted to convey that personal character and wisdom will always prevail against the might and temptation of evil.
I remember going to a screening of The Fellowship of the Ring, with live accompaniment by the NC Symphony. The soloist who performed the bit at 3:08 simply blew me away. I didn't know human voices could do that. I'm almost crying just typing this, it was so moving.
Mithrandir, the physical form of the great Olorin is the wisest of the wise and the most honorable of the honorable. He would've made a great father figure. The embodiment of the wise old man archetype.
I thinm a series about Gandalf would be interesting. Since he must've done A LOT of things between arriving in Middle-Earth and taking Bilbo off on his adventures. :-)
“Many are my names in many countries: Mithrandir among the Elves. Tharkûn to the Dwarves. Olórin I was in my youth in the West that is forgotten. In the South Incánus. In the North Gandalf. To the East I go not.”
A Journey in the Dark is one of the most beautiful things I've heard in my life. The part I'm talking about is only 1 minute long (1:04 to 2:03) but it lets so many emotions flow. I cannot describe them with words. It always makes me cry.
Ai, Mithrandir o Randir mithren. Long has he wandered the world of Men. Long has he held the secret fire of Arnor which rekindles the hope in the hearts of many. Long and ever has he opposed the darkness of Mordor from Sauron his enemy. Long did he fell in the chasm of Khazad Dum fighting Morgoth's Bane from dungeon to peak. Long, be it from Eldar or Edain or Dwarf or Hobbit, has he been considered as wiser and more powerful than meets the eye. And much longer, yet, shall it be ere we have such a master piece made, the legacy of which endures in our hearts.
I was listening to the "Sound of Middle-Earth" playlist as I always do, but today I noticed a difference in the music, only to realize that you added a new video lol! Amazing job, these are fantastic!
Will write what I write, love your stuff mate you deserve more views and subscribers. But some people can't respect and see quality before them. Keep it up 😁😁
I wish it need not have happened in my time. so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.'"

Gandalf the Grey because he's more grounded and relatable. Gandalf the White is more in touch with his God side and this more powerful but he's less human
Its always nice to see I haven't been forgotten in the world of men.
Samuel Graden that statement isn’t true. Wizards are Maiar. Maiar aided the ultimate god in creating the world. Maiar are immortal and can take every form they want. Both Sauron and the Balrogs are corrupted Maiar. They took the form of old men because they look wise
Dear Mithrandir, do not speak of such things! You shall always be in our hearts even unto your journey West.
Yes, mithrandir, you will never be forgotten.
I will never forget you, Gandalf
You have never been, n will never be
PIPPIN: I didn't think it would end this way.

Really cant imagine any other casting for Gandalf. Such an iconic role for an iconic series.

Robert Brown correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the soloist on this a young boy soprano? lol
cwopre I don't know about the movie recordings, but the live performance I saw was sung by a woman.
How I envy you sir!
Her name is Renee Fleming, I'm pretty sure.
@@Mrreowmeowmrreowmrowmeow No this isn't Renee Fleming. Renee only sang music for The Return of the King. I forgot the name of this woman.
Mithrandir, the physical form of the great Olorin is the wisest of the wise and the most honorable of the honorable. He would've made a great father figure. The embodiment of the wise old man archetype.
I love that Tolkien basically popularised that archetype. He didn't create it per se, but he certainly brought it into popular modern awareness.
I thinm a series about Gandalf would be interesting. Since he must've done A LOT of things between arriving in Middle-Earth and taking Bilbo off on his adventures. :-)
When the movies came out I was 17. I've always said I wish Gandalf was my grandpa.
