Interesting to see this video. A little story...2 weeks before Christmas last year (2020) I decorated my Christmas tree. The next morning I noticed the diamond from my engagement ring was missing! 😳 I searched the bed, checked the U-bends in all the sinks, vacuumed all the floors, but nothing. Then one night I remembered that I had decorated the Christmas tree the night before I had lost it and maybe, just maybe, the diamond got caught in the tree! I couldn’t wait to dismantle the tree and see if it was there, so as soon as New Year’s celebrations were over on New Year’s Day 2021 I dismantled the tree and shook it and shook it but nothing. I was sooo disappointed. I was just about to give up so I gave the tree one last massive shake and just like magic the diamond fell out!! I couldn’t believe my eyes!!! I’ve now had the diamond set back into my engagement ring and it looks brand new as the jeweller gave it a lovely clean and polish too💍👍🏼
After I inherited two platinum rings from the late aunt of my boyfriend we had them revised and repaired. Some of the stones were missing on one of them and it was bend. The other one just needed a good clean and maintenance. We have already decided that one of them is going to be my engagement ring whenever the bf is ready to pop the question😂💍😉❤️
Just had to go through the comments to try and find where I can find this track to find out you wrote it with a friend. Please, please release it in some form it’s SO good
Been doing bench work for 4 years under apprenticeship and ur videos really motivate me to keep pushing even when my fingers sting and a job seems so difficult

What you do and how do it is just amazing! Maybe could you make a video of how to maintain the jewelry on a regular basis? THX!
This is awesome, never ever thought about jewelry maintenance.. wife has a box full of jewelry that was handed down for generations, never worn because of “loose stones “ I believe we’re going to look for a quality jewelry repair near us and see about getting all that stuff maintained and repaired… amazing how this video just popped up
Thank you! I did it a lil different since I had the ring no stone, so I cut an Ethiopian Opal and now will do the claws. Just wanted to make sure I had the right idea of doing it!!
I LOVE watching your videos and would love to know more, would you consider putting text on screen with names of tools you are using, names of the processes, or materials? For example, I was very intrigued by what you put on the ring in 1:40 before adding more gold? 🤔
How many rings do you find that the customer thinks has a diamond, but the stone is really something different (like Moissanite, CZ, etc)? Also, how do you feel about emeralds? I used to live in the Caribbean, and there emeralds are considered a real investment because they never lose their value - and, people even use them as currency for major purchases (usually those 'under the table' kind of purchases)... Lastly, how do you feel about opals? I've always taken great care of mine and had worn them only infrequently and for mere hours at a time, but all of them have wound up cracking.
Idk why the Ariana ring video was recommended to me but now I’m here.. hahah. What a cool video, & even pocketed that quick maintenance tip for my future self . This gave me a little nostalgia as if I were watching the show How It’s Made on Discovery again ! (Canadian) lol
When you send a lifetime warranty ring back to the manufacturer. Just to have the loose high school crest plain with no stone remounted. Does the 10k gold have to be heated, if so will it lose it’s original block initials? From the interior band? Thank you so much for any of your shared knowledge. Daniel
I would love to get some more info about how often I can safely get my ring polished. I’ve seen some places online say not to get it polished much at all because it will break down the gold and weaken the ring. Is this true?
New subscriber here, love your channel!! Can you upload this amazing song to Spotify or somewhere else accessible? It is amazing!! My daily quarantine runs would be upgraded x1000 if I could listen to this haha!
Hi. I enjoy your channel very much. Can you tell me what kind of stone setting this is? I prefer the stone to be closer to the ringband and not very high on top of it like most solitaires are set.
Yo, i'm a new subscriber to your channel and i'm a fairly new student to jewellery, I'd like to know what this "retipping" that you mentioned towards the end of the video is about. I didn't find any maintenance videos on your channel, so i thought it would be okay to ask. Thanks in advance.
I have this snake ring with a bunch of little gems in it and all of them are a little loose and extremely dirty and today one of them fell out. I found the gem but I don’t know what to do with it because there isn’t any prongs
If I wanted to change the stone of my ring at some point, so I need to find a stone that has the exact same measurements as the previous stone or would the jeweler need to completely change my ring?! I have a pear shaped Halo setting.
Your videos are usually a bit more soothing, because of the consistency of the sound, i think it will be better to adjust the levels a little bit lower for the music parts ! Great video otherwise, i really need to get my rings a check up !
Hi I saw that your open to some questions. I’m on here looking for a answer to a ring I just bought. It has a very delicate setting and I noticed it has jeweler’s glue all around the stone just below the girdle and under it’s prongs. I’m not mush for getting out to the jewelry repair place and I sure don’t want to pay extra just after buying the ring online. Can you tell me how I can remove the glue? I gather a fine topped craft craft knife? And possibly nail polish remover is safe for sapphires? And 18k gold. Thanks for being open to answer questions and being a down to earth guy that I can feel comfortable asking. 😁👍🏻
Hi! I would not do anything to the ring without contacting the place you bought it from...jewelers "glue" should never be used to set a stone properly unless it is a piece of costume jewelry. But to answer your question, yes I usually use something like acetone to dissolve glue. Of course you want to make sure the materials you are applying the acetone to can handle it first!
Modern Goldsmith Thank you for the sound advice. I bought it on eBay where I’ve always done pretty well considering it’s a gamble. I have asked the seller and while she/ he has been very well spoken and courteous. It’s obviously something they didn’t want to address. I asked about the his of the ring and my guess is they came by this ring as possibly a estate sell. It’s a very delicate setting of 18k and nothing but a simple cage like head. I bought it because the person selling seems straight forward enough and I know I have a way out of it isn’t what it’s claimed to be. But I do like it as is. But there’s no way I could live with the glue holding it like it is. I saw last night a man testing stone to see if they were real by soaking them in acetone. 😳🤯😱 Draining color out within a hour and soaking them over night on top of it. They were real rubies. But treated with coloring. I would never be so foolish as to do any drastic like that. I’m going to see what I can do myself with a craft knife and a little Super glue remover. And if I can stop by the jewelry repair shop I go to. To see what they would do to remover it. But I might just be the best. Because it’s mine and I will go gentle at it. Till I know what it is I won’t use it in a ultrasonic cleaner either. Thanks for your prompt reply. I wish I could post a pic here but it’s not FB. 😉
Modern Goldsmith Update. No glue it had oil or something that look just like it had glue. Who knows, it could be what made others no bid. So I got a beautiful stone and a great deal‼️😁👍🏻🙌🏻 Just wanted you sat now I don’t have to worry about ruining anything. Have a great day!
I have an 18K (750) yellow gold Religious pendant. The eyelet is worn and broken open. The oval shaped loop is gone. What should I expect to pay for repair of the eyelet and a new 18K hoop thing. A small hoop thing that a chain goes through. 😁😁 >Wayne
My problem is everytime I take it in it seems that it needs replacing. That adds up. My mother in laws never had her rings cleaned or inspected and yes they need cleaned but she has all her stones.
...and if you do happen to lose your stone, make sure that BEFORE you lose it you INSURE it! Insurance is a very small price to pay (maybe $10-13 per month). I lost a large pink sapphire and it was replaced immediately. The replacement cost was over $3,000 just for the stone. So when I looked down and saw a huge hole where the stone should have been, I didn't panic. Just called the insurance company.
Hey! I have a question for you. I have a bezel set blue diamond that I want put into a different setting. My jeweler told me there is a chance of my stone cracking when that's done because it's bezel set and harder to get out. How likely is damage to happen to a stone when resetting it? Thanks for any help!
Ugh … I have one empty ring (lost the stone), and one where it looks like part of the amethyst chipped out from underneath. I’d be at your door tomorrow if you were closer to Chicago.
This has happened to me once thx God my stones we fake. My band is rose gold by the way. I got it fix year ago kinda because of this video I didn't know I could get it fixed.
I got a question, my ring is holding little pebble diamonds by bars across the top an bottom. Does that need to be inspected? It doesn't have any tips and I'm not sure of the holding bar would ever get loose and all those diamonds would slide off.
That happened to my mom's diamond engagement ring! She replaced it with a cubic zirconia. I can't see her ever paying to get her ring inspected that often though 😂

I love the way the stone sits on that ring. It makes it look almost like a flower. Lovely work!
I'm binge watching all your videos and I must admit. I love the video style you use. It makes it fun, funny and informative all at once!

Just posted a long one! Thank you so much for the kind words!
Keep up the good work!😊
My jeweller is a family owned business. They do free maintenance and cleans for jewellery purchased there 😊
Many independently owned jewelers offer that service. Sadly, many independent jewelers are closing shop for good. 😔

Great video! Loved the music. How much does doing the tips typically cost?
Thanks! It depends on the materials and if the stone needs to be pulled or not. Usually in the $100-$300 range!
I work as a jeweler and goldsmith as well and see this exact style of ring missing stones and broken prongs all the time.
Interesting for people who love jewelry.

I live in SoCal, wish I lived near you to inspect a family ring 😭
Prongs and a loose stone are why my engagement band is locked away until I find a reputable jeweler to service it. 😉
Just binging all his videos thanks RUclips don’t mind me
I would like to start crafting jewelry, where would you suggest I start?

I understand your dilemma & sentiment, why not contact Jordan via his website? The address is in the description box below the video. Good luck.
I actually think the rounded tips looked kind of nice, before you filled them down. I've never seen a ring where they left them on though, and I don't know how you'd get the stone in. It looks kind of like a crown.

I have a ring that has the rounded prongs. Does look like a crown indeed. Very nice.
I am just thinking about how much gold dust is in the air. He wakes up and breathes gold.....
That stone looks weird. Maybe it's the lighting but it looks like a diamond that was improperly colour treated. The colour/saturation isn't solid.
