I would go through it and refresh the engine , restore the seat , cleanup the interior and kinda put it back like it was. I like the truck, it’s pretty straight and didn’t even fuss with you about the rad leaks all that way home! If I lived nearby I would help you with it!
Not really use full to have a Compressor these days , or just to fill up tires. We got electric powertools to work with . All right is there so , better make it useable 🤷♂️👍

This would be a great going to town rig while also maintaining its functionality as a service rig. Would love to see it restored as it was meant to be. Love all you do! Thanks
Looks like a perfect revival truck for you. It's a 3/4 ton so perfect for pulling a trailer & towing things back home. You also can get lots of content with fixing the rust, rebuilding the 350, painting the truck & its service bed as well as the air tank, even fixing all the floor jacks & let Jessica & the boys pick out the paint & interior colors for it.
I agree with all you said, but that air tank doesn't do anything for me. Maybe one down in the bed would be better. But it would make a good revival truck. I'm sure that Jessica could come up with a great looking interior.
Don't know how I manage to sit through and watch these videos you make. Wait, I know , because I enjoy them! Thank you and never give up, there's always one more drive left in them.
First one with a working radio, you could feel his excitement through the screen! 🙂 The work you and your family do to keep this channel on a high educational, amusing and moral level is important and so much appreciated!! Greetings from Belgium. Take care always!
We had a lot of these 3/4 ton work trucks. They were all 350’s with 3 speed auto. With 411 gears and one 16 gallon fuel tank, the range was about 80 miles and that’s how far our plant was from the nearest large town. No aircon, no radio, great in the summer in the south. We had 2 colors of interiors, either tan or blue. The local upholstery shop kept two spare seats in stock, a tan and a blue. We generally wore them out about once a year. Looks like he drove that seat about 30 years.
A guy doesn't know the fine details of his Chevrolets, but if I am not mistaken, wouldn't there be a good chance that's a 4-bolt main block being in an HD truck?
Definitely keep the service truck theme. Refresh the Motor, throw your flare on the truck and use it at your local events. Even pull a single vehicle to a local event and have tools there. Welder on board and everything. I’d like to see what you’re version of an every day service truck would be.
Keep it as a service truck or put on board air on ramp truck, love the channel, and you saving old steel. Keep doing what you do sir, I watch all the episodes over and over and learn something new each time. Love how your boys are getting older doing what you do to continue your legacy. Very cool. I also love the progression of pole barn too.

A working radio!? Must be a sign. I would love to see this one fixed up, you could even do a series on that, and use it to revive some other projects closer to home. Great job Mr. Bieri!!!
Derek, my thoughts on what to do with this truck would be make a project out of it. Pull the engine and tranny, do a quick refresh of the engine with new rings, bearings, and rework the valves, seals and gaskets. Then replace the clutch, make needed brake repairs. For the body, clean up the rust, and preserve the rest of the surface, maybe even apply a VGG wrap. Obviously you would redo the interior. Then use the truck around your home, for running to town for parts and supply's. You could even use it for resurrection's, (take your tools and parts with you) if you had a helper ride along with you to drive it back. Maybe you could even have a selection process and pick a fan to ride along and help and drive. A lot of possibility's.
The decision probably got made months ago, but I'm thinking you've brought home enough GM products with good-enough 350s to just swap one out for this engine, then you have one to get rebuilt nicely and drop into whatever car or truck could use it. I don't know enough about your business to know whether there's room in your service fleet for this one, but if so just throw some VGG branding on the doors and throw on some wiper blades? Maybe even a seat? Or a temp gauge that's not broken off, naah! Thanks for the excellent channel!

I know you've done it before, but I'd love to see it again with a different engine. Do as cheap a rebuild on that old engine as you can. Keeping in mind most of us guys could learn a thing or 3, how to do it on a budget. The wife and kids gotta eat you know ;) Thank you Derek and especially the family supporting him being so busy.
I just wanted to take a moment to appreciate all the types of content you put out. No-one knows just how much work and effort each video is and how long it takes to get everything in place. You're a hard worker through and through! Make sure to get some rest and cold snacks though. (not because you look tired or anything, I assume you work near around the clock to keep all these videos rolling with traveling and all the project you have it must be alot on the ol' to-do list not to make mention of the should-do list.)
That's a nice looking square bud !!! Rip the service stuff off, do a cheap re ring rebuild, and give her a good old paint job with some new kickers and rim's. She'd be a great going to town truck.
I would say keep it as a service truck to have extra tools in and parts .. so when you go do another revival close you have everything you need.. love all your videos ❤

Hey Derek, I vote for keeping it a service truck that you take on future, "will it drive" vids. That way, you'll have just about everything you'll need. tools, air, a compartment for fluids, jack stands, and hopefully, one of those 4 jacks will work. As always, great content. Thanks! Chuck.
Derek I think you keep the tank, mount it in the bed lower and keep the air compressor, strip off the boxes and put in a lower profile tool box that you have laying around so it can be a revival/going to town rig. Just a thought. Keep up the great content!!
I like that a lot. Where he can just load whatever he needs into the truck without having to make constant trips to the store for whatever he needs. It obviously would be a major time saver when doing revivals.
I think it would be awesome to see this rig all fixed up! Get that 'ol compressor working again, clean up the air tank & tool boxes. Then have a Vice Grip Garage Mobile work truck! Just to have around for some of the revivals & such. I'd love to see the breakdown on that compressor & how it all functions in the' ol rig. Thanks for sharing as always. & Happy Mother's Day to all the VGG Family!
I wish my Granddad was still alive to watch your films Derek, Sadly he's been off the road for 31 years and I don't think even you could get his motor running again... Weight reduction is probably fully complete now. Anyhoo, he was a lifetime classic car fanatic and home mechanic and I now work on my 2 Vanagons over the pond here in the UK and discovered you only this week via Roadworthy Restorations. Love it all. Just perfect demeanour for the shit these things can throw at you. And your love of old motors shines through. I'm now a VGG binge-a-holic. Thanks dude.
Hey Derek. Just a young feller in his early 20s struggling with life here. Thank you so much for all the content. I can't imagine the amount of work that goes into making this, so more than just the awesome content, you help inspire a guy to do stuff.
Nice score! I'd lean toward pulling off the air-pump rig/rack and getting her closer to stock unless you plan to mobile service big tire blowouts (which prob explains all the dead jacks in the bed). It's a cool piece of history, for sure, but not sure how useful it would be in the modern scenario in '83 spec. Would be great to see future videos on cleaning this one up and making her sing like she used to. Love me a manual work truck! Cheers from Chicago
I was just about to sleep. (It's 1.22AM here in Sweden) Then i see a notification from you. Then i just gotta watch it. I just can't get enough of your videos. Especially the revivals.. you have inspired me for s few revivals. 2 of them i still own :)
Derek, I’m a Brit with lots of love for America and especially the American people I’ve met. You restore my belief that there’s good people everywhere, trying to get up and out from under a crushingly poor hand they’ve been dealt. You’re an example of an old fashioned, proper way to be. Thank you. Mike
Personally I'd return it to a regular truck and strip all that extra stuff off. Repair the rust and get her looking good, maybe even a new paint job. Follow that with new engine seals and a standard rebuild. With that it would be even more dependable and fun. Great episode, thanks for sharing :)
Watching your time-lapse of the drive back to the shop really made me miss my home state of Tennessee. Studying engine building out of state right now. Say a prayer for a feller!

Touching base Derek, you never forget where you started.Thats why we consider you real people.I think this rig should be restored as a personal service rig. Then use it to go pick up and get on the road other drive home finds.Jessica might appreciate that.Great work ,and the line that I remember is,"I need a Tanya Harding, that was a street punch.
im a big fan of the service truck flavour of this particular rig. Even if it has a regular bed. Id actually love this rig for myself, what with having the on-board compressor and such. It also reminds me of a welding rig my uncle had in the 90s.
Thanks for the FREE content ,as always great stuff.I think some people forget that we work 40 hours a week but you and your wife put alot more hours in than that ,been watching from the start.Thank you very much
I think it's time for VGG to dabble in the diesel world. A nice 12 valve cummins would make that a really good revival rig with the boxes and such. Plus those 12 valves don't have the digitals and we know that makes a feller happy. Just food for thought. Keep up the good work!
One of my favorite parts of your revivals are the ways you get home. I've done your backroads trips from Tampa Bay to Tennessee more than once, not out of necessity but out of adventure. I could drive Tennessee and North Carolina country roads for hours and never tire of it, especially with a ragtop.

Keeping in mind most of us guys could learn a thing or 3, how to do it on a budget. The wife and kids gotta eat you know ;) Thank you Derek and especially the family supporting him being so busy.
A guy just never gets tired of seeing a feller on here. Long time fan and love the content as usual.
“More hose than a L.A night club”. Had me rolling.
Came straight to the comments looking for this exact one 😂
😂so did I!
☠️☠️☠️
Me too! Kinda spicy for this channel! Hahahaha
Me too! 😂😂
Cool, merci.
I’d love the idea of turning one of these rigs into like a JC Whitney catalog special. All the old man tricks and traits.
Vice always make Friday’s better every time he makes the will it run and drive home I LOVE THIS SERIES 😂
What is that an old camaira front end back dair?
It's impressive to see the level of dedication and hard work that's gone into restoring this old Chevy service truck. ❤
That smell inspection and analysis gets me every time! Priceless!
I would say keep it as a service truck to have extra tools in and parts .. so when you go do another revival close you have everything you need.. love all your videos ❤
Just wanted to say love the show. Me and the wife were in Croatia on vacation in a resort watching you fix on things! Keep it going man!
Thank you Derek, your kind words to Halfass Kustoms only proves you are a man of integrity and care about others. I'm so happy to be part of the VGG family and Halfass Kustoms. Brent may not have your level of subs but his fans are loyal, cheers!
yes i didnt hear him shout out for halfass man t y vice 20 years gone up in smoke still he will come back t y again
@@ThomasPrior-wv6zn Derek did make a touching comment regarding Brents shop loss.

Friday night VGG ... nothing better
Thanks for tuning in
I never get enough of these videos! Great work as usual.
“Wish I had the old Tanya Harding”. Priceless as always
From filming with phone quality in the driveway, to having a discovery channel show and one of the best youtubes i came across..
You deserve it all brother keep it up ! ❤
Thank you so much
Always working to keep getting us content. Thank you Dereks for doing what you do. Hope Jessica has a happy Mother’s Day!!!
Hey Derek,
I vote for keeping it a service truck that you take on future, "will it drive" vids. That way, you'll have just about everything you'll need. tools, air, a compartment for fluids, jack stands, and hopefully, one of those 4 jacks will work. As always, great content. Thanks!
Chuck.
Derek this is a keeper the body is not in bad shape! And the most important thing is that 350 CI fired up and got you home!
Great job Derek!
Love these revivals you do!!!
I just love these videos. Saving old cars and driving them home, showing magnificent views from the road.
Great entertainment as always Derek. As for Remington's future... I'd say that trucks soul is a service truck, keep it a service truck.
If you ever want to sell it let me know I'll buy just like she is and I'll drop me a new Big block in it and use it as my work truck
You beat me to the idea. Completely agree!
But how does he drive the new revival truck and the resurrected both back? Ya know, 600 miles…
@@Saltshaker2016 Bring a buddy or the wife by saying we’re going to an exclusive get away retreat off the beaten path!
From the state of the tank's mounting brackets, was an attempt made to drive under the 11'8" bridge?
Thanks for Commenting…. Interestingly, me too..
Derek, when pouring ANYTHING from o bottle you have to side pour it.
Take the “bottle”, turn it on it’s side and pour slowly.
No more glug,glug.
Hey Derek. Just a young feller in his early 20s struggling with life here. Thank you so much for all the content.
I can't imagine the amount of work that goes into making this, so more than just the awesome content, you help inspire a guy to do stuff.
You got it buddy
(It's 1.22AM here in Sweden)
Then i see a notification from you.
Agreed. Could also mount those tool boxes on a flatbed if you have one laying around out there.
Keep the revival videos coming, love em!!!!
Watching your time-lapse of the drive back to the shop really made me miss my home state of Tennessee. Studying engine building out of state right now. Say a prayer for a feller!
Here in England 🏴 we’re just seeing The first series of Roadworthy Rescues and wanted to say how much I enjoy it …. Nice to see you’ve kept the humour the same as vice grip … 😎🤙
Where can we watch that Steve?
Touching base Derek, you never forget where you started.Thats why we consider you real people.I think this rig should be restored as a personal service rig. Then use it to go pick up and get on the road other drive home finds.Jessica might appreciate that.Great work ,and the line that I remember is,"I need a Tanya Harding, that was a street punch.
Got more hose than an LA night club...that's even better
Love your ‘rescues’, they always provide ample material for your amazing sense of humour to shine.
It'd be neat to see this truck driven by a buddy as a support vehicle on power tour!
I had an 81 model. Straight 6 with a 3 on the tree. Wish i still had it. Great trucks.
im a big fan of the service truck flavour of this particular rig.
Keep up the good work!
jay wolfe? that is a KCMO owned dealership, original badge, or added as a used unit?
Dang it feller all the videos in one week. Absolutely love it thanks Derek. Hope you and family all are well.
One of my favorite parts of your revivals are the ways you get home. I've done your backroads trips from Tampa Bay to Tennessee more than once, not out of necessity but out of adventure. I could drive Tennessee and North Carolina country roads for hours and never tire of it, especially with a ragtop.
Yes after u put hand on it it's going anywhere I know this for a fact been watching u for some year 😂😂😂😂
When watching a master at work keep it coming derrick started my motivation streak I appreciate u an don't stop the magic r I'll just be dipped 😂😂😂😂
I'll be dipped. Burnout builds, racing, and revivals all in one week!
Thanks for watching
Just clean him up good, little patena protection, spark plugs wires cap n rotor, and you got yourself a sick ward rig for sure! Man, I love watching your channels Derek! Always entertaining AND enlightening! Keep up the amazing work Sir!
Great revival! Nice rig. I’d get rid of the service box and make her a going to town rig. Replace the seat also. Thanks for another great video.
i love looking through old trucks and seeing what treasures await
We finally get another will it run and drive upload, nice 👍.
