- Medusa Steel Coaster at Six Flags Mexico proves to be one of the best roller coasters in the world! This wood/steel hybrid coaster was converted from the old Medusa CCI wooden roller coaster by Rocky Mountain Construction in 2014 and it is pure AWESOME!!!

Still looks like one of the best RMCs, but then again every RMC is one of the best RMCs.

I’d say this is actually one of the weaker rmcs just due to the laterals/turns instead of airtime. I guess I just prefer more airtime

These wooden / steel hybrids might just be the next big thing. That looked monstrous. Wooden coasters around the world will all come back to life with this!

RMC is a great company. At rides like This, New Texas Giant, Twisted Colossus, Iron Rattler, Wicked Cyclone. All great rides.

I haven’t ridden any RMCs yet, so I have no official opinion, but just judging from on-ride POV vids, Medusa looks like it might be the most intense of them all. Incredible how it maintains such high speeds throughout! If I didn’t have any motivation to travel to Mexico before, I do now!
That's just about the most impressive coaster *and* the most impressive *video* of a coaster I've ever seen. Anyone watching this, make sure you watch it in 720p or 1080p so you can see it in its full 60fps glory. Holy crap!
The coaster that will replace Colossus in California will be of similar design. Steel track with wooden theming and lots of flipping.
Watch it full screen, it's like you're on the ride.
TPR has several great coaster review vids. The new trend in hybrid Steel/Wood scream machines is quite intriguing. The ones here in TX are a lot of fun.

These vids are awesome, and the 60FPS looks great !
The problem is that for me, Chrome can't play 60 FPS and drops probably 80% of the frames. Might anyone have any solutions to this?

RMC did a outstanding job on Mean Streak! I was lucky enough to get to ride it more than once last year. I think Untamed comes in at second place for me although I'll never get to ride that one...

You know. I'm disappointed how the UK doesn't have these types of woodies, we only seem to keep the old ones that were built in the 1930's. :(

This is the best RMC coaster. TC doesn't have the crazy elements

This ride looks incredibly smooth.
A lot of the roller coasters you have been on that are steel, but from a distance look like wood. Although one things for sure I would not trust a wooden roller coaster to do a loop-de-loop or a corkscrew.
Nikki Villemaire these rides are designed so that they are safe. And it isn't a loop de loop. God gp am I right? 😂

Yo no me he sub ido a esta nueva medusa, pero incluso la medusa de antes se sentia mas fuerte que el superman, el superman por alguna razon no se siente mucho esa sensacion en el estomago.
Que tu boca se haga chicharrón, Medusa es genial pero Superman es lo triple.
@Abraham LB No porque sea más alta, es más fuerte, no he montado la nueva medusa, me subí a la antigua medusa en año de su estreno (años 2000) y se sentía horrible, cuando me subí al Superman igualmente cuando estreno, fue bastante decepcionante ya que solo la primera bajada sentías lo que le dicen air tim, esa sensación extraña en el estómago..lo demás era un viaje bonito.
Así incluso la antigua medusa era más fuerte que el Superman...aunque lo malo de la antigua medusa es que como eran vías de madera, se fueron desgastando, haciendo su viajes en sus últimos años sumamente brusco, y agresivos, además de perder mucha velocidad, y ya no se sentía tan intensa.

Awesome ride! Fast and aggressive. Appropriate name, I was petrified of fear by the barrel rolls, but the descents and curves are a delight...and I ride again

The video is weird, it's incredibly high quality but it feels like my eyes don't know what to do with it. I felt like I absorbed less information from the screen than I normally do with 30fps. I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually but for now it totally freaks me out!

Any chance we could potentially see a Diamondback at Kings Island POV? It was ranked 4th best steel coaster in the world in last years Golden Ticket Awards and I don't think there are any mounted POVs of the ride except for the 144p one that came out in 2009 with no audio.
Not the best RMC I have ever seen but all of them are amazing in their own way

This video in particular feels awkwardly accelerated but I guess that's 60fps + RMC for you.
The pace and speed look great on this ride, everything is just back-to-back! Way better than the when it was the original CGI piece of crap.

on rmcs you can really see where the airtime is because the paint doesn't wear off on the crests of hills

Tops out at 55 mph. Which is pretty good for a 105 ft tall coaster.

If this ride goes upside down. Why do they only have a lap bar and not the one that goes over chest?
You don't need the shoulder restraints for this type of ride, the lap bars are sufficient to provide safety. It means your upper body gets more freedom and adds to the thrill

eh21733 It would only ever be an issue if the train actually stopped upside down, and it is carrying too much momentum to do so. It'd be impossible for you to fall out
