    Look at Schaeffer's fuel additives...... 1 gallon treats 3000 gallons.... used it for 2 million miles, top shelf product

    Perfect timing for me. Im installing a 60 gallon tool box tank this week and didnt think about flex and rubbing. Ill stop by Tractor Supply before I put it in. Im starting RV delivery in the next couple weeks and your videos have been a HUGE help!

    I built service trucks with alum. storage tanks for 15 years. You are going to rip that tank apart they way they bolted it down. The rubber mat is exactly how we mounted our alum. tanks so that part is right but you need to put longer bolts in with a spring that holds the head of the bolt up about an inch. It does not mount the tank rigid like it but holds the tank in place. It will make that tank last forever.

    Great video with a lot of good information. I like the horse mat idea. With the roads like they are, these tanks have to take a beaten no doubt. Been using Lucas fuel treatment myself. I hear good things about the hotshot but haven't tried. I use a on and off solenoid for my fuel transfer and that is working good for me right now. But like you said, we learn as we go and from others too! Have a Blessed Day Daniel! Justin

    Lucus definitely adds 1 to 3 mpg.... Kleen raises the cetane and boost peak performance which I have experienced and at least 1 mpg pickup.
    The greatest thing that I did for my 5.9 cummins is install spintec no spin hubs the truck handles much better and has much less drag to the point you can feel the difference. Thanks for the video Daniel, next on my list is an auxiliary tank.

    Hey Daniel, How much does the additives increase your cost of a gallon fuel? It is hard to question your success but I would suggest that the additives are doing very little to protect your fuel system. My background is that I am a retired engineer from one of the major diesel engine manufacturers. During my tenure I was responsible for fuel injection systems. The only additive we ever used was anti-gel additive during winter testing. An algicide may also be helpful if you have bacteria growing in your tank but that is kind of rare. I guarantee the large trucking fleets are not using additives because there is no benefit. Hot Shot talk of stiction in the fuel system is a myth. Varnish can occur in fuel systems but only after long storage.
    Fuel filtration is extremely important. Save your money on additives and buy premium filters.
    Love your channel and the content.

      If you have the CP 4 fuel system you had better run a additive. Google around. A pain in the rear problem with costly down time.

    I would love to see detailed pictures of your set up. I’m looking at adding on and do not want to mess with hand filling the truck. Would love to have a pump.

    • @carolinagoldbug983
      @carolinagoldbug983 3 года назад +1

      Not sure if you already did the ‘add-on’, but you don’t need a pump with a fill switch. You can opt for a simple gravity-feed tank. It just automatically feeds your OEM truck tank as it empties. Don’t have to do a thing. There’s still a gauge on the aux tank to show how full it is, but basically when the fuel gauge in your instrument cluster starts to move, you know the aux tank is empty. Time to fill up. Most of the time I just know (based on mileage) when my aux tank is getting low, and I’ll fill up the tank at that time. I rarely have to stick a diesel pump into the truck tank. I just fuel up the aux tank.

    But yeah. For OTR with a pickup, you NEED an aux tank. Period. I figured the size of my OEM (32 gallons)…..my expected mileage under-load (10-13 mpg) and figured I did NOT want to be looking for a refill every 200 or so miles. Uh-uh. No way. I got the tank BEFORE I started hauling. Never looked back. Any of the newbies ask my opinion at places like Dually Depot and I give them a resounding “YES”! Get the auxiliary fuel tank.

    Dan, I have a quick question for you. I am going to park my gooseneck and start pulling RV’s for a bit. The top of my tank measures exactly 4” above the bed rail. Never a problem with a gooseneck trailer.The tanks sits in an 8’ bed. My question is to you do you think there would be any interference with the newer 5th wheel trailers? Other than jacking the heck out of it while backing up.
    Thanks Stay Safe!

    • @1markgarcia
      @1markgarcia 2 года назад +1

      Hi Dan, typically there must be 54 inches of clearance in front of the fifth wheel kingpin. Anything that extends above the bed of the pick-up within this area, including tool box or tank will interfere with the towing of a fifth wheel unit and often companies will require removal before dispatching. Hope this helps.

  • @dptp9lf

    Just a thought but i'm wondering if straps(probably stainless) over the tank would be a better setup for tie downs? Of course you would want them cushioned in rubber? May not look as nice but i think there would be more surface area for holding power yet letting the tank "breathe"? Anyway, JMHO
