APR 21 2024: Feral mama-to-be Berkeley has eluded us for more than a year! We were FINALLY able to trap her using our remote-triggering robo-trap. She's pregnant, and will give birth for the last time in our care. Because she is feral, we will take a very specific approach to her pregnancy, labor, and raising her final litter of kittens in order to minimize her stress and maximize her + kittens well-being. Mama is progressing and seems to enjoy the perks of human attention and treats! But she's still hand-shy. Funny how she clearly understands the difference between a scratcher or spoon and a hand.
Every time I see Mama Berkeley, I am blown away at how stunning she is. Her colouring and eyes are gorgeous.
The kittens are precious pudgy potats. Such a fun age to watch them waddle and discover.
She is so beautiful. I hope they can truly tame her as it would be such a shame to see her returned to a feral community.
@@LadyIarConnacht I agree with Miss Shelly when she decides what the cat wants, the cats get. Hibbing has been in twice and back twice, so far. And then there is Chloe.
But, Berkeley took a year to get. So I worry she would go back deep in the Brambles. I have fingers crossed she might be like Pomelo and certain circumstances will allow her to be adopted.

Amazing how relaxed she is compared to a few weeks ago! She doesn't seem at all worried about Shelley handling her babies and she definitely enjoys snacks. And the kittens are too cute for words. What a wonderful little family - I'm glad we have the opportunity to watch them.
Berkley is such a good mama, very protective of her littles. I'm amazed how far she has come since she has been at TK, her tolerance of hoomins getting near her babies is wonderful. 😻😻

That was so great of mama Berkeley to accept brush pets from Shelly.🥰👏🏻👏🏻😺. She was also doing so great with her receiving the food and eating it too. However, I think Shelly moved too quickly or just when Berkeley didn’t want any attention and was done too. But however, great progress for her too.🥳🎊👏🏻👏🏻😺❤️. She is a beautiful and wonderful cat and I feel that in her mind she knows Shelly is wanting to loving towards Berkeley but at the same time, Berkeley still wants to hold onto her feral ways and remind the humans she’s not gonna be nice all the time. But she did awesome and the little ones are so big nd cute too. They too seem to not be too sure of humans also so does they mean they have the feral instinct from mom? Mr. age just had a frisky one not too frisky, but he kept working on the cat and she was to see. I don’t know he did but he kept working with the cat now she’s just a sweet cat kept working with her broke her. He has a wife just keep playing with her hang out with her give her more people time, she’s a whole different kitty Tomorrow she’s got someone coming get her for forever home she won’t have to stay at the shelter with Mr. and Dr. DJ she went schooling for something. I don’t know what it is.❤❤

TK will try. But in the end, it's always what's best for the cat. If Berkeley does not allow human touch, she will go back to her colony. After she's spayed of course. The kittens will be adopted out. We've seen quite a few momma cats that just don't want to be around humans.

Where is the litter tray, scratch post etc? Is it just that section they are in?
There are lots of things for Mama out in the main room. This is the view from a camera in the nest cabinet that Mama has her kittens safe inside; which has doors with a hole in one door for her to get out into the room. Those doors are open for Shelly's visit, but closed the rest of the time. Once the kittens are bigger, in a week or so, there will be a small nest expansion; then a few weeks later a full release into the whole room. The second camera is out in a corner of the main room.

Mama has blue eyes, so the kittens might keep their blue eyes. All kittens are born with blue eyes that eventually change to their permanent eye color around 3-5 months.
I bet kitty is a peoples kitty she wants tension do you like her peoples? She needs to go to a forever home with someone’s black isn’t real busy has time at my house work part time at home and still have that time for cuddles. I like that name they gave her it’s gonna be hard to see ago but it’s good to see where she is going people that have a lot of time for her on the owner does part-time job at home won’t be and I’m glad they just don’t let the cats or kittens go before they check the background life. They make sure they go to good people if they have a good background if they pass then they can have a mom cat or kitten make sure they have a background check good then if they pass, then they can have one. I’m glad they’re really stripped down it talking about a different cat show.❤❤

Slow down and do everything you are doing at a slower pace. Stay on the approach long enough for her to feel okay with what you are doing. I have raised a few strays with kittens that are afraid of people. Moving too fast is frightening and makes the cat defensive.
