Shoulder Openers on my Stahl Bars

  • Have had these bars for years but have been greatly underutilized! I received a set of wonderful gymnastics coaching texts with some conditioning ideas and it just opened up new ideas for these bars.
    The first part of the exercise is simple, just kick up to handstand with hands about 12" away from the wall. Your feet will touch the wall, then you can cue the next step as "sit on the wall". This part is a great opener for the upper back.
    Next you can walk the hands a further 10" away from the wall, and walk the feet down the rungs of the ladder working of the flexibility of the spine. When you find a comfortable lower level, you can hook your toes in for safety, and push away from the wall to straighten the legs and again open up the shoulders
