    Prayers to Damon and his family upon the untimely death of his dad in a motorcyle accident yesterday. 9/21/2020. Mother was critically injured too. Will never forget him running up into the stands to hug his dad and mom when they won the state championship.

    Other than the amazing Milan upset, and the incredible Plymouth game with Scott Skiles, this would have to be the pinnacle of Indiana High School basketball, and HOOSIER HYSTERIA!! LEGENDARY!! I was there and I cried real tears when Damon went into the stands to hugs his folks. He was a true folk hero!! The story of the whole season is amazing!!

      IMO Basketball is now individually more about “feel” than “fundamentals”. I think you look at J Will and he’s not what you would consider having “fundamentals” like he doesn’t do two hand forward chest passes, he does a one hand pass or a behind the back pass, depending on what is needed to get the ball to where it needs to be. I think the the game is so much faster, and more athletic now, that players have just had to adapt to different unique approaches on basic principles of the game.
      If you’re talking “fundamentals” in the sense of how each team here plays more collectively then you see in college and especially pro “Athletic Club Men’s pick-up-game” style of ball, I 100% agree. I went to the Ark/Aub game a couple weeks back when Ark beat them, and even though they won, if you watch Ark they would never pass more than like 3 maybe 4 times in a possession. Obviously it worked, that and FT differential. It was pick and roll & ISO sets ALL NIGHT which has been the NBA blueprint since teams figured why not just put LeBron or a 3/4 guy at point guard every possession. Just strange

    it's amazing how much the game has changed since then. much more passes, dribbling was never flashy as no one ever tried an iso and threes looked like they weren't a thing to them.

      @rustyshepperd 6 лет назад +3

      While I agree about the format, let's not forget that this only happened because it was Damon and his senior year. They didn't sell out the dome the next year and it was Henderson against the Big Dog Glenn Robinson. Damon was the main reason so many were in attendance. Romeo could possibly do the same but other than that, it was pretty much a once in a lifetime situation.

      So, Concord and BNL are both 4A today. This game could still happen. It's not like the Milan game in 1954.
      It's not always about how many fans you can pack in. Domes suck for basketball. When I saw my Arsenal Tech Titans win the 4A title in 2014, I was up in the balcony at Bankers Life Field house, and I could still see fine. I don't think those fans in the nosebleeds at the Hoosier Dome could follow the game very well.

      Nah, just this game. In 1974 my dad took me to the largest classification state championship in Texas, where two Urban schools schools met up in a track meet of a game with many many dunks and a score of 91-87 with Houston Wheatly beating South Oak Cliff. It would rival any HS game you could see today in terms of athletes, skill and dunking ability.

      Stop the Blood Clot Cryin’
      In all seriousness ... I’m sure a case could be made for what you said , but only fans of that particular school are gonna have that perspective.
      I’m sure you watched the NBA , how much **** did Michael Jordan get away with & also get silver plattered by the refs? Countless amounts.
      How many seconds total of discussion does this garner in all of the combined Jordan & Bulls sports documentaries ever made?
      Zero.
      Just some old timers sitting at a bar in Detroit or Indianapolis occasionally bring it up, no one else pays it any mind whatsoever.
      It’s a 2 way street ... I’m a Broncos fan or instance. I can go to chiefsplanet.com and easily find a couple of people to enthusiastically bemoan that the 97 Broncos O-Line had something slick like Vaseline on their jerseys in the KC-DEN playoff game. According to them this should be reason for stripping the Broncos of that Lombardi trophy & I guess award it to the Chiefs instead.
      It’s just Homer talk. Bring up the Tuck Rule game to some Non Patriots fans .... it’s a part of the game.
