hi! i always watch your videos because i’m in college for sonography right now. i’m only a freshman, so i’m taking general ed classes. i’ve had my mind set on doing sonography for about 2-3 years now. your videos are really helpful and insightful! i talked to my advisor a couple of weeks ago, and she told me that based on my gpa and knowledge of the field i am a competitive candidate for the program. this was super reassuring to hear especially as a freshman. i won’t have an interview until summer of 2023 but i’m on track with all of the interview requirements. i can’t wait to start my journey as a sonographer. i love watching your videos ❤️

Hey Makala! Ah, that's so amazing!!! You're on the right track then! Take it one day at a time and get to know your advisor and sonography directors/ professors!! Make sure they know who you are ;) and I'm sure you will get in!!! I am thankful for you and hope to see you in more comment sections. Definitely rooting for you!!!

Yeah definitely something that most places even job interviews ask!!! We all have weaknesses. Just gotta be honest and make them a good thing or something you can learn and grow from. 🥰 Thanks for being here, Asmaa so happy to see you! ✨

When I was doing my interview for DMS, I recall there was another Asian prospective student and we were picked randomly and each asked random questions. The question he got was, "How do you deal with failure? Let's say you got a bad grade. How would you react and how would you move forward from there?" You know how we Asians have this reputation for doing very well in school? I feel like that was this guy, and his answer reflected this: "Hehe I would never fail an exam." He did not make it into the program.
My personal advice, if I may add, is to be realistic during these interviews, be positive, and be modest about the learning experience you're so eager to have in the near future.

    • @lolgeselle

I would ask them "what are the steps to take the ARDMS board exams, can I take physics SPI exam right after physics" you can also ask them "when can we do clinical or how do you choose clinical sites for students" just ask them some specific questions toward the program and your future !

Would using my preventative mastectomy as a way to stand out be bad? Like I don’t want their pity but it’s a part of what inspired me to go into this field. Being able to speak up when patients don’t feel heard.
I was young and felt a lump. My doctor wouldn’t listen to me so I got a second opinion, ultrasound found a tumor ( luckily benign) but at 23 I decided to have a mastectomy since I tested positive for BRCA1…. I don’t want to over share but if the story helps😅

Yes of course! Your personal story is personal to you, and that is definitely something they will remember you by. I would definitely apply to multiple programs if you have the chance to, just need to make sure your pre-reqs will transfer and count for the programs you apply for. It doesn’t hurt to apply to more than one but if you have your eyes set on one place just know if you don’t get in the first try when you apply the second time some will usually like to see that you’ve applied before. What it comes down to is how long are you willing to wait. I had friends who actually waited 2-3 years to get into our program. But really just depends on you! And the programs are possible to get into, just gotta show how much you want it and network where you can! 💕

Wait, I’m confused so is this to enter the sonography program or is this afterwards . I never heard of being interviewed to enter a college program

This is to apply into a sonography program. Some programs require an interview process in order to be considered into the program.

Job interviews definitely involve a lot of bullshitting and that’s probably why I’ve always dreaded them.
