Angelina has taken over the entire orchestra, strings and winds sections, cello, French horns, flute and more. She left only the rhythm section in the form of a piano. Epic!

I don’t know what it is about her voice. Just about any song she sings makes me cry a good cry. Not many things in life does me . My heart is somehow in line with tone of her voice. The sound of her voice is so soothing and hypnotic that my mind goes to places in my past. Some memories are sorrowful and painful and just by listening to her angelic voice some how makes everything better and replaces them with joy and happiness. Voices like this only come once in a life time. God Bless You Angelina Jordan! Thank you for precious gift you have given the world with your songs.

Angelina is, and always has been, a musical genius! Her tone is incredible… I have to listen to her at least once a day. She could sing the dictionary and make it sound good. Even when she was just a toddler, she was well beyond her years. I think you’re right… she is a gift to the world.
I think that Angelina's comfort on stage other than pure talent and preparation is what she has said about wanting to spread love through her music throughout the world.This would also help explain the extreme impact that she has on listeners emotions.

Thank you for finally doing this reaction. Her voice is so smokey, silky, and smooth. I love how she chose a yellow outfit to go with the name of the song.
There aren't any musicians alive that compare with her ability to interpret a song, So many of the covers she has done are better than the original. Just about every reaction to her work involves goosebumps and tears.
Then you are turning a blind eye to the women of metal, particularly symphonic metal.
They can sing this style just as well and quite possibly better. They choose not to sing covers 99% of the time. What they do sing most others simply will not even attempt. Growels to Opera and everything in between.
Take Floor's performances on Beste Zangers last fall. Always singing out of her genre and in 4 different languages.

Very good reaction! Today she is 14 years old and has over 120 covers and 3 originals on RUclips. She has already managed to collaborate with the biggest in the music industry, and is considered to be a future megartist.The family and herself want to take it easy in the musical development because of her young age.

I have no words with which to accurately articulate my feelings about Angelina the artist and, more importantly, about Angelina the person. I believe only one perfect person has ever walked the earth but God came awfully close to a second one in Angelina. I adore her. She has a truly beautiful and ancient soul.

Thanks Christi for such an insightful analysis of Angelina's performance. You pointed out almost all of her qualities as a singer and a performer. One thing that most reactors don't mention is how relaxed she is throughout the song. And that's because she's been singing in public since she was 7 years old! This is her element and where she can display all her amazing talents, just by standing there and singing. Also, another thing to mention is that both her competition songs were sung almost acapella!
Hope you continue to react to Angelina. There are many incredible videos of her performing both live, sitting in ther living room or a chair accompanied just by a guitar!

There are quite a few Angelina performances I would love to see you react to. If I may ask for/suggest one reaction of yours, I will point out her performance of "A Song For A". This is a song, composed by Nico Cartosio (russian composer), who asked Angelina to sing it for his latest album "Melting", from 2019. The YT video contains the Audio from the record, as Angelina sing it. So far this song is a "one of a kind" in Angelinas playlist, and I find it so beutyful and well performed. I`m shure you have listened to some of Angelinas videos, and maybe even this one. I am eager to her your thougts about many of her perfomances, and this one in particular. Thanks again. BTW it`s a lovely smile that Angelina puts to your face. :-D
I like that she is never in a hurry. She is in control at all times. A lot of young singers can learn this lesson, don't be in a hurry, feel the song moving through you. To be a great singer it seems from all the comments from coaches you have to believe what your singing. 'Cause if you don't believe it, how are we going to believe it?
I'm sorry I'm having one of my severe ADHD days. I kind of thought these would go away as you got older, but I'm 68 and it seems to be getting worse. So if you'll excuse me, i have some walls that I need to bounce off of.
My favorite performances by Angelina are all live versions. Some recorded on cell phones. Seems like she ups her game when she's got a live audience.

as always, you hit the bail on the head ……… Angelina sings because she can and she loves what she sings - each performance is a masterpiece. For me anyway, she is a born performer and though they sing somewhat different genres she reminds me of the fabulous Lara Fabian …………. they both bring us into what the message of the song is with subtle and masterful techniques both vocally and visually. You look stunning and I hope for the safety of you and yours.
Yes, Lara has this ability to connect uniquely with the listener. She is always "in" the performance, not just making the sounds correctly. Angelina definitely has it. But, it's so rare. I think Morissette Amon is another who is able to do that. All three are unique in their own way. Until Angelina came along, Lara and Mori kept taking turns as my number one favorite. Now, it's only Angelina in the #1 spot. I still love Lara and Mori, and listen to them often. But, #1 is solidly taken by AJ.
Very nice reaction and deconstruction. I'm trying to think of adjectives that describe Angelina's voice: toffee comes to mind. Smooth, velvety, cozy, listening to Angelina is like a day at the spa for the mind. Thank you!

Christi, a superb reaction from you as usual. It is so nice to hear a professional singer and vocal coach give a thoughtful analysis of Angelina's performances. Your insight is valuable for everyone, from us professional musicians to those who have no musical background, but appreciate good music. One point I would like to make: From the 1960’s until the early 2000’s and, for some of us still yet today, Barbra Streisand was a performer who had a presence in almost everybody’s mind. Throughout her career, she could be found on recordings, on Broadway, in movies, on television and in concert venues throughout the world. She could do it all - show tunes, pop, jazz, everything. She wrote memorable songs and still produces her own recordings as well as those of others. I believe Angelina Jordan has the potential to become the Barbra Streisand of the 21st century, not because their voices are similar - they each have their own distinctive style - but because, like Barbra, Angelina is a force of nature. She sings in any genre imaginable, has made already-classic recordings, gives magical concert performances, has written original songs, has a movie-like presence on videos and has been seen on television and RUclips all over the world. With her intelligence, maturity and the guidance she receives from her family, there is nothing stopping Angelina from becoming a superstar!
All she needs is a great "Break Out"song to catch the public's eye more here in the USA where people are so picky. In Europe, she is already a major player just singing her cover songs at outdoor concerts. They adore her because she is so humble, and down to earth.
Love your reactions. Angelina was once asked what happened when she sung and she explained that she went to a completely different place. When asked what it was like and she said it was a beautiful p,ace full of light. Infinite. I’m paraphrasing but I’ve tried to find the interview but, have so far not succeeded. You may come across it as you go through her catalogue. This is why she is so relaxed because she is hardly present in the body. You can see this in the way she changes at the end of the song. She is lost in the song then, at the end she gives a little wave, just like the child she is. She is incomparable!

Your priceless analysis is thorough and so precise concerning Angelina s vocal abilities, her poise, her confidence and assurance, and her fearless prowesses.
I would add that one of the highlights of Angelina s performance at the AGT is when, at 3:43, singing the words back to the howling old owl in the woods, she, first, at 3:52, mimicks the sound the owl makes, and, at 3:54, she pronounces so slightly the word owl. That is a vocal prowess that she uses at times to let us know somethig.
To me, as she demonstrates it again and again, that something is this: i am more than a talented young singer, i am a vocal artist.
That is what i mean when i say that Angelina is singing with an attitude.

You always say so much that I never know where to start to respond to all of it. So I will just say... you really seem to get Angelina. You point out a lot of the things that make her special. She is an effortless singer. She does so much without ever seeming like she is trying to impress. Her riffs and runs are controlled and natural, never overdone. Her musical choices are unique. She is one of a kind. Also, I've done the math... If Sara's version was the best cover Elton had ever heard, and this version is better than Sara's... Then I think it's safe to say this is now the best cover of the song ;) The only thing holding this one back is that it's too short. When the only thing wrong with a performance is that it is not long enough, then that's the sign of a great performance.
...and I feel that way about all of her performances...I wish they'd just keep going on and on...8-))

Great observations Rusty. I think Elton "used" this song as a pop money maker. Sarah discovered in it the soul of a roughly used musician under a hard contract. Angelina found the soft soul of all of us in it, trapped in lives much smaller than we had imagined.

When you watch Angelina she is constantly moving her head up, down, left, right, and all kinds of odd angles as she clearly changes the shape of her throat and mouth to alter the tone and timbre of her voice. It's nothing that has ever been taught. You can't possibly teach stuff like that to a kid. It's just all coming from her. She just constantly experimented on her own from a ridiculously young age. Really like your review and reflections. It's not easy to transform the impression Angelina's beautiful voice and her artistic renditions makes in ones soul in to simple words and coherent sentenses, but you did marvelous.
Thanks for another great reaction to Angelina. After I heard this on AGT-C, I went straight to Sara's version to compare them. Angelina obviously used Sara's version as a start, but she definitely changed a number of things to make it her own. The main difference IMO, is the quality of the voice. I love Sara's performance & I would give her a standing ovation, but Angelina's performance was beyond amazing & a vocal masterpiece. I would love to hear what Elton John thinks about this performance. I haven't heard him comment about Angelina at all.
I'm so surprised that I couldn't find Angelina's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' from AGT on your playlist. What a moving performance. If you haven't seen it, please do. You will not be disappointed. One her best, along with her covers of Lana Del Rey's 'Born to Die', Adele's 'A Million Years Ago', Aretha's 'Natural Woman', Sinatra's 'Fly Me To The Moon'(Acoustic video or full orchestral rehearsal version for Quincy Jones' 80th Birthday Bash) or Amy Winehouse's 'Back to Black'(w/Angelina's age appropriate lyrics), etc., etc., etc. Love your positive outlook and analysis. After I heard you suggest that Angelina was singing Sara Bareilles version of ‘Beyond a Yellow Brick Road’, I went online and listened to a couple recordings of Sara. What I heard was a vocalist singing words and notes, compared to when I hear Angelina singing feelings. Again, listening to another singer sing a song that Angelina covered brought me to tears from not hearing Angelina’s vocals.

You have such very good insight I have watched Angelina from her start and yet you have brought out things no one has thanks.
Excellent reaction and analysis. Thank you. The question which exercises my mind is. Are you only interested in Angelina's career going forward or are you prepared to step backward in time and review the performances which show her progression from a 7 year old in her first audition on Norway's Got Talent - or even a couple of years earlier for her early visits to a recording studio. Believe me that journey is well worth taking, for even on her first public appearance she had a presence and voice which demanded attention and captivated all the people listening to her.

They say the song is not a competition type of song that adds factor why she did not win the whole AGT. I think they are correct and wrong at the same time. Correct and I agree that it's not a competition type of song. Wrong because these so-called superfans who voted for the winner is obviously not up to the task of knowing what Angelina just did there. They are all bunch of clueless individuals of knowing what real talents are. What Angelina did here is so beyond her years and could easily eclipse any performances of any of the top mainstream singers we have today. ☺️But that's well behind now. I guess her not winning there is a blessing in disguise.
The reason she could not win. Her parents have decided that she can't sign a music deal until she is out of school. The show demanded a contract. She refused.
She didnt win because she didnt sign AGT contract. They weren't going to let her win if they couldnt have full control over her music. Also she didnt need AGT. Shes already a mega in the world & have a million fans. She just wanted her voice out in America
The show is prearranged as far as who wins. No one was as good as her. Not one performer could hold her sheet music for her. She was the best. Second place was not even close but some how she lost. Something is fishy. Past performer like Charlotte Summers, Carly Rose Sonenclar (spelling?) all lost when not one other performer was even close to their level of talent. Yeah it's fixed. Don't you think? Look back to each case and see who the winner was. I think you can figure it out from there.

The most important thing AGT can do to save their bacon is to publicly dispose of their super stupor judges. It's been months since the shameful way Angelina was dismissed and I remain very pissed.

Any vocalist can sing the notes, but can't make the music sing. Angelina is a superb song interpreter. She finds the core emotional quality of the melody and lyric and enchants the listener. Beyond all of the techniques she displays is the FEELING of the song she conveys. She elicits chills, goosebumps and tears, simply seducing the audience with her charisma. A unique talent that can only improve with age.

Angelina's yellow outfit sure comes from the 80's and 90's fashion. I know because that's pretty much how my ex-girlfriend dressed up at that time. Oh the memories.
Admittedly nobody likes stopping a performance but knowing this is a reality for YT and avoiding copyright strikes please try and be more strategic with your stops. Don't stop right in the middle of a run and if you do inadvertently, roll the video back a few seconds when you restart so the viewers (as well as your self) don't lose the musicality of the artists intention.
Thanks for such an insightful reaction,very interesting.Perhaps if you wouldn't mind you could comment,in a future reaction on her great breath control,I never see her out of breath or out of synch,even in the most stressful of settings live.Young vocalists especially seem very prone to this.

Many vocal coaches are unable to explain her abilities. I think she summed it all up in her AGT pre show interview where she said when she sings she goes into a different world that is endless.. I dont think the interviewer understood that. If you put her on mute and just watch her when she sings you still know music is her world, even when she was a tiny girl her hand movements were singing spot on. She just felt it. I have seen people crediting it all to coaching. I cant believe at 7-8 years old anyone can learn to sing with that emotion or even just the timing. Ok, I will stop rambling :)

I never worry about what AGT (or anyone)does. Even if agt dropped a pile of crap on her votes, the power of an angel is pure. Angelina would walk around it and stop turn around with a smile and say "thank you for letting me sing"

Hello - I think Angelina Jordan is like Mozart. She does not play, does not try to make effects and to appear. She sings like Mozart is music. Its vocal qualities are innate and will naturally refine as it grows. I think that all voice experts are mistaken on a major point. This girl does not sing in control. She is letting go, she lets herself be guided by this gift that inhabits her. She has little ego and she gives herself entirely when she sings, with ease and without trying to make the show. This young girl is a gift for humanity, with a pure and rare, authentic and unvarnished voice that is magic for our ears and transports our souls
I agree with you that Angelina Jordan is a natural. She is born with a gift of understanding music. What these coaches are commenting on is Angelina's mastery of technical skills for singing. Instead of learning the skills, they come naturally to her, it is second nature. Angelina may not be able to play musical instruments but she has the natural feel for arrangement. All of us have a gift. Angelina just discovered hers much earlier than most of us. And we are all better because of it.

I think that so many people have the feeling that Angelina Jordans voice is so emotional epressiv, because she sings with such low tension. Tension blocks the fine structure ot emotion.
Very good stuff. This must be the best editing and presentation of the analyzes from any reactor I have seen. You have obviously put some effort into that. If I say more about that you maybe will be to happy.... At least I am happy with that you use the same allegory as I have used - for a long time - to describe Angelina's way of using her voice namely that she is painting with it .... and it is masterpieces. You should add in that English is not her mother language ( I believe it is called in English ).
I think that the age thing with Angelina should be removed from the equation. Regardless of age she is the best. Simple as that......yepp.....

Well done in analysing. She loves a sad song, and lends her voice in every second song to a dramatic type of sadness. Never over dramaticing it. Comparing all 86 songs, she officially recorded. I just hope she is not climaxing out, like many others of this typ of prodigy children (Bianca Ryan, Carly Rose, etc.)

As you may or may not know the artist's have to sign a contract with AGT if they win or place(not sure exactly) , but her manager forced them to sign a contract so she did not have to sign with them or she would not compete , so if she won they would not make any money from her. because she was the winner.
