Being a longtime cat person you get to understand that a cat's going to cat and seeing that one in the basket on your table was just pure joy to me. If people don't want cats on their Furniture than don't have them cuz they're going to get there no matter what you do. Thank you for all of the work that you go through to make these videos for us. Stay safe, be well, love from Texas.

I believe the same, the only place I don’t let my cats is on my kitchen bench because that’s where I prepare food but everywhere else it’s fine, my male was sleeping in a basket on our dining table for the last two weeks hahaha

I love our cat and our past cats but we have always trained them to stay off of kitchen counters and out of Christmas trees. That said, it is a matter of personal preference not a judgement; just saying it can be done. They are wonderful animals.

I have used my cast iron frying pans for a few years now on a flat top. I’ve had no problems with them at all. I don’t care what you do, it will scratch. I think a flat top is just hard to keep clean. Mine still looks good but I’m very particular and I keep after it. I don’t like a flat top at all but seems about all you can get these days. You’re doing a great job adjusting 😉

Same here Vicki, I’ve used mine for years with no problems. The scratches will come no matter what you use for pans, and I will not give up my cast iron. I use Norwex paste to clean, and actually spray the top lightly with stainless steel cleaner spray to make the top surface all shiny and hide the scratches.

I've used my cast iron pans on a flat top stove for over 20 years with no problem. I don't have any problem keeping it clean. Just scrape debris with a razor blade and use the flat top stove cleaner after that. I think it is easier than dealing with the scraps under the burners of gas or old fashioned coil burners.

Jess, I have an electric glass top ( flat ) range, and have been using cast iron for the past 12 years, and no problem so far..
Make sure you turn off stove before you’re done cooking as the flat top retains heat long after its shuts off…
About your kitchen faucets, try buying Moen if you can as they have lifetime warranty.. I had mine replaced once, just write down the model #, or keep the box, which I do as I have a large basement for such things.

Hurricane/tropical storm advice from a South Carolinian here!
Im a transplant native. I moved to SC when I was 5, and 26 years later, I can tell you that all these hurricanes we get threatened with will 99 percent of the time end up being just a bunch of windy storms OR at worst a category 2 and those really never are strong enough for you to have to leave. I live in the lowcountry so I’m 1 hour from the coast. I’ve never had to evacuate and have just hunkered down. Our rule is “if it’s a predicted 3 and not showing signs of changing as time gets closer, we’ll evacuate, but again hasn’t happened my whole life living here. Hopefully they always stay that way and we continue with that blessing every year. Around here we call them “hurrications”. Little unexpected spurts of spontaneous days off work lol.

You can take a small saw rated for metal and saw off the back end of the threads on those knobs to make them shorter. A lot of companies make them long on purpose and expect you to do that so that they can fit a lot of different wood thicknesses.

2 easy solutions for your cabinet hardware. Install the knobs with shorter screws or put nuts on the screws that are too long. Run the screws in all the way. Tighten the nuts. Take a pair of vice grips and clamp on the screw. Then move the vice grips back and forth until the screw breaks off. There you go! Good to have y'all in the neighborhood.

I feel your pain about your kids being at school when you’re having a tornado warning. I felt that way on 9/11 when it seemed we were under attack but didn’t know the scope of the situation. I’m praying for peace of spirit tonight going forward.

Jess, I moved from Illinois to Ohio three years ago. We moved to be near my daughter, son in law, and two granddaughters. Other than them, I knew nobody. I left behind my seven siblings, my church, and my best friend in the world. It was a very trying adjustment. Don’t be hard on yourself. There’ll be rough days, but with time, you’ll feel “home”. Love you. Love your videos. You’re in my prayers. (My garden saved my sanity! We moved in the month of May, and I put in a garden immediately!)

Permaculture enthusiasts teach waiting a full year before doing anything on a new piece of property. It gives you a chance to see how the land behaves during all the seasons. Sunlight, shade, temperature averages as well as extremes, rainfall, drainage concerns, wind, existing flora and fauna. Just observe and take notes so you don’t regret placing a shed in an area that experiences flash flooding, for example. Fred is a teacher.

Always watch the skies, watch your animals, watch nature, etc. You may lo want to invest in a reliable weather band radio, a hand-crank that has a flashlight on it. ❤️🍅🍆🌱🙏💕

Thanks for still shooting videos amidst your chaos! Tip: Just use a stand alone propane burner for your pressure canning. Way easier. Glass stove tops take a longer time getting your canner to pressure, and they cannot handle the extended heat for canners.... ESPECIALLY more than one at a time 😅
For a future vlog possibly?! It would be really awesome to see how are you do your drip lines for your garden beds around your house, if that’s possible!

ATV is what we use when going far away from the house on our property. Took us awhile to realize that it was further than we thought. Also, now that you see where the water collects you could have someone do some grading to move water away from where you don't want it. Your little shed comes to mind.
