- Grim Guardians Demon Purge is a Castlevania inspired spin-off of Gal Gun but can this do enough to attract both audiences? Let's find out!
When a demon's castle darkens the land, two sisters challenge its halls. Together they can break the curse.
In order to save their school after it turns into a massive demonic castle, two "Demon Hunter" sisters slash and shoot their way through this 2D action adventure.
Players can swap between control of both characters on the fly, each with entirely different skillsets. Proceed through the castle while confronting the demonic bosses that await deep within.
Each boss yields new weapons to wield, allowing for more varied exploration and opening up new routes.
■Swap out on the fly as you traverse through the demonic castle!
Take control of both the tag-team Kamizono siblings. Make the most of long-distance focused Shinobu and close-range brawler Maya Kamizono as you make your way through the castle.
Each sibling has a range of unique sub-weapons, giving you a wealth of options to switch your strategy up whenever the time calls for it. Don’t hesitate to make use of them so long as you have Weapon Points in stock!
In the event that one of the siblings falls in battle, they can be resuscitated freely with "Sister Rescue"-provided you can make it back to where they fell.
■Defeat bosses to obtain new sub-weapons, opening up a whole new layer of exploration!
Defeating bosses will yield new sub-weapons, providing the siblings with exciting new abilities.
These sub-weapons also open up new routes and means of exploration in the castles.
■Enjoy the story your way with "Pure" or "Refined" voice tracks!
Grim Guardians' story focuses on two main aspects: the mystery behind the school's transformation, and the whereabouts of the other students.
Enjoy the original experience in "Pure" mode with all of the original Japanese voices for story mode, or choose “Refined” for English voice acting focused on the action, tailored for fans of the genre.
■Adjust the difficulty to your playing needs with the unique Style system!
A total of 3 different styles-"Casual", "Veteran" and "Legend"-are available for selection, allowing players to adjust the difficulty to their needs. This can be changed at any time after beginning the game with no drawbacks.
What's more, co-op with both Shinobu and Maya will be possible should two controllers be available. It's possible to jump-in at any time during the game, so don't hesitate to invite friends along on your journey to conquer this mysterious demonic castle.

I stayed up til midnight to start playing this minute one and I’m finally going to bed (it’s 3:30am!) - so much fun and I loved the Symphony of the Night stylings.
Can not wait to play this. Got the collectors edition coming and the digital version downloaded ready to go.
Some lovely little details go a long way... those reflections in the floor tiles for example
Good stuff!
Thanks for the video.. I put in my pre-order for a physical copy few weeks back.
Hm. Looks like i'll be adding this into my wishlist later. Thanks for the review!
A fairly positive review. I'd consider picking this up after your review. Cheers Alex.
Looks right up my alley, but will wait for a 50% discount.
Games are either day one buys or wishlisted til they hit 50% off, there is no inbetween
@@johnnytrash2839 You are a wise man! My sediments exactly☝️
This looks great! Your a legend Alex
I love Metroidvanias however I am not a big Castlevania fan...I know, I'm a little confused. The boss designs look great but the highlight for me was the origami platforms. I can see myself really enjoying this game. To the WishList it goes.
I have been waiting for this game!! I am so excited. I am waiting for a physical copy though, so I haven't played it yet. Having a difficult time not just buying a digital now, then physical later.
Thank you for the video!
I did that. Bought the collectors edition and the digital. It comes out tomorrow for me. Not sure where your at. The collectors edition sold out unfortunately. Limited Run Games usually handles Inticreates north American releases and i bet they'll have a collectors edition as well.
Got this pre ordered and loved the pc demo. Can’t wait!
I knew I was buying this day 1. I actually lost track of the release date but thanks on the video and reminding me. Only buy games twice a year, so this is on the back burner until that time comes around.
This seems decent enough. If I see this on a 70% off I'll grab it. Thanks for the review!
Added to the wish list.
It's an Inti game. For me, they are almost always a no-brainer purchase these days. I know I'm going to enjoy them. And this one is like the... SNES version of Curse of the Moon... with the Gal*Gun characters. Interesting choice. Would not have minded an actual SNES-style CotM. Still, a solid game.
Together with PLAYISM's metroidvania games (Touhou Luna Nights and Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth), my go to when I just gotta scratch that 2D exploration off my system.
At least, while I wait for Inti to give us the next Gunvolt game. Main series or otherwise (I so want that Mytyl spin-off, I laughed so hard at that "joke" ending).
Thanks for the review Alex! I'm not that familiar with GalGun. However I am a fan of Inti Creates games. Still, from your critique, I feel like "Yeah, I might pick this one up."
I like the art style but I will wait for it to go on sale
Thanks Alex. This game is currently on sale so going to pick it up. Its not great but on sale, I think its worth it.
thx for the review.. how long to beat story
This looks so good, can’t wait to get my copy. But is it a metroidvania? It’s linear, isn’t it?
It's... Kinda both? It is linear and level based, but as you get more sub weapons you can go back to previous levels and explore and get permanent power ups.
I'd compare it to the Megaman X or Megaman Zero series. Using gear or weapons you acquire through your playthrough to go back to levels and get more gear and abilities.
Loving this game!
I splurged on elderand to satisfy a sudden metroidvania craving. This does look pretty good though. Going to keep an eye for a better discount
I've been enjoying Elderand. Pretty fun game. Combat feels good. I love Inticreates though. Got the collectors edition for this plus the digital.
Can I ask why I not found this game even I search the game on Nintendo
it's not the accent but the newscaster intonation that I find quite odd
This looks pretty tits to me even if it's not in the running for any awards for originality. It looks likely to scratch that "slightly modernized Symphony of the Night clone" itch that Record of Lodoss War did last year. Kinda bummed to hear that there are levels as opposed to one sprawling interconnected map, but it doesn't sound like a deal breaker for me.
Thank you for reviewing this one! I've had it on my wishlist for a couple of months now, anticipating its release ever since I randomly encountered a gameplay trailer on RUclips.
Its not a SoTN clone, its a classicvania one
I heard they had to Change the name of this to Gal Guardians because of some other Game.
Honestly I love the galgun games and these characters. If this was a full metroidvania game I would have bought it day one but unfortunately like with Koumajou remila scarlet symphony this game isn't worth the high base price.
i got these today and the trophes wood not sink in iwos slaytly desapointed game runs well and plays rely good no gliches apart from the trophes not sinking they pop i can sss them but on my acount nothing no trophe icon for the game nothing
More for my backlog! Oh No!
Man I wish I’d watched before buying. Inti creates have disappointed me a lot lately and this is true here. Many were calling it a metroidvania but it is not. It is more updated castlevania original play style. Thanks for the review.
Info: The name of the game has since been changed to Gal Guardians Demon Purge.
Is this not available in the US?
They just renamed it to Gal Guardians!
@SwitchCorner ahh gotcha. Thanks
@@SwitchCorner still couldn't find it in the eshop
Why should it "overcome" it's origins?
Why am I not finding this on Switch?
From what i learnt, it got removed for being too inappropriate with it’s lewd art. There’s more info about it from this vid
ruclips.net/video/uZrl06KneJs/видео.html
@@ghostknight4147 Was nothing to do with lewd art, just a rebranding to change it from Grim Guardians to Gal Guardians, there's nothing lewd in it
Bosses are higlight. Too bad they are no challenge. XD you just grind them until they die.
I did not even know it was a metroidvania, i wanted a platform shot em up, shocking how surprised i was.
Games of this cabala Defo need different difficulties. I recall getting Castlevania Dracula X for the Vita and it was difficult as hell that I couldn’t get past the first level. Annoying too was having two other castlevania locked in the game that I could even play them
Its not a metroidvania
