- The Tentbox Cargo. Is this the best roof tent on the market? I think it is. The Tentbox Cargo is a real work horse of a roof tent.
It's durable, waterproof and the great thing with the design is you can attach loads of ancillary equipment to it, like the roof rack and the tentbox awning.
There's not much prep that needs to be done before installing it but take a look at the installation video prior to installing it on your car.

Great review, looks good!
Brilliant review getting mine next week so this review will help a lot well done 🤘
Thanks. Just about to publish a video on the gear and solar charger. Don’t forget to join the Facebook group Tentbox cargo owners.
@@Vildmark I’m looking forward to that video as I was going to ask about that!! I’ve joined the tent cargo owners club thanks for that buddy ✌🏻
This isn't a review,a review is showing how they perform in the tent killer,,,,The Wind,,,,but that's never shown.
Thanks for this.🧐👍🏻
No worries. Any questions please let me know. Video of the awning room coming out in a week or so
@@Vildmark thanks will look out for it.👍
Great video. A couple of questions, I'm 6ft 4 would i be comfortable inside it when laying down to sleep or should i go for a bigger type of tent? Also what weight can those added roof bars to the tent carry. I've got a 21kg kayak. Thanks
Size wise you’ll be fine and the roof bars can carry 50kg when open and 100kg when closed. Just make sure you roofbars can carry the weight of the cargo and your load.
@@Vildmark great thanks. My bars are vanguard heavy duty ladder carrying bars so it should all be good. I'll double check though. I'm torn between this and the tent box lite XL tbh. Decision time.
@danielwoolcock7267 the cargo is a lot quicker to put up and down. I spent a lot of time researching and after seeing the Xl I’m glad I went for the cargo.
I’ve a £50 discount code you can use if you like. It’s the name of the channel without the .co.uk (no capital)
Mark. Cargo vs Classic? I’m not interested at present about extra cargo but the aluminium seems like a better choice for me. Also, the C channels are a bonus as I’d love the awning as well? What’s your feeling?
The Classic to me seems more like a coffin and it’s 4 straight sides that can be hit by the wind. At least with the cargo you can point it into the wind to deflect some.
The c channels are great to add things on to as is the roof rack like recovery boards, shovel etc.
It’s solid and I find it really comfy.
Don’t forget my £50 discount code it’s in the video.
I’ve written a little more about the cargo on this post on the website: vildmark.co.uk/equipment/reviews/a-year-with-the-tentbox-cargo-roof-tent/
Have you any ideas on securing it better ie anti theft ideas! Stopping it from being pinch and also insurance ideas company’s etc cheers
Hi Chris. I did film my security ideas but thought twice about showing it, in case anyone locally saw it.
If you contact me via instagram or Facebook I’ll let you know what I do
@@Vildmark what’s your full name?
Martin Grove. I’m in the Tentbox cargo group
How tall is the ladder that it comes with?
Can’t give you an exact measurement but they are about 2.5m I would say. I’ll get back to you with exact measurement
Would definitely NOT recommend fitting such a big heavy tent on such narrowly spaced cross bars. ESPECIALLY since they're only clamped onto the roof rails, not solidly fixed.
Talking about adding a bike or canoe on top of this already ridiculous setup is madness.
All within spec of the roof rails, roof bars and checked by Tentbox but thanks for your concern.
