I absolutely love this take on what Dipper went through after the summer ended. I feel like people forget that he was only 12 being tormented by Bill. After going through everything that he did, there is no way he didn’t have some sort of PTSD later in life. It is also very fitting that Gravity Falls is the only place Dipper feels truly at home. Imagine having to go back to normal life after the summer he had and how re adjusting would be near impossible. I like to think Dipper and Mabel both moved to Gravity Falls once they turned 18.
He'd have PTSD, unless we try to think of his whole adventure with Bill as some elaborate metaphor that I'm not smart enough to figure out. If I went through that while I was 12, I'd think everything is the supernatural.

I mean I'm not sure but I think knowing that it was all contained in a certain area would help him with sorting out supernatural creatures in his every day life. Clearly there would PTSD, but he could definitely find a way to manage it by reminding himself Weirdmageddon is over with and even if it wasn't, he is safe away from Gravity Falls.

My personal theory is we're not getting gravity falls back, but Bill Chiper's threats aren't empty. It's confirmed he will come back. "A different form, a different time." In a different show that the Director of gravity Falls will be working on, we will see another character not at first recognizable as Bill Cipher, but later it will be revealed his past gravity falls.
It hurts worse when ya think about how many kids have to Highschool soon when they were watching this amazingly comforting show, but it even knows that we all gotta grow up sometime even if we really just don't want to. ....Including me...

Yea,,,, I just finished rewatching for the third time I was too little to watch it when it came out because I was scared but I’m glad I did watch it later in life because I watched some when it came out I knew I’d like it and now I really realize how amazing it is it’s emotional and it’s characters feel like real people with real problems like how Pacifica isn’t just that spoiled brat that you know is in every show she is but just cause her parents make her she would be nice if she could and Mabel isn’t just the crazy sibling she has other emotions like when she went into a depressive episode when she got waddles taken from her and how she got rly upset when she realized that high school wasn’t like tv (my personal head head cannon is that she has some form of Nurodivergency) and even went as far as to try and stop time just to keep her summer and not have to grow up the character development is massive and even some side characters get some hecc soos has more backstory and character development than some main characters in shows Wow I went on a rant oof
I don’t think some people understand how emotional shows like this can be. A show we’ve grown up watching and when the show ends you realize there’s more to life then having fun and worrying about all these little things but that eventually the places we knew when we were younger just become a memory that we’ll eventually forget

I remember being on the last episode, not knowing it was the last episode and when i checked to see what episode it was, it said season 2 episode 20. The smile on my face instantly turned into a frown. I was so eager on continuing but there were only 2 seasons. I cried during the ending scene and said, "Ive never been this sad because a cartoon ended". All the characters are amazing, i love the personalities and most of the fandom is holding up pretty strong even though it ended 7 years ago. I really hope we get some continuation on GF, i need to see bill get brought back (atleast i hope, that dorito is a menace to the universe but is just so cool smh) and i really wanna see dipper and mable when their older, if that happens. Anyways, i love GF sm, i wish it comes back!
Although I love this show with dear heart and think this universe's easily expandable, it's not needed. Just like with my other 3 favorite shows: Cowboy Bebop, Avatar, the last airbender, and Over the Garden Wall this show is short and leaves the rest to your imagination. Stories in these three are finished and feel very fulfilling. The story authors wanted to tell is complete and if you try to add something it will only ruin it. Every time a show was expanded in some sort after the initial ending, it was always worse and lower in quality. If you look at shows I mentioned, Korra was very plain and flawed continuation of the original plot and the movie is considered to be among some of the worst cinematic disasters. I never watched Netflix adaptation of cowboy bebop buy just from the reviews and the trailer. I can tell this show is wack. I like Gravity Falls just as it is, plus it's very rewatchbale as you catch new details every time.

Yeah disneys down for more Dipper and Mabel story’s apparently Alex Hirsh said but apparently because Disney didn’t want a spinoff with Stan and Ford I think Alex decided to start fresh with Netflix. He said he’s making a tv show there and he said it gives off gravity falls vibes. Before he said he wouldn’t mind doing more Dipper and Mabel stories but I’m sure he wants to be known for more since he gets flooded with questions about “where’s season 3? Are you making another season for Gravity Falls” Honestly as much as I would love for another season I don’t think we will maybe another comic book hopefully apparently we were supposed to have Blendins time journal but it never released. Also Disney was supposed to JUST give the “ok” for Alex Hirsh’ Gravity Falls book that he planned with a publishing company that was I think he said supposed to give more information than with what Disney made and they even put in a screenshot with the book that Alex hates. Plus with disneys homophobia his partner Dana Terrace had her show cancelled for it and in Gravity Falls the deputies were supposed to get together (they kinda did but more affection towards each other would have been amazing) and Love God matched two dudes together in the storyboard.

Am I the only one that would want a continuation of the series but them in high school. Stanley and Stanford come back from sailing, Wendy graduates and bill returns, or some new mystery 😭✋ I can only dream
That honestly would be such an amazing thing to watch. I don't think bill would even have to come back for the show to be interesting but instead it could be focused on dipper and everyone else trying to overcome the trauma of those events and live normal, happy lives once again.
I feel like there is a high possibility Bill could still be alive, especially since Stanley's memories weren't completely wiped, and were able to be restored
i feel like mabel is seen to not really care about things, but i can relate to her more than any other character on the show. She probably has some PTSD from weirdmagedon too, and on top of that huge amounts of shame. Her mental response to that is to be happy all the time, i feel like shes so stuck in this world where her joy is her only personality trait and if she were to show different emotions she would loose friends. Not like she isnt happy sometimes or even most of the time. And add that to being second best to dipper in litrally everything and now that he isnt able to hide his ptsd and depression well she has become his protector too

Gravity falls is one of those shows that hits hard and effected everyone who watched it yet... We all dream of a world where the weird and wonderful go to hangout... This is why gravity falls will forever be our escape from both fantasy and reality... I and everyone else hope that we can one day look back at cartoons and point this one out... In a way, I appreciate how it didn't stretch its length for too long. Alex knew exactly when the show would end and in what way. He acknowledged the conditions of concluding the show and ended it in one of the greatest finales I have ever seen. I'm glad they didn't want to milk production too much and we can all agree that the show basically just wanted to tell a story. THIS is why I think Gravity Falls is a masterpiece and should be celebrated.
I am def not the target demographic for shows like gravity falls and star vs the forces of evil because I was just a baby when the shows were released but I just can’t let go the shows. If the ever get taken off Disney, I don’t think I will watch any Disney movie again. This show is, and will always be my comfort show. Thank you for your time.
This here is a masterpiece. It perfectly traps the nostalgia of gravity falls we all knew back in 2012. Gosh has it really been over 10 years since that next summer that never came? I love how in the background it counted up to 2020. Also the mental breakdowns dipper is having due to his PTSD with bill. Mable always standing up for him as usual and seeing all the characters a little older is great too. The music itself is sad, yet happy. It not only speaks about dipper feeling like gravity falls is his true home, but all of us who grew up with the show. What id give to go back there and have a new mystery to solve. That next summer note hurt to see cause that's what we all have been waiting for...a next summer. I think I can say on the behalf of everyone that yes, we know there will never be a 3rd season, but every year we get that stupid theory that makes completely 0 sense and have a twitch of hope. Although we all know it'll never come, we want it so so badly.
Lmao I first watched it when I was younger than Dipper and Mabel, and now I'm introducing my 7 year old brother to it and I'm the about same age as Wendy and Robbie :') it's bittersweet rewatching it for the first time with him, it unloads so many memories and I hope it's creating some good ones for him.
That's how you know a show is something truly special. When people still love it years after it's debut, and finale. Gravity Falls will go down in history with shows like Batman: The Animated Series, Avatar the Last Airbender, Adventure Time, and more.
I like to think every summer Dipper, Mabel come back to Gravity Falls, and Grunkle Stan and Grunkle Ford take a break from their adventures to have a happy reunion. I love this show :)

Every so often, I return to this video. Whether it be in tears wishing for comfort, or longing for some form of emotion to trigger inside of me. This video makes me sad in such a welcomed way, the feeling of nostalgia trickling down my back with the words of the song I know so well and the faces of characters I grew up with.

There's something about the animation style that is just relaxing and humbling. It makes the characters seem much more mature and handsome while also reminding us of the good old days. Not to mention the song fits better than perfectly.

What I got from this is that he had a hard time letting go, eventually they had transportation there and back, that or they started school in Gravity Falls, I guess Stan died, so that’s adding more weight in Dippers shoulders, as He fell in love with his grandpa, the mystery shack was left to soos, and the twins visit from time to time, probably realized that time is short after losing Stan, reason I think he died is because of the eight ball, but who knows, Dipper has episodes of something, probably ptsd, and the depression only leaves his mind when his sister comes along, only problem is Mabel is growing up, making more friends, and letting said friends walk all over her, Dipper is pissed about it. He can’t do anything though without severing the bond he has with his sis. But I smoked a shit ton before this so this is probably wrong, but this is art, and Art is left to interpretation on many accounts, it may not be the true canon, but if it feels true to you, then so be it.
This really captures the picture of what dipper could have possibly been going through after the tv show ended. Teenage stress, missing your childhood and reliving it. Truly a perfect emotional picture.

Crazy to think how I still see things about this show while being in college even though it came out and ended when I was a kid. This show was great and I wished it had kept going but maybe the short time we had it is what made it special. Sad to see no one has posted a comment in 3 years till today for such an amazing video.
I'm really glad this was made. It shows how the PTSD of everything affected Dipper, who took the brunt of the trauma. (Whether because he was actively seeking out mystery or because he was trying to protect Mabel from more than she had already gone through.) I would love to see a spinoff series of Gravity Falls that explores the aftermath of everything they went through. Kind of like Steven Universe Future. I highly doubt either of the twins are okay with what happened after going home. Mabel might have pushed everything down, or found a way to healthily express her trauma. Dipper seems like he would try to ignore it but you could tell it was eating away at him. Maybe they couldn't go back to Gravity Falls for a few summers because their parents were worried, but then Dipper and Mabel's therapists said it would be good for them to go back. To see that it's all over, and has been for awhile.
I would love the idea of an aftermath series, but then that would kill the small chance of a season 3. But, if there was a higher probability of an aftermath series, then that would maybe be better. I'm torn about this, but glad you had the idea

I just rediscovered this video, I used to watch it all the time years ago lol. I love that in your description you mention that you have no idea whats happening, but I think this video makes perfect sense. In the aftermath of there first summer, Dipper finds himself alone and haunted by the Trauma of Bill and Wierdmaggedon, but even with all that haunting him all he can ever think about is his next trip to his true home. Amazing!
He's dealt with a lot over an entire summer. I bet that he suffered through the aftermath greatly. He probably doesn't even feel normal anymore, especially with Bill Cipher being in his head all the time. The video projects it pretty well, especially with using this song's lyrics. So yeah, it does fit. :)
@Vogo Vigo omg!! I am in the same situation, nowadays I am 13 but I think I am the only one of my friends who likes anime and cartoons... My friends were that type of kid that, when it is just 9, acts like a teen of 16. I guess I am the only one who enjoyed the childhood, and, even being a "teen" (I don't consider myself as a teen) I still have this inside child, who makes me feel nostalgic about cartoons like this, who reminds me of my 9 years old version. I love Gravity Falls sm that I am actually watching it again :v
Five years after this came out, and I still wonder what the show would have been now if it kept on going even for a little while. This is the type of thing that shows that even if the show is gone there are still people that use the show to make themselves happy and smile, even for a fleeting second. But I'm happy that it happened, and it ended in such a way that so many people go back to rewatch it and think, they need to make another season. And if there eventually is a continuation of the series or even a revamp of it, they take that into account and bring the show to the fame and enjoyment that Gravity Falls did even years after the show ended.
Nobody is talking about the actual filmology of this. Of course, I'm heartbroken that the show ended. But continuing the lore of it, I would've never thought to think about Dipper being depressed and full of PTSD and anxiety. He's still holding on trying to figure out what happened. And when Stan died, memories started to flood black and now he is believing Bill Cipher is alive. It's so heartbreaking to see a great kid show we watched growing up actually acknowledge the effects of the real world.
It seems like dipper is afraid and obsessed by the thought that bill might still be alive. He has been in a town full of unsolved mysteries and conspiracy and just leaving back home he probably just misses everything he did that summer. This video is so amazing I’ve already watched it twice

My personal theory is we're not getting gravity falls back, but Bill Chiper's threats aren't empty. It's confirmed he will come back. "A different form, a different time." In a different show that the Director of gravity Falls will be working on, we will see another character not at first recognizable as Bill Cipher, but later it will be revealed his past gravity falls.

Yea,,,, I just finished rewatching for the third time I was too little to watch it when it came out because I was scared but I’m glad I did watch it later in life because I watched some when it came out I knew I’d like it and now I really realize how amazing it is it’s emotional and it’s characters feel like real people with real problems like how Pacifica isn’t just that spoiled brat that you know is in every show she is but just cause her parents make her she would be nice if she could and Mabel isn’t just the crazy sibling she has other emotions like when she went into a depressive episode when she got waddles taken from her and how she got rly upset when she realized that high school wasn’t like tv (my personal head head cannon is that she has some form of Nurodivergency) and even went as far as to try and stop time just to keep her summer and not have to grow up the character development is massive and even some side characters get some hecc soos has more backstory and character development than some main characters in shows

I remember being on the last episode, not knowing it was the last episode and when i checked to see what episode it was, it said season 2 episode 20. The smile on my face instantly turned into a frown. I was so eager on continuing but there were only 2 seasons. I cried during the ending scene and said, "Ive never been this sad because a cartoon ended". All the characters are amazing, i love the personalities and most of the fandom is holding up pretty strong even though it ended 7 years ago. I really hope we get some continuation on GF, i need to see bill get brought back (atleast i hope, that dorito is a menace to the universe but is just so cool smh) and i really wanna see dipper and mable when their older, if that happens. Anyways, i love GF sm, i wish it comes back!

Although I love this show with dear heart and think this universe's easily expandable, it's not needed. Just like with my other 3 favorite shows: Cowboy Bebop, Avatar, the last airbender, and Over the Garden Wall this show is short and leaves the rest to your imagination. Stories in these three are finished and feel very fulfilling. The story authors wanted to tell is complete and if you try to add something it will only ruin it. Every time a show was expanded in some sort after the initial ending, it was always worse and lower in quality. If you look at shows I mentioned, Korra was very plain and flawed continuation of the original plot and the movie is considered to be among some of the worst cinematic disasters. I never watched Netflix adaptation of cowboy bebop buy just from the reviews and the trailer. I can tell this show is wack. I like Gravity Falls just as it is, plus it's very rewatchbale as you catch new details every time.

Yeah disneys down for more Dipper and Mabel story’s apparently Alex Hirsh said but apparently because Disney didn’t want a spinoff with Stan and Ford I think Alex decided to start fresh with Netflix. He said he’s making a tv show there and he said it gives off gravity falls vibes. Before he said he wouldn’t mind doing more Dipper and Mabel stories but I’m sure he wants to be known for more since he gets flooded with questions about “where’s season 3? Are you making another season for Gravity Falls”
Honestly as much as I would love for another season I don’t think we will maybe another comic book hopefully apparently we were supposed to have Blendins time journal but it never released. Also Disney was supposed to JUST give the “ok” for Alex Hirsh’ Gravity Falls book that he planned with a publishing company that was I think he said supposed to give more information than with what Disney made and they even put in a screenshot with the book that Alex hates. Plus with disneys homophobia his partner Dana Terrace had her show cancelled for it and in Gravity Falls the deputies were supposed to get together (they kinda did but more affection towards each other would have been amazing) and Love God matched two dudes together in the storyboard.

i feel like mabel is seen to not really care about things, but i can relate to her more than any other character on the show. She probably has some PTSD from weirdmagedon too, and on top of that huge amounts of shame. Her mental response to that is to be happy all the time, i feel like shes so stuck in this world where her joy is her only personality trait and if she were to show different emotions she would loose friends. Not like she isnt happy sometimes or even most of the time. And add that to being second best to dipper in litrally everything and now that he isnt able to hide his ptsd and depression well she has become his protector too

In a way, I appreciate how it didn't stretch its length for too long. Alex knew exactly when the show would end and in what way. He acknowledged the conditions of concluding the show and ended it in one of the greatest finales I have ever seen. I'm glad they didn't want to milk production too much and we can all agree that the show basically just wanted to tell a story. THIS is why I think Gravity Falls is a masterpiece and should be celebrated.

This here is a masterpiece.
It perfectly traps the nostalgia of gravity falls we all knew back in 2012. Gosh has it really been over 10 years since that next summer that never came? I love how in the background it counted up to 2020. Also the mental breakdowns dipper is having due to his PTSD with bill. Mable always standing up for him as usual and seeing all the characters a little older is great too. The music itself is sad, yet happy. It not only speaks about dipper feeling like gravity falls is his true home, but all of us who grew up with the show. What id give to go back there and have a new mystery to solve. That next summer note hurt to see cause that's what we all have been waiting for...a next summer.
I think I can say on the behalf of everyone that yes, we know there will never be a 3rd season, but every year we get that stupid theory that makes completely 0 sense and have a twitch of hope. Although we all know it'll never come, we want it so so badly.

What I got from this is that he had a hard time letting go, eventually they had transportation there and back, that or they started school in Gravity Falls, I guess Stan died, so that’s adding more weight in Dippers shoulders, as He fell in love with his grandpa, the mystery shack was left to soos, and the twins visit from time to time, probably realized that time is short after losing Stan, reason I think he died is because of the eight ball, but who knows, Dipper has episodes of something, probably ptsd, and the depression only leaves his mind when his sister comes along, only problem is Mabel is growing up, making more friends, and letting said friends walk all over her, Dipper is pissed about it. He can’t do anything though without severing the bond he has with his sis. But I smoked a shit ton before this so this is probably wrong, but this is art, and Art is left to interpretation on many accounts, it may not be the true canon, but if it feels true to you, then so be it.

Crazy to think how I still see things about this show while being in college even though it came out and ended when I was a kid. This show was great and I wished it had kept going but maybe the short time we had it is what made it special. Sad to see no one has posted a comment in 3 years till today for such an amazing video.
I'm really glad this was made. It shows how the PTSD of everything affected Dipper, who took the brunt of the trauma. (Whether because he was actively seeking out mystery or because he was trying to protect Mabel from more than she had already gone through.) I would love to see a spinoff series of Gravity Falls that explores the aftermath of everything they went through. Kind of like Steven Universe Future. I highly doubt either of the twins are okay with what happened after going home. Mabel might have pushed everything down, or found a way to healthily express her trauma. Dipper seems like he would try to ignore it but you could tell it was eating away at him. Maybe they couldn't go back to Gravity Falls for a few summers because their parents were worried, but then Dipper and Mabel's therapists said it would be good for them to go back. To see that it's all over, and has been for awhile.

I would love the idea of an aftermath series, but then that would kill the small chance of a season 3. But, if there was a higher probability of an aftermath series, then that would maybe be better. I'm torn about this, but glad you had the idea

@@AlexLoafOfBread its been like nine years my dude i think hope is already lost. Besides I think they wrapped everything up very nicely. There is something to appreciate about a short but sweet, quality over quantity, tv show untainted by sequels or prequels. Just a one and done thing. That's what I like about it so much.

I love that in your description you mention that you have no idea whats happening, but I think this video makes perfect sense. In the aftermath of there first summer, Dipper finds himself alone and haunted by the Trauma of Bill and Wierdmaggedon, but even with all that haunting him all he can ever think about is his next trip to his true home. Amazing!

He's dealt with a lot over an entire summer. I bet that he suffered through the aftermath greatly. He probably doesn't even feel normal anymore, especially with Bill Cipher being in his head all the time. The video projects it pretty well, especially with using this song's lyrics. @Vogo Vigo omg!! I am in the same situation, nowadays I am 13 but I think I am the only one of my friends who likes anime and cartoons... My friends were that type of kid that, when it is just 9, acts like a teen of 16. I guess I am the only one who enjoyed the childhood, and, even being a "teen" (I don't consider myself as a teen) I still have this inside child, who makes me feel nostalgic about cartoons like this, who reminds me of my 9 years old version. I love Gravity Falls sm that I am actually watching it again :v

Five years after this came out, and I still wonder what the show would have been now if it kept on going even for a little while. This is the type of thing that shows that even if the show is gone there are still people that use the show to make themselves happy and smile, even for a fleeting second. But I'm happy that it happened, and it ended in such a way that so many people go back to rewatch it and think, they need to make another season. And if there eventually is a continuation of the series or even a revamp of it, they take that into account and bring the show to the fame and enjoyment that Gravity Falls did even years after the show ended.

Nobody is talking about the actual filmology of this. Of course, I'm heartbroken that the show ended. But continuing the lore of it, I would've never thought to think about Dipper being depressed and full of PTSD and anxiety. He's still holding on trying to figure out what happened. And when Stan died, memories started to flood black and now he is believing Bill Cipher is alive. It's so heartbreaking to see a great kid show we watched growing up actually acknowledge the effects of the real world.
