    4:14 - Minor typo, the Direct Support Platoon is abbreviated as SAD (for Section d'appui direct) rather than SAED, which is the Dismounted Engagement Support Platoon (Section d'aide à l'engagement débarqué).
    Elaboration to the point at 13:12, apparently the French may be looking at getting more of the 7.62 Evolys than the 5.56 ( x.com/Marsattaqueblog/status/1802982372813557975 ). I don't know if that means the 7.62 Evolys could become a squad automatic in some squads of the platoon, but something to think about

    11:15 - I think the "resilience" comes from the squad being able to survive the loss of a single team without completely losing its ability to engage a certain kind of target. Under the trinome system, the squad is always one grenade or one autocannon burst away from either losing both of its anti-armour weapons, or the MG and grenadier at the same time. Under the binome system the two anti-armour systems and the two anti-massed infantry systems can be kept separate from each other (because they don't answer to the same team leader), so that even after one lucky hit the squad still has the ability to engage vehicles and massed infantry (and engage at long range, if you count the DMR and MG as redundancies).

    • @GoldandPearl
      @GoldandPearl 4 месяца назад +8

      thats quite good explanation but if you ask me. none of the current doctrines are good enough. fire teams and support teams must work as buddy and respond to same leader. imagine every rifle squad has 3 man drone support team that can engage in comms real time to operate. basicly you will have minimap leader can mark lokations in real time. with proper fpv drone support no rifle suqad needs anti tank support like it used to be. let grunt be grunt dont make things complicated for them. there is no more massed infantry assult anymore. mg is basicly just fire support unit. russia using 2 by 2 infiltartion tactics. as any fpv drone will target you if you are more then 2 person. and there hundereds flying at the same time.

    • @paxundpeace9970
      @paxundpeace9970 4 месяца назад +5

      The new squad level tactics seem problematic.
      5 binoms will be difficult to coordinate and it would be rather more helpful to build two fire teams.

    • @boosterh1113
      @boosterh1113 4 месяца назад +3

      @@paxundpeace9970 I'd imagine they can be rather easily task organized into two fireteams if you wanted. I think the binomes are just building blocks that let you mix and match capabilities.
      A squad is small enough that you can just say "B,C teams you'll be with me and my A team; Cpl Bloggins, you'll be in charge of E in addition to your own D team." It isn't like a larger unit where you have to sort out staff relationships or people not knowing who their chain of command is.

    It definitely seems like the French are taking lessons from the Ukraine conflict. A ton of organic anti tank weaponry, drones for longer range strike missions, and more mobile heavy mortars. However it does seem like that no one is trying to include any anti drone capabilities, for either the battlefield or the rear area, FPV and long range loitering drones have become a very real threat that is cheap and easily mass produceable.

      The Germans are installing a radiolocation device on their autocannon turrets (on the Puma and Boxer) , to detect the radiation of incoming drones, the guns can automatically target the drones, maybe the French will make something similar. That's on top of dedicated SHORAD and EW equipment.

    The VBCI for exemple has good chances to end up staying, with a brand new version rolling out with new armor, redesigned turret and 30mm canon among other things
    The Eryx doesnt have a clear replacer just yet, the MLAW being one, although the ERYX Missile sytem Mk2 being also on the table but slightly pricier aswell as the karl gustav
    For the ERYX squad, it wont necessarily dissapear, Precision shooters usually work on a compagnie level and so are no longer stuck to squads, the person replacing them usualy being either a 2iC for the SL or a specialist like a drone Operator
    Switching to 2 man teams instead of 3 man teams would help flexibility and manoeuvrability but also enable us to be even more aggressive in our fighting style and also carry more firepower, very useful for either ERYX or MAG 58 teams, we longer need to limit ourselves to 2 per squad, now they can be one gunner and one aid

    Adding a commando platoon to every regiment/BTGr is a really cool idea, and it's interesting to see all those NATO militaries starting to embrace deep battle concepts, focusing both on frontline and backline troops equally. Imagine how difficult it would be for a Russian or Chinese mechanised unit to operate if their C3 had to stay far away from the actual line units due to fear of being destroyed by a bunch of madmen running around their rear, getting constantly targeted and jammed. Lightning war is great and all, but we can see how armored pushes are oftentimes rarely viable like in Ukraine, so having a capability to put pressure and push an enemy without exposing your main body is a really great capability to have.

    The Small Quadcopter Bomber Drones should really be relegated to Company level, specialist Squad, attached to C&C, since they double as Reconnaissance (full team of 2x4). So you can upsize for Artillery Tube/Rocket Battery's using bigger Recon drones. The Tactical Loitering Munition (Shorter range Kamikaze) Drones should be organized as 1 whole platoon, since strikes are person directed, and provide incidental recon, and being able to be attached to Companies ad-hoc. The Medium Range Drones (Kamikaze + Recon) should be given as a whole Company and to be attached to Brigade level units, same who can direct Extended Range Fires.

    If I counted right France is reorganizing into 19 regiments yes? That's actually a pretty sizeable number of trigger-pullers. Among those 19 are a large number of specialized units. Hmm.
    I think you have to credit France for getting incredible value from her defense spending. Value as compared to other nations of course. Army navy air forces all modern and sizeable, and oh yes strategic nuclear weapons.

      @@BattleOrder In fact, France has also some 6X6 VAB WITH 20 MM F1 machine cannons... but most were originally reserved to Fusiliers Commando de l'air (air base defense units)... Few were in Armée de Terre... from a former staff sergeant originally serving in mechanised infantry (5° RI then 16°BCP), firstly on AMX 30B then on AMX10P... in heavy mechanised infantry regiment, we had 17 MBT (a company), 3 infantry companies on AMX10P (then 4, then 5 when removed AMX 30B). There was also a divisional CEA (Compagnie d'Eclairage et d'Appui) with VAB Hot, VAB and tracted 20 mm AA and VAB with 120 mm mortar (very strong and accurate). Slowly the AMX 10P was replaced with the VBCI. I have known the old "groupe" of 10 men under sergent command : The Sergeant, then a choc team of 4 Grenadiers Voltigeurs (2 binomes of 2) under a corporal orders and support team of 4 (2 binome of 2, one with AT 89 mm rocket launcher (or RAC 112 mm) and a binome with a ANF1 (AA52) then replaced by a minimi machine gun, then a Sniper (with FRF2 7,62 mm or FRF1 7,5 mm then the PGM Hecate 12,7 mm)... this system was abandonned in mid 90's for 1 sergent and 3 trinomes of 3. The professionalisation of the french army let the mechanised infantry platoon passing from 1 off/4 NCO's/27 soldiers (conscripts) (or 0/5/27) to a 1/9/27 with a NCO in each armoured car and one with each infantry groupe ... the platton was often a Lieutenant... but sometimes a Sergeant Major or even an Adjudant-Chef could lead... then there was a second to leader (Adjudant-Chef or Adjudant or even Sergent-Chef), then young sergeants as group leader (sometimes very experienced Chief Corporal 1st class). The professional and the more modern and complkexe armoured car asked more NCO's.

    # 2 You take ALL of your combat support guys and have an assault pioneer platoon, an anti-tank platoon, a reconnaissance platoon with snipers, a mortar platoon, you name it, and assign them to various tasks.
    # 3 You throw the org chart out the window! And assign motarmen, machine gunners, anti-tank, assault pioneers, combat engineers and snipers, air defence, you name it, based on requirements. Think Afghanistan.
