The problem with Asian Grocery Stores is you don't know where the food is grown and the there is very little Pesticide Regulation in most of these countries.....
you can easily grow your own. They're greens after all! Besides - it's greens - so toxins are not as bioaccumulated as animal products. I don't worry much about it, but there's always diy sprouts and microgreens.
This is also my question. I'm yet to see if Dr Greger addresses it in a video or the book as I'm just starting the greger journey. But, yes, there is the important distinction for me of organic vs. everything else when it comes to leafy veggies.
Sebastopol Sunday farm market, we have a grower who does incredible Taiwanese green veggies. Had a heart issue after covd booster and calmed down with weekly greens.

My book just came !!! One day earlier !!! and I am cooking an amazing soup of broccoli cauliflower sweet potato purple and orange and onion red and green and I will add lentils to it .. Dr. Greger I love you!!! you are my saver !!!
35:15 that sounds like something I would say. Did chuck hear it from me? The cheapest meal is just frozen vegetables, tomato paste, some water, and italian herbs (I'm talking the green leaves - like oregano, etc.) and you got yourself a vegetable soup. I guess you can get the frozen pasta for that extra satiety - but that's a few dollars more. It's much easier to add some nutritional yeast and call it a day.
book of immortality - so many details are going on my personal website after I get through the mega 50 minutes of this! Wow Physicians Committee - just wow!
Great interview. I am a perfectionist and have a tendency to be hard on myself for. “Imperfect” eating. You have given me a lot to think about in terms of balance and self compassion. Thank you.
So long as you are not harming someone else (non human animals) I think it's at least not ethically wrong to cheat every so often 😊 I eat mostly whole food plant based but every so often do eat French fries and yummy beyond meat burgers and vegan ice cream 🍦☺️ on special days
This was a great interview. It would be helpful to watch an interview with Chuck Carroll and Dr Greger discuss weight loss surgery. Understanding that Chuck Carroll had weight loss surgery and appears to be thriving.
Laughing at Dr. Greger taking lychees to the movie theater - yum! I’ve been taking steamed potatoes to the movies with me for the last couple of years but maybe I should branch out and bring fruit!
Several ‘laugh out loud moments for me. As a health professional myself, I resonated to Dr. Greger’s story about his reaction on taking his smoking colleague aside only to discover that if he wasn’t smoking he’d resume heroin (min 31]. Changed Micheal’s demeanour 180 degrees to ‘Okay! Let me buy you a pack!). Professor-Elizabeth
I really appreciated hearing the discussion of body positivity and fat shaming … It’s such a delicate subject in some circles, which probably makes it harder to express concern or share information.
I thought you were talking about the interviewer. How old is that guy? I looked up Goldhamer. He is a chiropractor. He looks like any guy in his 50s. By the way Michael Gregor has a big Chip in his front tooth, I don't think he plays hockey. It may be demineralization.
My favorite grocery store is a “mom and pop” (literally!) Korean grocery store! I go every weekend! Love their produce, unique grains, dried soybeans, frozen Korean corn on the cob (very different from US), etc. Love it!
44:13 people never talk about this - but calcium is an internal sunscreen - it forms antioxidants on the skin. I would imagine blue/purple foods probably do the best to repel as well - since they reflect blue light and purple - so they might reflect the UV rays. I would imagine salt being bad for the skin. Another one that's super powerful's coq10.
32:50 there is also the aspect that personal choice has impacts on public health spending. bit i guess on the other hand also less spending on retirement
11:18 I really don't like Thompson green grapes. Where I get grapes with seeds is right off the plant. They grow concord grapes where I live - they taste like mangos. Wine grapes are extremely rich in color - the color goes all the way through the inside of the grape! If you can get a hold of wine grapes to eat - that's awesome! The less acidic, the better as well.
His thoughts about Asian markets are interesting, but unless I missed something, he doesn’t talk about how these exotic vegetables, etc., are grown…meaning possible use of pesticides, etc. I have a Concord grape vine (with seeds) in my yard and I juice, freeze for smoothies, etc. It is such an amazing producer that I have as much as I can handle and also share with neighbors. I know those grapes are organic, and I know that grapes purchased from supermarkets are generally on the dirty dozen, so how are those lucious grapes (and veggies) in the Asian market grown? Louise J.
36:18 but pasta made from green peas is similar to wheat pasta. I guess if you want 'whole wheat' the closest is buckwheat - but maybe that has little nutritional value compared to legumes. I love banza more than wheat pasta (then again I can't eat gluten much, but still).
13:00 why goji berries when sumac berries have the highest orac value we know? And it's dry! According to my research (in order) - it's blueberries, bilberries, oranges, carob, currants (black), and elderberries that're the top for fruit for flavanoids (yes - I did my own research too). That said - soy - being a seed - beats them all, as well as tea - which is a leaf. The issue with goji berries is that they're in the nightshade family - so it can be triggering for certain people. So that's when I'd cede to sumac, blueberries, etc. No need to deny - acai is the fruit after sumac with the most orac value. Then again - the internet says dragon's blood beats out everything with a whopping over 2 million orac value. So where's that being said? I guess I have to look to find out.
I love all the info and I learn a lot from this fast glimpses into the book. I Will drop sauerkraut and kimchi because of the salt, eat even more green vegetables and use vinegar in steak for cabbage - and summer in warwe at low temperature - and I must Reading the book ( wish is was a serie of books - Easter to bring with you when travelling 😇🙏🙏🙏 for all the inspiration 🌷❤️
Dr. Funk said broccoli sprouts (i.e. nature's candy) has the most sulforaphanes around! Just make your own saurkraut - because at least that'd have the microbes for vitamin K2! The mk-7 type as well.
44:13 I went to sunbaking hawaii and was in the sun all day. I wore sunscreen on all of my body except my face. I put Rachel Perry's Elastin and Collagen Firming Treatment on there - and the thing is - sometimes I forgot to wear sunscreen on my body. It didn't matter - whether or not I wore sunscreen - my body burned and the skin peeled even. Only my face that I didn't put sunscreen on didn't! I see it has marshmallow in it - so maybe that's what does the trick? There's studies that say it protects against the worst - UVA radiation. It also has "French Coneflower, Horsetail, Comfrey Root (Allantoin), Belgian Chamomile, Korean Ginseng, Bladderwrack, Linden, Ivy, Yarrow and Witch Hazel" plus algae and avocado. So there's something to it where there's edible plants that're better than sunscreen!
5:02 even though ashkenazis have disproportionately higher risks of certain genetic diseases than the rest of the population - they also happen to be the ones key to longevity? So mind-boggling!
Hello from texas 👋 I have a question, what's the best way to eat for no gallbladder? And am I at a higher risk for fat deficiency? What foods do I avoid and what foods should I eat ?
You will still be able to digest fat. Bile is made by your liver but gets stored in the gallbladder. So the bile will just drip into your intestines. Unfortunately bile is irritating and there's a lot of evidence that this increases your rate for colon cancer and probably other diseases. So to get your liver to produce less bile you need to eat low fat. And eat lots of fiber to soak up the bile dripping into your intestines. And it's impossible to not get enough fat on a plant based diet. If you're eating enough to maintain a healthy weight you will be fine. Even if you ate literally just potatoes and broccoli. Dr mcdougall had a lecture on RUclips called the skinny on fat where he talks about this. But if you're still worried about it then add a tablespoon of flax or chia seed or 1 ounce of nuts.

My book just came !!! One day earlier !!! and I am cooking an amazing soup of broccoli cauliflower sweet potato purple and orange and onion red and green and I will add lentils to it .. Dr. Greger I love you!!! you are my saver !!!
He's the BEST ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Excellent interview!
Looking forward to his next book on how to build muscle!
Wonder how many lives, both human and animal, Dr. Greger has saved or just made better.
Asian markets. who knows Dr Greger likes to shop there. Thank God. God bless!
I wish everyone on the planet knew all this factual information. What a difference it would make overall to mankind.
I just wish the average doctor knew it.
Love this doctor 😇great information and interview 😊thank you both so much for everything you do to keep us informed 🙏🙏
Dr. Greger is an international treasure. Heroes wear broccoli.
I can hardly wait to get the book!
Have reserved a copy from my local library.
book of immortality - so many details are going on my personal website after I get through the mega 50 minutes of this! Wow Physicians Committee - just wow!
Chuck, I agree, Dr M. Greger is the greatest in his field, in my honest opinion.
Dr Gregor is amazing in my opinion. Thank you!!!
Perfect Christmas gift, just give it early
I LOVE DR GREGER !!! My BOOK ARRIVING TOMORROW!!! Can't wait !!
Great interview with the Dr.
A plethora of good info!!!!
I think dr. Greger made a lot of sense.
Chuck did a good interview.
13:23 tatsoi's my favorite asian green! I do love me crysanthemum greens as well. Still - no greens beat rose geranium! Still my fav.
Great interview. I am a perfectionist and have a tendency to be hard on myself for. “Imperfect” eating. You have given me a lot to think about in terms of balance and self compassion. Thank you.
So long as you are not harming someone else (non human animals) I think it's at least not ethically wrong to cheat every so often 😊 I eat mostly whole food plant based but every so often do eat French fries and yummy beyond meat burgers and vegan ice cream 🍦☺️ on special days
already preordered the book and can’t wait to read it!
Can't wait for the german translation of how not to age!🌱💚
why not get a phone app to hover over the pages for you?
Two heroes right there ❤
Made sure to pre-order the book from the local book store.
This was a great interview. It would be helpful to watch an interview with Chuck Carroll and Dr Greger discuss weight loss surgery. Understanding that Chuck Carroll had weight loss surgery and appears to be thriving.
Finally Michael Greger
Laughing at Dr. Greger taking lychees to the movie theater - yum! I’ve been taking steamed potatoes to the movies with me for the last couple of years but maybe I should branch out and bring fruit!
eh - my choice of movie theater smuggling's puffed amaranth tbh. Gotta have me some lysine with people around me. It's nature's lysol!
I take grapes….
The salt thing is very good info.👍🏼
Looking great and green. Loved the tie!
Michael Gregor looks and sounds so young. He is a shining beacon of good health for the to the world to see the power of a plant based diet.
Don't know if you follow Alan goldhamer. Plant based Dr. He is in his 60s and looks in his 40s, their skin is so smooth.
Thanks for the heads up. his skin looks pretty good compared to Michael Gregor's. He should be the one being interviewed. @@Goodbyeeveryonehere
I thought you were talking about the interviewer. How old is that guy? I looked up Goldhamer. He is a chiropractor. He looks like any guy in his 50s. By the way Michael Gregor has a big Chip in his front tooth, I don't think he plays hockey. It may be demineralization.
Woot! 🥦❤
My favorite grocery store is a “mom and pop” (literally!) Korean grocery store! I go every weekend! Love their produce, unique grains, dried soybeans, frozen Korean corn on the cob (very different from US), etc. Love it!
p.s. The woman at my Korean grocery store makes vegan kimchee for me with miso instead of salt! ❤
I had a local asian grocery store growing up too that was also mom and pop. I don't think they were korean, but who knows?
just preordered my book... very excited to get it and read it. 😍 🙏
Just ordered the book- Xmas gift to myself🎁🎄
My book arrives Thursday 7th November and can't wait. Wish there was a How Not To Age Diet Die book group on Facebook to discuss Dr. Greger's work.
Cannot wait for How not to Age to download to my Kindle on Friday. 🎉🎉🎉
Great Video!!
Louise J.
This depends on the country you live in and what's allowed there.
I remember him talking in some video about bio foods.
Hi from Denmark…..Love it ❤
36:18 but pasta made from green peas is similar to wheat pasta. I guess if you want 'whole wheat' the closest is buckwheat - but maybe that has little nutritional value compared to legumes. I love banza more than wheat pasta (then again I can't eat gluten much, but still).
Since I last watch dr Micheal Gregory he seems to look younger!
“Coke vs milk” 😂 or the noose versus the bullet
I love all the info and I learn a lot from this fast glimpses into the book. I Will drop sauerkraut and kimchi because of the salt, eat even more green vegetables and use vinegar in steak for cabbage - and summer in warwe at low temperature - and I must Reading the book ( wish is was a serie of books - Easter to bring with you when travelling 😇🙏🙏🙏 for all the inspiration 🌷❤️
And gogi berries - I Will look for Them too 🙏
Dr. Funk said broccoli sprouts (i.e. nature's candy) has the most sulforaphanes around! Just make your own saurkraut - because at least that'd have the microbes for vitamin K2! The mk-7 type as well.
36:40 "stfu" I wasn't expecting that lmao
Listening to Sally Norton is scaring me about high oscillate greens (foods) causing health problems. What's the best?
Do you mean oxalates? If so, watch Dr brooke goldner talk about them. They're not a problem at all
Chuck Carroll and Dr. Greger?? Shut the front door!!!
not eating polyphenols is like not breathing! It's the key to life!
Hello from texas 👋
I have a question, what's the best way to eat for no gallbladder?
@heatherh3487 yes the liver has to detoxify all that.
I'm in Vietnam and I really hope this book gets translated into vietnamese 🙏
