    garlic hack: I cut off the top of the garlic head and bake in the microwave, approx 1 minute per garlic head (depending on how powerful your microwave oven is, mine is not v. powerful). The garlic becomes soft and sweet and it's much quicker than roasting in the oven. Once it's cooled down, it's really easy to remove the outer skin and add to salads, soups, anything really. A great timesaver

    No one seems to want to answer me on these topics, how can so many doctors be so different when it comes to food. Dr Ken Berry, Sten Eckberg along with many others swear by Keto and the Conivoire diet while Dr Neal Barnard and others swear by the Vegan diet. One and many doctors say that it's not the saturated fat that's the problem and that it's good for us while the others say that it is bad for us. They do agree that sugar and processed foods are bad. They all have scientific proof and stats to back up what they say. What is going on? This really confuses people, who should we believe? I would like to see all these doctors have a debate together...
    I don't think either one is feasible, I still believe that it should be balanced between the 2 and eliminate all the junk food and eat whole foods...

      Yes, thanks for posting! I couldn't have said it better myself! All these excellent doctors you've mentioned have some very opposing views. Yep: Who are we to believe? A debate would be great! Until then, what we have to work with are what they do agree on: stay with eating whole foods, and cut down on sugar and processed/junk food.

    Such an interesting discussion!! I became hard-core vegan in June 2021 after the shocking heart-disease death of my beloved brother. I was wearing wigs at the time due to progressive hair loss which I thought was related to medication I am taking. Now, 18 months later, I notice that my hair is looking much better. The bald spots all over my head are gone, and the parts are more normal. Yay! I'm still wearing wigs, but at least I have the option now to go without. Wonderful information!

    • @RK-tf8pq
      @RK-tf8pq Год назад +1

      @@a_teez8913 it is turmeric dose dependent, so it is usually not recommended to take iron supplements with turmeric supplements. I don’t know how much iron absorption is reduced when turmeric is taken at a doses found in whole spices. Also iron absorption can be significantly increased when taken with vitamin C. I need to further research this to find how much effect this has when turmeric is consumed as a spice. I remember one study showing 20% to 90% reduction in iron absorption depending on turmeric dose, don’t remember if it was turmeric supplement or the spice. I guess we can make sure to consume turmeric separately from foods high in iron. For iron supplements, most of them are recommended not to take after meal or with other supplements.
      On the other hand, in case of iron build up in the body, turmeric can be useful to reduce excess iron (turmeric supplements have shown to reduce iron build up by chelation, and it is considered best supplement to reduce iron build up. (Reduction in absorption of iron by turmeric is a different phenomenon than reduction in build up of iron by turmeric, in the former case, it just stops the absorption by binding with some peptides responsible for iron absorption, while in the latter case, it chelates already built up iron). By the way, excess iron is also not good, as it oxidizes which can cause diseases. Absorption of non-heme iron is regulated by the body, but heme iron absorption cannot be regulated and can cause buildup.

      @RK-tf8pq Год назад

      @@kevinwilson3337 I think that you should listen some of the episodes of to Dr. Will B, one of the guests today who is an expert in the area of microbiome. Bloating May be related to dysbiosis of gut microbe. Meaning your gut may not have microbes to effectively process plant foods (fiber). In that case, you need to introduces plant based foods very slowly (go very slow over weeks) and build up your gut microbes (increase the variety of microbes). Avoiding plant foods removes symptoms such as bloating but it only increases dysbiosis further according to Dr. B. (One needs to go towards what is known as symbiosis). Suddenly going to full plant based when your gut is not ready is like doing heavy exercise without prior training. One needs to slowly build up to such an exercise. That is according to Dr. B’s prior answers to those who have gut symptoms upon consuming plant based foods. You can check out his previous interviews, or ask your own question when he is live next time (he is a monthly regular on Exam Room Live).

    I support all who make changes to their diet in pursuit of better health. Even though I don’t agree with the LDL and HDL are cholesterol, I do agree with taking your health seriously. Cholesterol is a waxy substance that is carried by LDL or HDL. The level of cholesterol in the body is tightly regulated by the body and is essential for life, without cholesterol you would be dead. My wish for the new year is for Dr Barnard and whoever state LDL and HDL is cholesterol correct themselves and state it for exactly what it is. A waxy substance that is made by the body. By no means is Doctor Attia tis not the only one that recognizes this fact, eating cholesterol rich food doesn’t raise the level of cholesterol in your body. Your body must convert what it wants to use through the liver; what is not used is excreted in your poop. Keep up the fight for good health but we should be 100% truthful when we state something is factual.

      Saturated fat turns into cholesterol. Attia is wrong for saying what you eat doesn't turn into cholesterol. I challenge you to make a video where you eat only bacon, 3x a day for a whole month & get your cholesterol checked after.

      You need the reality check. L.DL stands for low density lipoprotein. Cholesterol is defined in the dictionary as: a steroid alcohol C27H45OH that is present in animal cells and body fluids, regulates membrane fluidity

      You may be an outlier or perhaps you exercise a lot to counteract the negative effects of the cholesterol you're ingesting. Consumption of cholesterol, however, is NOT GOOD for anyone. PERIOD!

    Stress (mental & physical) raises cholesterol. Sugar dissolves in water & is not the main cause of diabetes. Look at marathon runners, they put enormous amount of sugar in their drinks & they are not diabetic.

    • @annemccarron2281

      Many runners DO end up becoming diabetics & they attribute the acquisition to the large number of simple carbs they were encouraged to eat.
