Excellent tips, thanks. Our washer is a top-loading Roper, bought for $345 in 2001. The only repair it's ever needed was a DIY bypass of the lid switch. Our dryer was inherited with the house we bought in 2008. The data plate says it was made in 1968 or 1978. Its only repair was to replace the belt, also DIY. I'm living on borrowed time.
😅😂 Someone made fun of me at work when I told him I clean my washer. Cause it didn't believe me that you had to clean your washer. This is why I still have a working LG washer cause those things go really fast.
Been using a front load washer for 25 years. Never had a problem with odors or mold...and I use fabric softener in every load. Rule #1...don't wash everything in cold water! Do some whites in hot with some Clorox bleach once in a while. #2...When it's finished, leave the door OPEN! If you can, pull the detergent drawer out and let it drain too. My Asko user manual says to leave the door open. I use pods for colors and powders for whites. Liquid detergents cause whites to turn gray over time...and I have a water softener. Switched to Tide or Cheer powder and my whites have remained white for a few years now.
Great video, I actually have a brand new LG silver 5.2 washer that you were standing in front of in the beginning, I love it.. On the front loaders I hear to really never use Liquid detergent or liquid fabric softener as that has animal fats and can gum up the works and cause more mildew odors..
I'm surprised he didn't cover the drain and filter behind the little front door on front-loaders. There's a hose to drain leftover water to help with smelly stuff.
What about using white distilled vinegar in an HE top load washer? There’s a lot of conflicting information on whether or not it corrodes the rubber and other components of a washer.

Thanks for the tips! You’re absolutely right about the liquid detergents not making whites white! I’m going to try some powder on my next white load.

When did the front loaders first come out? We had one when I was a child, 50+ years ago.

I wouldn’t use it
Using bleach is a hell of a lot more corrosive than vinegar ever could be.
Good info
Thanks alot
I just started using an o3 laundry system that use Ozone water and no detergent at all and it’s amazing. But is it ok for my washer?
Why is maytag not even on this list?
