The reason the peep twist effects your left/right impact point is that when your peep is straight you can get equal light value around your scope because you are looking through a circle. When the peep is twisted you are then looking through a vertical oval shape, there for it is much harder to have the scope centred. This is why you're peep hole size is so important you should be able to see the smallest amount of light around your scope to get the consistent position of the scope.
+gary pearse awesome thanks gary
Hey Jimi, hey Greg. Say hi to the hermit who refuses to viewed in public even though I've seen him on video b4 in Jimi's backyard.
I did the same thing for 2 reasons. 2 years ago I bought a Stan SX-3 which feels better in my hand like no other. Instead of the 4th finger that u place your pinkie on I discovered to draw the release with 3 fingers to a very natural and index finger friendly position. Then in my shot procession I put my pinkie on top of the release & make a 👊. It is so repeatable & it is like squeezing your two shoulder blades together. For 2 years now I find it very repeatable. I went from a trigger finger to a lower quality thumb release when I realized the SX-3 was what I Naturally Needed. After nock tuning my own shafts & going through that process I've found that I can get the same results. Thanks to Steven Hann for that little tidbit. I'm here during a sweltering heat wave here in Minnesota just killing it on my backyard archery range with the best accuracy I've had in 20 years. Thanks for u guys from down under on RUclips since the marketing playbook here in 🇺🇸 seems to be written by Bernie Madoff.
P.S. Love the Marky Mark reference that I use all the time. Hey gunnie, the 🌎 isn't always what it seems. As soon as u think you've got it figured out...you're WRONG!😜
Yewww
Miss U Jimi ###🤙
By the way, if u shoot skinny arrows outdoors, u can buy the Victory Sport shafts like Steven Hann suggests. Just make sure u have a quality shaft squaring tool like the 1 made by Lumenok. I can't believe that squaring both ends of the shaft & then nock tuning b4 fletching how every shaft is turning out like gold. I'm spending about 1/2 the amount of US $ which of course just makes me buy , make & test more shafts.🤙
When moving the peep sight, you should also just adjust the scope in the same direction just a little bit, then you'll be fine, so if the peep moves up about 2cm then move the scope up the same amount. That also should work with all distances, so at 90m you move the scope up the same amount from the previous sight setting as what you move it up from 18m.
+Deathshadow42 thats right bro
I see Trent has been here again.......even dislikes are good.....they love to hate me and they hate to love me!
I have experienced left to right arrow placement and the result was a slight twist on my peep. shooting 30 yards in the wind made it apparent to me, shooting outside I noticed my eye that looks through the peep was slightly blocked out so I closed the eye not looking through my peep, sure enough it was twisted. shot the arrow and had the same group as the round before, to the left. gave my string a slight twist to lignin my peep back up and boom center shots. amazing how something like vision or sight is able to change your shot even if it's not very noticeable under regular conditions.
+Knighthunt thanks for letting us know about that ill have to check my peep
I was shooting victory vap1 400s with tip weight of 140 but recently switched to the victory elite v1 350....with the 140 points. ... have experimented with alot of vanes but settled on the xvanes 2.25" shield cut
+rich cardoso yeah i dont mind those vanes either
My two best arrows are currently 28.5" Carbon Express 350 Blue Maxima with 2" Blazer Vanes and 100 gr Points. But my favorite arrows currently are Black Eagle Spartans 28.5" 250 with 2.7" AAE Max Stealth Vanes and 100 gr Points. :)
I ordered a tru ball pro diamond xtreme today, it's got a rotations head on it so I should be able to get comfortable
+Nathan Haley awesome make sure u let us know how it is when u get if u like it and stuff iv been looking at that release
I think peep rotation changing the impact point happens mostly because of the clarifier.
My advice would be to not use a clarifier if you can manage it, it's just more trouble than it's worth.
You don't need to see the target clearly to aim at the centre of the gold.
+Kfir Behar yeah good tip
I can imagine the twist may affect flight however if your nocks are loose fitting on your string it shouldn't be an issue. I'm shooting CX Maxima blu RZ arrows 250 with a 100grain point and bohning ice vanes. i've personally shot personal bests with them and many Australian field shooters have shot records with these arrows. They relatively cheap, I personally use them for fita. Tolerences on these arrows are unmatched and the triple spine makes them fly perfectly straight. (Have shot around 330's and 340's with these at 50m)
+LegitimatelyAxeL thats interesting ill have to look into those arrows what lenth r your arrows and what poundage do u shoot
My arrows are cut to 28.5 inches. My actual draw length is 27.5. I'm shooting 57.5# out if a Hoyt pro comp with spiral x cams. Due to the tripple spine I have honestly never found arrows that tuned up so easily. I shot bullet holes through paper without touching anything then I handed my arrows to other guys in the club with different set ups and it equally shot the same for them!!
+LegitimatelyAxeL ok awesome thanks for that ill check them out now
No worries they're probably also the prettiest arrows you'll find haha
+LegitimatelyAxeL bahaha im definitely getting them then
Well I can say I've never had issues with peep rotation changing my point of impact even tho I often change my peep height in small amount to find sweet spots causing minor rotation
I just got some pierces the other day. 340 spine, 140 point (the way to go in my opinion for all target shooting) with 1.75 parabolic vanetecs with a couple degrees helical.
I also run:
-Lightspeed 3d's, 100gr point, ice vanes --> awesome arrow for field
-GT Ultralight, 160 point, 2.25 vanetec --> great semi short range fita arrow
-CXL Pro's, 10 point, 2.25 vanetec again--> bug eye busters for field that never let me down
I will jump on head 2 head this weekend if i have time and see if i can give you boys a run for your money. Probably a 50 round :)
+Liam Boyle awesome greg is getting peirse arrows to the same set up as u cant wait to vs u on head to head who do u want to vs first me or greg haha
make it a surprise Jimi ahhaha
Do i take a photo every end??
+Liam Boyle haha sweet will do
Sir, you get me nervous with a knife anywhere near a string. Talking to the camera with the knife next to the string... you touched the string with the knife... I was waiting for cams to go flying. All good.
Lol I have to push my peep with my lips after every shot lol. As long as you push it back to center you should be fine
+Grant Reed ok thanks
Also super glue is very brittle and inconsistent, using low heat melting glue work better and peels off rather than cutting with a razor blade. Bohning Archery makes a low heat glue that is blue that is great for inserts, peeps ect. However, when you melt it from the stick, use a tooth pick to apply it to the peep so your strings don't go up in flames.
+Grant Reed thats a heaps good tip thanks
you spelt height wrong haha
+Nathan Haley haha thanks heaps bro
Also, how much does having the peep twist affect Accuracy because I moved mine up and it twisted a lot, I've been trying to "train" the string by twisting it before every shot because the bow is a week old a few people said it will work, it it worth taking it to a dealer and getting it pressed and straightened?
+Nathan Haley keep trying to twist it for a week and if it dosent hold straight after a week it u will have to put a twist in the string mine is about a 1/4 turn off i just straighten it be for the shot but greg cant stand it if its not dead straight but as long as its straight at full draw thats all that matters i have heard
So it won't affect accuracy even if it's straight at full draw? Would it twist during the shot or would it stay straight
+Nathan Haley that is something me and greg r trying to work out but all the stuff we can find on it says it wont affect it but greg is not convinced
What a bunch of crap.. why would you anchor like that? Take a look at pro's No body is anchoring like that and they do have a twisted d-loop and they shoot with No problems at all. If you dont want movement buy a two finger release and take a look at John Dudleys site to learn propper anchor..,I really dont hope any newbies try to copy you.
+Mr450pro lucky there is know it all's like u who really have no clue to write comments like this dudley teaches to have a knuckle either side of the jaw line and thats what greg is trying to achieve
