Just a heads up, If the brake cleaner contains tetrachloroethylene please dont do this to a hot engine. It creates Phosgene gas at high temperatures and its more lethal than mustard gas with no cure.
Thanks RB. Just the job!
That was very simple and informative, thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
WOW!!!! Thank you So Much for this demonstration!!! It’s exactly what I need!! Now I just have to see if I can find that particular one, preferably. 😊
Ok don’t spray on any wires or electrical parts
That car needs a 65 gallon drum of break cleaner.
Nice tip.
😆😆😆
Lmao
😂😂😂
I would probably avoid rubber boots and hoses as well. Most brake cleaners will eat away at the protective wax on rubber making it deteriorate quicker.
I agree it will eat everything like electric wiring and fluid hoses so it's very delicate to clean the engine block with brake cleaner
That’s what I was thinking..
You should use an degreaser on the hoses!
Use non chlorinated brake cleaner
That is safe?
50:50 Simple Green & water. Let it sit for 15 min or so then wash off
😂😂😂😂
Green???
Woww this is best cleaner. Thank you.
Mahalo Yessah I’m gonna do my truck 🤙🏽
Hope that's the non-flammable type
Thank you brother
Welcome
nice way to destroy rubber hoses , just use steamer gun and tight spots hard to reach areas use long adapter and steam away the oil residue..
Brake cleaner eats rubber. Best thing you can use is WD40, there is also a special WD40 for engine cleaning.
Thanks
Wd40 works wonders. Kinda like duct tape. Vital tools.
i hope ur joking
Wd40 removes motor oil?
@@Mr.Steal-urgal no, WD 40 is grease type of grease thats bad for your engine. its greasy as motor oil WD 40 AINT MADE FOR THAT!!!!
i have a 96 accord and i have a power steering leak and the bottom right side of the engine bay is pretty black, is it okay to spray the alternator with it or should i spray it on a cloth first ?
Don’t spray on any electronics it will kill it
This is magic 🤣
Yo bro, i have a 98 toyo camry. Ool is caked all over by my ignition coils (which both i need to replace) is this safe to use on that??
I would clean that manually don’t spray this near igntion system or on it
I wouldn't recommend spraying highly flammable brake cleaner on the hot exhaust manifold
It would start fire
What about carb cleaner? I have a slow oil leak so what is the safe way to keep the oil from sipping out? Obviously replacing the gasket but on a budget so won’t be able for another 2 months
@@joshuacampodonico6554 I would repair the issue new gasket and then clean it up u don’t want to do this spray thing too much it can destroy electrical components
@RBTheMechanic what about using non flammable brake cleaner? Would it still work?
@@macknumber9break cleaner doesn’t leave any residue what so ever either. Try the non flammable, I’m sure it will do good.
Wow 😮
Yeah
I super know how to do oil changes I was rushing with my 2001 GMC 2500 HD splilt a nice amount of oil on my passenger side smh 😮
Oh darn
So as a woman I asked we spray and walk away or do we wipe it off or spray it off after it cools
Hot engine and engine off spray it no need to wipe and stay / keep spray from electrical components
😊 thanks
@@veloracloud4729 welcome
Using it while it's hot would damage the engine bro, it should be used while it's cold.
That could break the engine head or face whatever it's called there.
Good luck 🤞
No it’s fine
Won't my piping hot engine block crack while spraying that cool brake cleaner on it?
Never happned to me
Thats the question that came into my mind
Your block should be 1000% be able to withstand that lol.
@@sethmcbadkeef1233 Whether its iron or aluminum?
YES! I WOULDN'T RISK IT DUDE! THAT'S AN EXPENSIVE ASS GAMBLE TO DO BASED OFF SOMEONE'S RUclips COMMENT! 😬
I only use citrus orange based engine cleaner .
Ok
Say I have oil residue on my up pipe exhaust. What’s the best way to clean it off without starting a fire?
Use rag if u feel safer
@RBTheMechanic what supost to mean rag?
Will it work on a Alternator ?
U can’t do this on alternator it will die
I clean my engin with car wash and it's easier and completely safe
if you have a engine sitting out of a car wait till peak heat of day and use degreaser.
Ok
You do realise this is a huge fire hazard...?
With engine running yes with engine off no
Just mash the spray button and HOLD IT WIDE OPEN on that hot engine.
She'll eventually light off
I wouldn’t take that advice
Very good cleaning, it'll even clean the insulation from your wires and turn your rubber boots into coal lol.
No I never spray on wiring
What is the name of this product? Please
It’s just parts cleaner keep it away from electrical components wiring and stuff like that that’s all
💯💯💯💯💯💯
Thank you
Dish-tri-booter
is it non chlorinated or chlorinated brake cleaner
Regular
and where might the dissolved dirt go, sir? disappear in thin air? lol
Down and it’s dry falls away
@@RBTheMechanicand lands on the exhaust. Fire ⚠️ hazard! Use compressed air or a degreaser
@@pignapoke6772 ur leaking oil prolly is already landing on exghust
@@RBTheMechanic yea but lil chunky pieces of oil will catch easier. Just think of the last time you bbq chicken. Youre the expert but…
Im lost for a good method i feel ok about. Def not using a hose in my bmw. Ill prob use a degreaser , a dryer vent brush and a microfiber cloth to wipe up. Rest should burn off with no excitement- i hope 🤞
I just pressure wash everything and let it sit for a whole day, after that i spray armor all foam tire shine and BOOM! It leaves them shinny clean. 😂 thank me later.
I seen those come in with issues water damage electrical issues here and there
@@RBTheMechanic thats why you’re supposed to remove the battery at all times & then let it sit for a whole day until the water dries up. Of course if you try to turn it on right away that could damage something, but ive sold tons of cars and I always pressure wash the engines and not once have I ever had a problem nor have I had anyone tell me their cars were actint funny. Water doesn’t do anything to the alternator, or any other parts. And if you pressure wash them with the battery on then chances are you are going to ruin something. Or if you pressure wash the engine while hot, that too will crack the block or do damage. The best results will get you if you let it cool down, remove the battery and let it completely dry. Believe me I’ve been doing this for years.
@@trillmexicanz still water gets in wiring but good luck!!
You should do a video of that!! - Do you have one??
@@sacalvetti no. But I probably should. Not a bad idea. But believe me water does nothing unless you don’t disconnect the battery. But I always remove the battery and let the car rinse and dry itself in about 24 hours.
make sure to wear a mask guys when using brake cleaner that shit toxic af
Yes
Did he even say what cleaner?🤣
Parts brake cleaner
Can i use it on the alternator
Noooooooooooooooooooooo BIG NOOOO
it works wonders in alternators and distributors
@@PanamaPete no ways do t put this on alternator or any other electron
@@PanamaPete 🤣
