      @@countbleck35 Plovdiv mix is horrible, drums way too loud, and guitar way too low. Performance is equal imo. That's why I would always recommend the RAH version for "newcomers" over the Plovdiv one.

    For the humor, I'll never forget going to his concert for Strapping Young Lad that ended up on DVD, where he introduced "Aftermath" as being dedicated to his favorite school subject, social studies, because it was after math. He always used silly puns.

    You can't go wrong with Devin. I absolutely LOVE watching these people who've never heard Devin before experience him for the first time. It's amazing for them to go into a song like this and hear the opening riff and you can tell they're immediately judging him and expected this mean and nasty metal song, and then Devin just bitch slaps them in the face with his ungodly stellar vocals and they immediately realize just how amazing this man is. He is a true living legend and a treasure to music everywhere. My all time favorite musician. I could listen to nothing but Devin the rest of my life and have every single genre itch I get be scratched by a single artist. Not many people can say something like that. #DevinIsMyGawd

    I always think it's funny how most folks react to his vocals with this video, when it's original intent was to show off his guitar tone using EMG pickups (it's the EMG Pickups channel). But his vocals are amazing, and though he has lots of overdubs happening, his vocals are live. Which is pretty impressive.

And we got to see the royal albert hall zilltoid show for another anniversary too. He has never disappointed and the shows have always been the kind you compare everyone else too. This is my Devin's absolutely song by far.
    I don't want to make any mistakes, but long time ago, I read something like that Devin was under cure because of his borderline syndrome.
    Due to his so-quickly-changing behaviour, Devin's fiancee was really afraid, and she was almost quitting Devin...so he composed this masterpiece, in order to regain his beloved; as you can see, Devin's saying:"Baby please, there is no warning, I'm fine", just because he was taking medicines and he was trying to get well...something that would have been impossible without his beloved beside him, maybe.
    Tnx so much for your appreciation of this song.

    ...as for the pedals... Since EMG ist this massive guitar pickup manufacturer, tjis song is actually not to demo his vocal abilities at all but the massive guitar sounds he creates by using these pickups. The pedals play their part in creating the sound, bit there is so much more to the wall of sound he creates.
    Hence also the ironic comment to the "most epic guitar solo in EMG history". Most other EMG videos are about shredding or noodling by the respective featured guitarist (which he coukd have done as well), but you gotta love Devins humor... :D

  • @ZeitdiebX
    @ZeitdiebX 5 лет назад

    Unnecessary to mention this now, a month or more after you’ve watched this, that mid song, when that sweet, ethereal, almost feminine quality was present in his performance.... that was not Devin but a pre-recorded sound layer from his band and the female voice was Anneke van Giersbergen, his live sidekick and herself a top notch singer. Devin just added riffs and a few guitar layers and of course his unique voice talent to it for the studio live performance. That is what the maestro is known for. The wall of sound. Adding sound layer upon layer upon layer until the music has almost psychological impact on you... you noticed it right away when you stopped for the second time. There’s so much going on. His level of control. Great reaction, Valerie. Thank you so much.

    Welcome to the world of Devin Townsend :) All his music has his name on it, but he's not actually a one man band though. This is a video from EMG tv. EMG is a company which makes pickups for guitars and they have artists who they endorse come on to play through some songs, with backing tracks of the actual song, minus what they are playing in the video. String companies and guitar companies do the same, so it's usually just one member of the band. A quick search on youtube and you'll find him with his full band. As someone said below, the song Deadhead live at the Albert Hall is amazing. His band are top notch too. Nice video, keep it up. Cheers!

    I feel the need ot clarify that the "all those layers" were just a simple backing track that he didn't control in any way. He's not a one-man-band and the playback has nothing to do with the pedals. "All the pedals" are just his guitar pedal board. Most of them were unused in this performance, because you don't assemble a board for a single song. It's a more longterm setup.

    Devin sees sound in color, he is a synesthetic. You need to listen to the triple play Funeral, Bastard and Death of Music live at Royal Albert Hall

    The sound from the video is not at the same quality as the original. You re-record the sound using your mic? You should route directly to recording software

    ...why can't all the voice teachers in the world join a queue to react to this version of Devy doin' Kingdom and get it all over and done with all at once?
    ...I'd like to see Devy react to Devy - now that I'd watch...

    ok.. so all those pedals are just for his guitar sound. except for the whay pedal that did the whay sound during his tremendous guitar solo.. So he trolls that solo.. but Actually he is a guitar virtuoso . Hes not a great guitar player.. its levels above that. Anyways nice reaction and analysis of his vocals. They are amazing for sure. His song writing is also tremendous. He has many albums under different genres. He is easily one of the greatest musicians walking this planet that people dont know about.
