Why Van life isn’t for me & may not be for you either.
In this video, I’m going to explain why Van life isn’t for me and why it may not be for you either. I discovered after going on a two week trip in my minivan camper van that living in a van would not be something that I would like to do. I am going to name 11 reasons why I have no desire to live in my minivan and these may be things that you haven’t really thought of yourself. So I pray that this video will enlighten you and help you to make your decision as to whether you wanna move into a minivan full-time or not.
First reason- Van life has been over romanticized by RUclips makers. Showing their van by an ocean, showing their van by some beautiful stream somewhere does not depict the reality of what van life truly is.
Second reason, very limited living space on the inside of a minivan you only get 4‘ x 8‘ of actual living space in a minivan which means you have to spend all of your time outside.
 third reason the cost of living in your minivan. Gas prices are through the roof and that’s going to add to the cost of living in your minivan.
Four reason is whether. Since we live outside of our minivans all the time and not inside if you’re caught in a rainstorm that lasts for days, you’re now stuck inside your minivan and if you’re living in a place that super dusty like quartzite now you’re living with mud all around you. so how are you? Gonna keep yourself clean the inside of your van clean when you have dirt flying around you all the time.
 four reason is the dirt factor it’s gonna be constantly inside your van and it’s gonna get into your food and get into your sheets and get into your clothing and that’s nothing that I really want to experience as a person living in a minivan. That’s one of the reasons I choose not to.
Reason five laundry. Your dirty your clothes every day they’ve got to go into a bag. You have to hang onto that bag until you take it to a laundromat, which is filthy dirty most of the time. Your clothes are stinking inside that bag. And taking up space in your minivan that is already precious space.  and the cost of doing laundry has gotten really expensive.
Fifth reason for not wanting to live in my minivan or mechanical failures I was out of my minivan for three months because I had a mechanical failure and I didn’t have the money saved up to fix it. If you’re in a minivan and you’re living in it what are you gonna do when you have a mechanical breakdown that you may have to wait months to even get it into a shop to get it fixed. or what if your window falls into your door like mine did and all of your safety features are blown because your window won’t close.
Sixth reason safety I don’t feel safe in my minivan when I was out on the road for those two weeks whether I was staying in a rest, stop or staying in a paid campsite or trying to find a place to park in the middle of the forest. Safety is a factor and I would prefer to be in a home where I don’t have to think about being safe all the time that can be very stressful and way on you and cause illness and all kinds of things because of the stress. 
Seven reason parking that’s always an issue trying to find a place to park if you’re not out in BLM land or in a national forest which you have to move every two weeks there. If you’re in city dwelling or urban dwelling, then you’re gonna have to be moving all the time to find a place to stay. What are you gonna do during the day when you live in a city to occupy your time inside your minivan if it’s super hot outside, you can’t be in your minivan when it’s that hot so you gotta go plant yourself at a park And spend the day there is not appealing to me.
Reason number eight what if you have some medical emergency that happens and you’re gonna be out of commission for a while maybe have to do a hospital stay what are you gonna do if you’re living in a van or living in a minivan where are you gonna put that van, which is your house which has everything in it while you’re in the hospital.
Reason number nine essential things that we need to live water and electricity. You can only carry so much water in your van because it’s all it not only takes up space but it’s also heavy and will cost you more gas money if you’re carrying around a lot of water. Electricity how are you gonna power everything? What if you have rainy days for days on end and you don’t have enough power to you know charge your batteries with. there’s a lot to think about when it comes to living in a van that a lot of people are not telling you on RUclips that are sitting in front of an ocean somewhere.
Reason number 10 storage space is very limited. Which means you cannot own very many clothes. You have to limit what you cook with you have to limit what your entertainment is in your van you have to limit everything inside a minivan or in a van..
