Tahoe - South Lake has a great campsite that is centrally located, close to all amenities and right across the road from the lake. Best summers. Or if you end up going the opposite direction, Capital Reef Utah, Escalante wilderness, Zion. Grab some elevation if it's hot. Whole zone is the most beautiful area in the US. Then if you ever get a chance in mid summer go to Kalispell Montana, Glacier Lake and the Going to the Sun Road trip. Mind boggling. Make sure and go to Sykes for coffee and dinner.

There are so many ridiculous videos of people being super cozy during snowy weather, as if most us live on Everest’s peak.
This is not how to live in an rv. I lived for 18 months in an rv park by disneyland. staying put is key.

I said last summer would be my very LAST summer in Texas: it seems like the older I get (I’m almost 65), the harder these hot summers are to endure. But here I am, going into July, still in Dallas, Texas. 😭

I ran an outdoor camping Park on lake Travis outside of Austin for 8 years. I'm now in the Western carolinas. I got so tired of that heat. So glad to be out of texas. I miss certain things. Gulf Coast seafood. Flowers on the highway. Seeing longhorns. I don't miss the heat. Go somewhere that it rains.

Arizona here and I just hate, hate, hate our summers. I love sitting outside on my porch and this time of year, I am instead trapped inside with all the blinds and curtains shut and left living in the dark until sept.

I feel your heat! We leave Phoenix every summer 110* is my personal limit. We are currently in Montana. We have been using propane to keep warm at night! I’ll send you directions if you need them.

Good for you! I head to N NM's snowcapped mountains fir a comfortable 70° when the thermometer in the TX Panhandle hits 100° for 3 days in a row. I come back to mow my grass, pay my bills and head right back to NM.
No way in hell am I adding more heat to 90°, not even for one second. Stove is off limits June - Oct, this year it moved up a month bc we hit 100°F in May.

There is a clear and colourless window film made by Corning that is advertised as blocking 90% of solar gain - might be something to consider
The guy testing it was very impressed - the installer said everyone always think they need a dark tinted window film but in reality, those do very little to prevent solar gain
I’m from Corning New York. They make great products. The future is Glass if I were you, I’d buy the stock as well. :-)
I LOVE our mirrored film. We can see our but cannot see in except in the dark with the lights on. Not sure if it is legal everywhere on every window in an RV. Not as dark

I was in California. It was 114. My dog almost died. We moved to New Mexico. It is in the 90’s here. Feels better in the shade with the wind blowing.
I lived in Phoenix for years. I survived the 121 degrees and vowed I would never live in the valley again. I moved to the mountains of California, 7000 feet above everyone. Perfect

About 7 years ago, I was driving on that same interstate and my air conditioning was not working on my car. It was 120 degrees and so hot that I could nor hardly touch the steering wheel. I found a metal about 20 miles off the interstate and just died in the motel room with the air conditioning working. So, I fully understand how you guys are feeling.

Girl, you a better woman than me! I have a studio apartment and when it's just in the 90s outside, my burner is not being turned on at any point! It's either something that can be microwaved or a big hearty salad with precooked meat. But we are the same in that no matter how hot I am, I'm still starting the day with a hot cup of coffee!

I’m in North Carolina and it has been 93 degrees for days. I couldn’t imagine what 117 degrees feels like. I’m going to have to take a NC mountain trip soon. Love you two!
Your campsite in the mountains is beautiful. In the evening you can have a little campfire.
We live at 6500 feet elevation, but it still gets in the 90's. If we drive up to Skyline at about 8000 ft elevation and it so much cooler!! You two are so cute.
Fun fact-
COLD CREEK is right past mt Charleston turn off. Cold creek stays 20/25 degrees cooler than the Vegas valley . And is blm land so up to 14 days free camping. 😊

I wanted to recommend a book I just read, Into Thin Air, by Jon Krakauer. It’s a telling of the 1996 expedition to Mount Everest, which because of a freak storm, led to disaster for a number of the hikers. It’s very well written and it has earned its spot on the bestseller list. It’s wonderful narrative nonfiction. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I remember the summer that first came out in an edition of Outside Magazine. We only had one copy between the 3 of us and I remember stealing it from one another because none of us could put it down

I grew up with summers of 120 F and once you go over 100 F it is just plain hot as hell.
I totally can relate. I live in Arizona where it was 120 degrees fahrenheit last summer, many days. When it cooled off and I felt a change in the air, I was the happiest girl in the world.

I’ve lived in an 1985 Pace Arrow in AZ during summer time 110 degrees and the A/C could not keep up and the Refrigerator as well. So I had to use a foam ice chest. It’s impressive to see your A/C able to lower your inside temp to 81. Maybe because you have a smaller RV and today’s RVs have better A/C units and insulation?! Btw great decision to head for the mountains! 👍🏻🥵

I live in phoenix....I bought land in Apache County Az...Just left it was 85, sunny, raining, just beautiful....When I get tired of the heat..I just drive up north...On my own land...!...Land is cheap still in northern Az....

Ooeee, I do not cook in hot weather. Sandwiches + salads only. You are dedicated! I also melt in hot weather.
I would advise you to carry a mobile AC unit when the main goes down. You won`t be suffering. Units run from $ 400 to $ 500.

It's been 95°F here in Kentucky with 100% humidity which is worse than what some of y'all are dealing with!! Anyway, even if you plug in..if you're not under a shade tree it doesn't help much!! So try and stay cool!!✌🐢

We live in Henderson, a few miles from Vegas, and yes, it is hot. I am sort of regretting getting rid of our above ground pool and installing synthetic turf, LOL.
Ugh it’s 101 where I am, I can’t deal with this heat, I’m a northern transplant. I will never get use to the southern heat! I can’t even begin to fathom 113-116F…..I’m happy when it is 45-55F!!!

I feel your pain with the heat, I'm in west Phoenix, AZ area, I am having electrical issues, been flipping a switch in my breaker box going on 3wks, every day, starting when it hits 95-100 (it's gotten to 115 already) out, I have to flip a popped switch every 5-10 minutes until it gets down to about 90-95. It sucks because, first, I'm handicap with a bad hip and whole left leg. Second, the only thing I've got running since this started is my ac, exhaust fan in the restroom, and my refrigerator. No tv, no radio. Using my cell flashlight. I also have fur babies, two dogs, they've been really good. If I have to leave my house(my RV), I leave by 7am, and get back by 8:30/9am. For me, it's a whole thing until I can get it fixed. 🥵

Great video. The heat is the thing that keeps us from getting an RV. I get so nervous bc of our cats. Their body temps are much higher than humans and can overheat so quickly. I would be heartbroken if that happened. I am glad you able to keep them cool.
Yay! We had a similar idea the other weekend to escape the heat and went up to Lee Canyon for the first time since moving to Vegas and the caretaker let us drive through the loop to take a look at the camp grounds. What to our surprise, we saw Desert Snow and Dave hanging outside as we left the loop. We didn't want to bug ya or say anything until you posted a video to help keep your privacy/safety. But what a fun coincidence. And the weather was BEAUTIFUL up there. like 35F cooler. It was a lovely drive up.
Now we know how it all works with the even/odd campsites, and cash or check only we plan to go up on a few overnighters very soon. Especially how hot it will be in the next couple of weeks.

El Paso hit 109 last week. We were expecting 106 most of this week but a storm is heading our way and temps to drop to the high 80s/low 90s for a couple of days, then back up to 104 or so.
We were thinking about going to Inn of the Mountain Gods in Mescalero, New Mexico but unfortunately it is by Ruidoso, NM and they are battling 2 forest fires right now, evacuating the area. It's pretty bad. It's about 120 miles from El Paso. Hoping the incoming rain will help.🙏
