Today, Cuervo Negro and I camp in the beautiful Organ Mountains of New Mexico. We roast up some trout, drink some beers, I wake up cuddled next to a centipede.

"With My Eyes Closed." Cuervo KILLED me with that one! I had TEARS from laughing so hard!
When I was young, I only slept on the ground in a sleeping bag, or on a blanket. In my late teens and early 20's, I slept on a foam pad with a poncho over me if bad weather. In my later 20's, I started sleeping in a small tent. In my 40's, I got a big canvas tent, then sold that and bought a rooftop tent. Now, in my later 50's, a travel trailer is looking pretty good.
Get something with a propane furnace in it. And a propane fridge.
Furnace or campers/van that are older than 20 needs new replacement hose routed from propane tank to furnace / gas fired water heater and 3-way refrigerator. Just a safety thing because the gas line do because brittle after a time. Causing natural gas leak or fire hazards.
The trout is leathery the mashed potatoes are runny but thank God the beers ice cold👍🍻

Cooking trout in the desert just messes with my mind. Slicing spam with a Bowie is the definition of overkill. Doing hand to hand to hand to hand combat with a centipede. These are the things that make a camping trip memorable.🇨🇦

those things are no joke. if you're not a desert rat like us take a look at Brave wilderness' video about the giant desert centipede. they're the only bug out here that makes me nervous.
The only thing i hate about yalls videos is when you break down camp😢 that means the video is over sniff sniff sniff

Yup, the fish was probably over cooked… but I’m sure it tasted great with the Coors! Best time to season food is before you cook it. A little salt if you need it at the end.

Spam, Right on. I usually have a fried spam sandwich as one of my camping meals.
Love the overnight videos getting out to recharge the battery is a great way to do it. I cowboy camped once woke up with a coyote at my feet. Stay safe my friends and keep exploring

Great outing. No way I could sleep in the open. The centipede is a prime example. It is said they will not crawl into your mouth when you are sleeping. But hey. I don’t want to prove that out. Great coffee. Great food. I’d like to check out that area of NM. Thanks for sharing.
I like to make fresh trout a faster and easy way. It takes about ten minutes. All you need is some aluminum foil, butter, salt and pepper. You just fit the trout to a foil pouch; place a slice of butter stick lengthwise inside the trout. If you like, also add some onion inside as well. You just lay the sealed pouch at the edge of the fire coals. Turn it once about halfway thru the cooking time of 15-minutes. It takes slightly longer for large fish.
This also works making baked potatoes that take about 45-minutes. I make extra and use them for making morning home fries. The same cooking process works for quail, Doves and chicken breasts. I made meatloaf and beef roasts using the same process. It also works for any fresh vegetables. It also is a good idea to freeze all your food you carry in hot weather.
I freeze the butter and it stays hard in a thermos or soft cooler a long time. You also can freeze water in bottles and it saves weight in your pack and cooler leaving more room for Beer and food. It is much easier and less of a mess to deal with. 👍
Potato can be baked "as is": you just put a potatos in ashes under your fire for about 40 minutes.
You need a thick layer of ashes. It can be produced with a big quantity of small branches in no time.
Potato is ready if you can puncture it with a thin wooden stick or knife. You just peel it's covered with ashes skin out then your potato is good to go with fish, meat or anything else you got. 🙂
You may call it "potato with smoke". 😎

Hey James spam is always one of our go to meal I always keep a can handy in my car kit. And this morning I made Me and my Son some spam & eggs also but I cube it up cook the spam first add some diced jalapeños then add the scramble eggs mixture add cook it up. Makes perfect breakfast burritos. Me and the wife enjoy your vlogs watched today well enjoying my spam & eggs tacos with my cup of joe. Nice and easy camp out guys, enjoyed the sights and sounds. Fish looked tasty cooked over the fire and cold brew is mandatory😉 The pop open shelter is probably not the best option for that type of terrain, the "guest" could have been much worse. Spam done right is pretty good actually, just slice and boil for 5-8min to rid of excessive salt, from there you can cook it how ever you want(sauce or not). I'm actually gonna sleep in a tent finally next weekend. I usually don't camp because of ticks but I'll sit up all night catfishing all the time then walk home when the sun comes up. I have slept on my parents back porch a few times in the spring/fall before the ticks come out.
My dad has the deer tick disease so I try to avoid them

hola amigos, you had good food once again, i would have added some valentina myself to everything, but that just me. if your little pan is carbon steel you should season it so your food wont stick to it so bad, if it is just stainless steel you jus s.o.l. on the food sticking. keep up the good work amigos and have great day

I have noticed that some of Cuervo Negro's song have titles that sound Native American like Grandfather Bear's Story. Also Cuervo carries prayer items and a small pouch around his neck containing items special to him. Is Cuervo part Native American or was he raised around an indigenous culture? Another great video!
