I believe that in the US, Christmas in July was an idea started by fabric and craft stores. It was a way to boost summer sales by encouraging customers to purchase materials for Christmas gifts and decorations early, to get a head start and not be rushing around trying to finish projects at the last minute.
Thanks for that, I think that’s a reasonable idea - I always end up finishing my home-made gifts well after midnight on Christmas Eve for lack of forethought!
I had my 70th birthday yesterday and today my head has turned to Christmas. Just like that ! I want to make at least 10 of my christmas cards. By make I mean paint. I shall also be cracking on with Christmas bunting. Christmas is not for everyone but it puts me in my happy place, so why not start early! 🎄🎅🎄🤗
Love this! I am thinking of Christmas also! Tamsin losing her blankie episode was terrible for her. But kids love clinging to their comfort item you know! I have mine...a doll that will be 80 years old this Christmas. She is in good condition and has survived many surgeries (body is cloth, head a hard composite as well as the hands and feet). She wears a sweet little white baby dress. No one wants her so when I die, she will do down with me!

I cut big butterfly shapes out of black paper and let my grandchildren (ages 4,6,8) paint on them with my Kuretake gold set of paints. They had so much fun and the butterflies were beautiful. Anyway, I like your golden Christmas ornaments on black paper. I'll have to try that. Happy Christmas in July, Diane!!
I've dove the gold and silver on dark paper which looks very nice! I gave you lot's of hearts on the previous comment because I didn't think it was working! LOL ❤

Yes, and realistically I’m not a very Christmas person either. I like to do the traditional things near the time at home (put up a crib, make Christmas puddings and cake, wrap gifts just before Christmas Day etc) but I don’t personally send cards any more and we never socialise because we are so remote where we live.
Before I watched your channel, I had never heard the phrase, “Bob’s your uncle”. With the sound of your voice, it seems to mean “and there you have it.” Is that correct? It makes me laugh every time you say it as it’s so goofy sounding. And I am trying to picture Bob in my head. Thanks again for a delightful video, Diane.
If you have the Kuretake set of six gold colour paints, you will find that the first pan is “blue gold” and I actually think it’s a good description. Also, I’m a quilter and. Christmas in July is a big thing for buying your Christmas fabrics, and, theoretically , giving yourself plenty of time to get those Christmas presents made. I’m living proof that I’ll buy the fabric in July and still be starting to make a quilt December 1st. Thank you for the video.

Yes, it is called Blue Gold but I still can’t see why that makes sense! It’s not blue!!
but, it has a bluish undertone, the same as the red gold has a reddish undertone.
