This is loyalty to the cartoon though, not just the source material. The end of the last episode of the original X-Men cartoon this is directly a continuation of showed that he was not dead, so nothing was rolled back or retconned, as least not within this show itself.
i love the shi'ar empire shenanigans in the comics so i had a completely different take on this episode. What I like about the more space adventure side of x-men storytelling is it expands the types of stories you can tell with and about the x-men. One thing I've found adaptations get bogged down in is mutans vs. humans or mutants vs. evil mutant stories so when I got in to the comics I was pleasantly surprised that they do other things and explore different settings. But nonetheless I'm glad to hear from someone with a completely different take from me.
Even taking into consideration nothing will touch the previous episode in terms of impact, I actually liked this one. I didn't mind the Shi'arnanigans. For me it gave Charles a life (literally) beyond his life on Earth. And I did like how even in a supposedly more advanced civilization, he faces the same the problems he faces on Earth. Deathbird literally putting Ronan under her stiletto'd boot slayed. As well as stirring up prejudice within the Senate mirroring our own politics. I liked the thematic parallels of both stories. - Leaders being tempted by a normal life away from the mutant struggle. - Powerful women reconciling the perfect image of themselves vs the flawed people they are. - Colonialism being inherent in the Shi'ar Empire but rarely touched upon or at all in the comics linked to Forge and Storm's lived experiences. - Both Charles and Ororo regaining their inner strength and identity (as Teacher and Goddess) before being cruelly reminded that the universe has other plans for them. And honestly I was laughing for serval minutes after Charles revealed himself to be a Sub Pup...
i think that is subjective because storm losing her powers then seeing her be afraid of the very thing she used to have control over so well broke me more than any other episode 2nd was magneto's speech for me at the U.N. 😅
I think what Charles will bring is the thene if "You can never go home again". He will return assuming everything is as it was before to find that his students actually has moved on, that they don't need him anymore. So the "I don't care about Charles" will be shared by the X-men. And what this will do with Charles ego will be the point and quite an interesting one.
Wind-down episodes, breather episodes. It’s why Fractured exists between Betrayal and Aftershocks. It’s the purpose Roadside Attraction serves before Dipper and Mabel vs. the Future and Weirdmageddon (though I’m still confused why they’re leaving the house they just put a protection spell on that was supposed to be for them too)
I thought the reason Xavier’s death was forged was because his recovery where he was taken was going to take too long for there not to be suspicion, but he was going to come back
The original series did tell original stories. Like, as examples, everything revolving around Morph was made completely for the show, Mr. Sinister's backstory episode wasn't from the comics and the excellent "One Man's Worth" two-parter wasn't a direct adaptation of anything.
i was distracted in a bad way. like moments earlier forge was dying in the cave and then shes just flying around whimsically while im thinking "uh you gonna go grab forge? he could be dying while youre busy having fun..."
I agree with the judgement of Xaviars story. As someone who doesn't remember anything about the old story and his death, I would have preferred to have like some explanation how he was whisked away and revived. Not just "somehow we brought him back". Which had me as well wondering if he had his fling before he died? Or did she just went "Yeah, that bald guy looks cute, let's see if I can resurrect him"? Plus there was strange stuff like the sister being unable to wait like a hot minute. It wasn't like Charles took ages to decide. Well, hoping the next episode will be better.
Looking for things to like: Deathbird is very entertaining here, it's tough to care about alien races (they were barely in the 90s show so I'm guessing for most viewers these are brand new characters), but at least we get Deathbird reading everyone to filth. Storm gets the second Sailor Moon magical girl transformation of the series after Maddie into the Goblin Queen. Great to see her original 1975 character design animated (last seen in Spider Man and his Amazing Friends). But it feels like they've got all their pieces on the board for whatever they're planning for the second half of the season.
I was with you (especially with Xavier) until 12:07 - I'll give three main examples: 1) *Final Decision.* The Season One finale was the part three to Days of Future Past that the comics never had. Easily one of the strongest episodes in the show too. 2) *Time Fugitives.* A Cable/Bishop story that was so good that the comics would later adapt it themselves. 3) *Beyond Good and Evil.* A multi-part Apocalypse story that was his best in the whole show. To be fair, the worst adaptation the original show did was Phalanx Covenant. Because it removed all stakes and context from the source material. Bearded Magneto looked cool though. The storyline they are adapting for Charles, as you say, wasn't interesting in the first place. It's interesting for them to portray the Shi'ar in a non-benevolent light for a change. Most X-Men media doesn't. A case of _"Well as the allies to the X-Men, they aren't as evil as the Badoon/Skrulls/Kree"_ ..Except the Shi'ar are constantly at odds with all of the above for supremacy. Also wiped out Jean Grey's entire bloodline out of fear of them becoming another Phoenix host. This hasn't been retconned. I knew they were going to short change Lifedeath. Considering the original conclusion to the story is the sacrifice of the entire team to defeat The Adversary. But two fifteen minute segments for one of Storm's most life changing stories, is a disservice to that source material. I do hope Gambit stays dead (replaced in credits by Nightcrawler). Cable did say "not again". Like this was an event he has repeatedly tried and *failed* to stop.
My unpopular opinion: I adore Storm but I would have liked a different storyline for her personally. It felt like they only took away her powers for plot purposes. Her relationship with Forge also feels pretty rushed. Love the classic design, though.
I think you might be in the minority of opinion on this one. While i wasnt exactly aching for Charles to return, it was good to see him. Especially in the later half of the episode to see him being PROFESSOR Xavier. I thought it not only connected really well to Storms story of finding herself and her power again to have Xavier return to his roots as well. A teacher first and foremost. Especially with Xavier making the subtext of colonization and assimilation into TEXT. And as for Pacing, we could only do the genosha reveal once, to both characters roughly together. To have one first and the other second wouldnt give us the heights of Storm and Xavier only to bring us back down hard to the events on Genosha. If we got them as separate episode chunks it wouldnt have flowed together as well. We wouldnt be able to get lost in the episode at hand to get sucker punched by the vision and the news later. This episode would not hit as well for me without the heights of 'Let them thunder, For I AM LIGHTNING' or the lows of "they were dancing! Drinking wine! Making love!! My children of the atom, destroyed!!'. Next episode is going to be following the events on the ground in genosha so that sentiment to take us out of the episode was absolutely necessary for me
I get your points. I did like focusing more with Storm, plus I love her new look. The only time I liked the cosmic stuff was in Marvel's Ultimate Alliance as it was mentioned and needed for that game. I totally forgot about Charles so I understand your opinion on him. Still good video
I agree with you for the most part. My main problem with the Charles story, though, is that the show treated him as stone-cold dead for five episodes. I've since learned that he was beamed up at the end of the last episode of the original show, but no one mentioned that (as far as I can remember) in this show. So when he suddenly popped up (walking in a suit of space armor, even), it was just such a weird 180 out of nowhere. I knew none of the characters except for him, but apparently he's now a space king-to-be or something? That whole plot made absolutely no sense whatsoever, nor did it have any time to actually become anything important. As soon as my head had begun to slow its wild spinning, he was off to Earth again. Presumably leaving the Shi'ar Empire (or whatever they were called) behind. It was ridiculously inside baseball. To understand anything that was going on, you either had to have seen the original kids show - which, let's remember, is almost 30 years old now - or have read some very specific X-Men cartoons that are even older than that. If you hadn't, nothing made sense whatsoever. I liked the Storm story more, but it too was very rushed. I feel like this entire season has felt incredibly rushed, but they somehow made it work in ep5 despite it being the busiest episode by far.
@tariqthomas9090 well exactly but with bringing Charles back, they can portray him as some evil psycho with whom professor need to reason. Which would be a big shame for the series
So, I personally enjoyed the Storm half of the episode, it was a fun breather and I loved seeing her face her fears and grow from them. Also, seeing Forge cast magic was probably one of the hottest things in the show so far, imo. But every time Charles was on screen I kept thinking, "they killed off Magneto to make space for this preachy, condescending, know-it-all." Also, I have minimal knowledge of the comics and had no idea who those alien people were, so I spent half the time wondering what was going on, lolz. Legally distinct superman was cool tho
I liked this episode. I liked that they didn’t immediately try to top episode 5. In the grand scheme of things, so far in ‘97, there’s been little cosmic shenanigans, even with this episode, so it wasn’t so off putting for me. And the episode serves as the impetus to get Xavier back to the X-Men, but I hope we don’t get too much more space stuff. You’re right, the X-Men have more than enough to deal with on Earth and this plotline is roughly when I bowed out of reading the comics.
I agree with a lot of what you said, I think they should have just switched the charles part and put it with the montendo episode. Maybe not show gambit but show something affecting Xavier that causes him a lot of pain and end the episode on that cliffhanger. We wouldn't know when or where it happens, so either your surprised or your anticipating whats going to happen in ep 5. There's no point in splitting up an episode like they did if it's going to be the length of one episode. Storm might be my favorite x-men character or at the worst top 3, but I couldn't really care much this episode. unlike you, I have no affection for her and Forge as a couple, I'm sure the fans of the ship were happy, but when I started reading comics it always looked like a onesided 'nice guy' crush that turned me off of them. And the quickness that we're supposed to believe they're a couple or at least getting there kind of killed any buzz I have for her having an episode. The whole plot was rushed, made worse by them splitting up a regular length episode in half and separating those halves by a week
Considering Cable and Bishop are in this season I assume this is a bad timeline and they'll save Genosha with time travel. Fans: excited to see who's behind the Sentinel attack! Is it Nimrod? Cassandra? Bastion? oh... it's Sinister. Angy man with funny cloak is back.
Solicits made it crystal clear that Sinister was the big bad of this season. I would like to see Bastion though. Nimrod has been done. Cassandra Nova isn't necessary. By taking Trask and Gyrich off the table. Bastion makes sense as the replacement.
everything with Charles and his star crossed romance stuff. Like it or not have the best dialogue throughout the whole episode and the most memorable. nothing dialogue wise within the forge storm storyline was memorable. Milky Way ghetto for the win.
I kinda feel the same way you did about this episode. I loved the Storm and forge stuff, kinda felt meh about the Xavior and cosmic stuff. I dont have AS much of a connection to the original X-Men '94 show as alot of other people do. Sure, I watched it growing up, but Batman TAS, Power Rangers, Spider-man, yeah, they all took priority. I dont remember seeing the end of X-Men like I did with all those other shows. I think I remember apokolypse being the biggest threat and then, that never getting resolved. That said, I've been enjoying X-Men '97 and, yeah, like I said earlier, the Cosmic stuff isn't that great. I loved the lecture Xavior was giving, I felt like we as a species could learn a thing or two from that considering our own imperialism was...well lets be honest, probably the inspiration for that. But yeah, outside of that I found the cosmic stuff very boring.
I am mixed in my response to this episode and to your response to it. First off, Lifedeath: fully agree, if this Ororo/Forge storyline is all there is to Lifedeath (I haven't read the source, so can't base it off that, though they obvious do change things), then it should've just been mashed together into one big episode rather than split into 2 (I also would've liked a little more of Forge & Storm between their meeting at a bar and Lifedeath Pt 1, even just a quick throwaway scene that deepens their connection). I think the main reason Lifedeath is split this way is the 2 stories it is paired with, particularly the first: the Motendo bit was half an episode they wanted to do but couldn't pair it with anything else, mostly due to time but I'd also assume that doing Motendo after episode 5 would've also been a tonal issue (also, the Magneto stuff wouldn't work). I was a little surprised to see them bring back Charles but not because I thought he was dead - I remembered that the original series ended with him leaving with Lilandra, not dying, so I was always more confused about him being referred to as dead, wondering if something had changed - but because I just thought he'd be someone who wouldn't show up until the season finale, at earliest, after the X-Men have to face their toughest trial on their own. I think the Charles/Lilandra stuff probably could've been stretched to a full episode (it felt too rushed for me, but also oddly reiterative for being so rushed) but they likely didn't have the episode count they wanted to spare that (the only way to do so would mean cutting Motendo entirely, I assume). I don't hate Charles/Lilandra or the Shiar stuff, but it is far from my favourite. That said, I think certain cosmic stuff really works for the X-Men (see: most of the Mars and SWORD stuff from the Krakoa era), and it is funny to see Charles' love is the head of a supremacist expansionist empire (who seems to kind of hate that part of the empire, but can't/won't do enough to change that). Much as I love Gambit, I generally agree he should stay dead. The one way I can see it working is if they follow the storyline where he becomes Apocalypse's Horseman Death, but even then I would want that held for at least a second season rather than within the next few episodes. Resurrections need to come at a high cost, either to the person, their friends, or the world, etc., and it's best that there is a good amount of time after the death before it happens. That's actually why I was so sad (even a bit angry) to see "Resurrection of Magneto" announced so soon after what I thought was a fantastic death for that character. I've just started reading the story, and it has delivered in the 1 issue I've read (Al Ewing is a strong writer, one of the few I'd trust with this), but I'm not ready to say I'm happy with how they handled it. At least Scarlet Witch's murder was designed not to last more than the event, but the way they handled Ms. Marvel's death was horrible on so many levels.
of COURSE Xavier was going to come back. It's comics. But I kind of sagged a little when he appeared on screen. Like Vera, I think the story has been better because of his absence and it's a crying shame they chose to bring him back so quickly - maybe this episode could have happened at the end of the season, teasing his return for season 2? The timelines could still have lined up - his return still being triggered by the Genosha massacre - but have his actual arrival put off for a bit to allow the X-men themselves to deal with the fallout. Also, I'm pretty ambivalent about the cosmic stuff in general, but i do feel that introducing it now is fighting against the theme of the series so far.
So Xavier is hanging out with space Nazis but it's okay because he's going to change them from the inside? Or was anyway until he decided that his adult children still need him to hold their hands.
I agree about letting Xavier be "dead" until he's missed. The show and the character dynamics were really interesting without him. Plus, he just shows up in space like it's no big deal; there's no grand reveal to the audience that he's alive or anything. I mean, if you're going to bring him back, at least wait and have him show up at the end of the final episode of the season.
Yeah maybe Charles getting reintroduced should have happened after we checked back in at the mansion and saw how the Xmen are doing, maybe show that they are a bit directionless and that they really miss Xaiver so that we might miss Xaiver, then bring him back.
I liked the stuff involving Storm at least. The cosmic storyline felt very “detoury.” And the fact that Charles is back doesn’t feel right, even if it was hinted that Charles would return in the final episode of the OG X-Men show. Despite the nostalgia goggles I have for the 90s cartoon, I do wish they would stray further from being too close to the comics for this reboot.
The Xavier thing really caught me off guard. Did they even explain how he's not dead anymore? Or why he's in space? None of that part made sense to me at all.
Yes, in the final episode of the original series. He was never dead. There was an assassination attempt and the X-Men contacted Lillandra because they thought Shi'ar technology would be the only way to save his life and she came to take him to space and they were like Charles may never be able to return to earth. The logistics of the X-Men telling people on earth the assassination attempt was successful is the thing that wasn't explained
@@JohnBainbridge0 honestly I was totally thrown off in the first few episodes. Everyone seemed to be treating it like they all actually thought Professor X was really dead even like when Scott and "Jean" were talking in private about him in one of the first two episodes. Like they weren't 100% certain that he would survive but it was very hopeful so I dunno why the X-Men in private never brought up the fact he's probably or at least maybe alive in space
@@damnrapunzel8130 For myself, I watched the original cartoon when it was on TV and I haven't really watched it since. I hardly remember any of it, so I had no clue what was happening.
I'm with you on this I don't feel like bringing back Xavier was intriguing or something I was looking forward to honestly think they should have waited until the current problem
DeathBird request : Charles isnt ask to give up anything at all ! He is asked to accept to be a part of a family. That s not even the bare minimum required ! Some lost body parts , armies , children. This was supposed to be a simple formality . She is forcing him and asking him just to keep a promise and make a promise. People would kill for such acceptance
The X-Men could be their own little universe, separate from the rest of Marvel - YES! How do you square people going "hate and fear" at the X-Men and being perfectly OK with the FF, Avengers, etc.? It's never really sat right with me, but it's there, so I deal. I kind of liked seeing the Space Bird Jerks (to quote Jay and Miles), if only for Deathbird being amazing, and for the Vulcan cameo. Lifedeath part 2 was the stronger story by miles, and I LOVED how they handled Storm in that story. Also, the reveal of the big bad at the end! I mean, yes, we knew that particular person would be back, but I didn't think they'd tie them into what happened on Genosha. What disappointed me most, though, was seeing Kurt in the opening credit sequence and then NOT in the episode! I like how the opening montage shifts to reflect the roster of the team, and they teased with Nightcrawler, then failed to deliver. He's one of my absolute favorites!
I was stupidly excited to see Nightcrawler in the credits. Also one of my faves. Here's hoping we get more to come. I've always thought having the hypocrisy of the 'hated and feared' X-Men existing alongside FF and The Avengers was sort of the point. Superpowered authority figures are celebrated for maintaining the status quo, but difference is marginalised and there is the fear of being 'replaced' by a minority group which is a big feature of lots of oppressive narratives be they sexist, racist, white supremist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, Islamophobic or Antisemitic.
@@OldManFerdiad I really want Kurt on the team permanently. I get what you're saying about the hypocrisy of the humans in 616, or any Marvel world, but it still feels lop-sided to me, and I feel like that narrative of 'replacement theory' would hit home better if there weren't non-mutant superpowered figures around.
Episode 7 was way worse. The show is simply incapable of sticking with any tough story decisions it takes. As a result nothing seems to have gravitas for me anymore. Every tough decision is undercut an episode or two later. I nean even DBZ didnt cop out as much as X-Men 97. Episode 7 gets so bad that they even slow-mo'd a particular action of Rogue's... just to right away undercut it and remove any/ all gravitas of her decision to take that action. I loved the first 6 episodes but now its like a slog watching this as its hard to take anything seriously cause of the likelihood things well just get undercut a little later.
I think the reason they intercut the stories was to have Storm and Xavier's revelations of what happened relatively close together. But I agree that I never cared about their romance in the original show either. It felt weird and forced and rushed from the get go and never improved for me. Ultimately though, X-Men Evolution was the one I loved when it aired, where as I enjoy the original show but I'm laughing at it as often as I'm engaged by it.) Ultimately though I wish they had never brought Charles back. The X-Men having to move on without him was much more interesting and I wish they'd stuck to the idea long term. It kind of cheapens Magneto's character development a bit this season to suddenly say 'actually Charles was just off in space but now he's coming back.' (I know the original series ended with him being taken into space but his final scene with the X-men was framed very much like deathbed goodbyes and had an air of finality to it.) If the story in the back half turns into 'Charles comes back to clean up this mess' I'll be severely disappointed.
I'm rewatching the original show and just... Episode 1 starts with riots over social injustices, Jubilee's parents go full "not my daughter" on her and the president is a woman. Im enjoying it... I promise it's not nostalgia talking.... okay maybe a little xD I really want someone to analyze the show with modern eyes.
I am normally very indifferent to cosmic stuff and Xavier's bird wife, but I think this is the first time it has work for me. Largely helped by how bitchy Deathbird and Charles were to each other. That is the kind of stuff I enjoy in X-men. I do feel the same as you about Charles where I enjoy him more when he's not around but I am also a fan of everyone dog piling on him of how shitty of a mentor he is and that seems to be where this is going so I am all for it if that is the case. I think this show has handled well zigging when we think they are zagging. Also, while I originally think they were going to undo it (And I don't mind this since genre shows tend to pull this and I don't think it takes away from the impact as long as something of consequence is kept) I think that if we take what the former showrunner posted is very unlikely the deaths will be reverse. Especially since Storm wasn't there so they risk of losing a lot of development. But I could be wrong.
I really wish Xavier hadn't been brought back. Even if this was a stronger episode, I do feel like it actively undermines some of the best stuff the show has been doing so far. Lifedeath also suffered quite a bit from a lack of time and focus, not once but twice, and was a bit of a letdown in the end. To be fair, I also have no interest in the Shi'ar or cosmic storylines in general, and while Xavier has been done really well in some runs of the comics, he's not a favourite of mine at the best of times, and I always found the animated series version a bit bland and inconsistent.
I agree that the stuff with Charles is weak. I didn't care about the shiarans either, and while I feel like it was hinted that Charles was off with Lilandre in the original series, it feels out of character to show us that that is indeed where he is and that he has been just not paying attention to anything going on on earth. I will have to disagree about the feelings about reserecting characters generally though for two reasons. One bringing a dead character back can be good, if there is an interesting story to tell with it. It has to be done well like anything else, and it has to have emotional weight. Us finding out Charles is still alive didn't have any emotional weight to it, where as finding out Morph lived did. Second reason is completely selfish and childish but Gambit is my favorite Xmen and I feel like he gets shafted in every bit of screen media he is placed in. I just want to see him get to be happy with Rogue in something other than the comics, so I really really hope he comes back in some way (but once again that there is some emotional payoff and weight to his return if they do that).
I don't think is realistic to expect them to NOT bring the "dead" characters back, BUT at least let them be dead at least some time, at least a season! Is that asking too much? Apparently so 😅😢
I find you very harsh on this episode. You came to this series with very low expectations and because you liked episodes 1 to 3 and loved episode 5, now the expected standard is very high ? That's not very fair. And even though I understand that the Shiar stuff is not your cup of tea, it was always part of the comics and part of the Dark Phoenix mythology since the 70s. You can't base your appreciation of the X-men mythology solely on the movies. They are sometimes very simplistic and biased adaptations. Since all these elements have been adapted in the 90s and the project is supposed to be a continuation of the complete adaptation of the mythology, even if I'm not myself a fan of Lilandra and Deathbird, it makes sense to adapt them. And you did like Mojo even though he also is an extra dimensional alien and has also nothing to do with the racism allegory so even on the "Aliens have nothing to do with X-men" song, you are not consistant. I do believe that the writers have a nice balance with all the comics mythology stuff, even with stuff I'm not a big fan myself. I am not even a big fan of Xavier returning so I technically agree with you on some points but I think your tone was quite unfairly harsh as the showrunners have deserved some slack and goodwill after managing to take this sequel project to such heights.
How is it unfair when it was this show that raised my expectations in the first place? Are you saying it's unfair to go to a restaurant for the first time, have a good appetizer and and entre, but find the dessert lacking?
It's unfair to go to a taco bell with low expectations and being harsh on the dessert because you were impressed by the special, yes. You forgot by the end it was a Taco Bell. I've been following you for a long time and you are better and more rationnal than here where you let your emotions go a little over the top.
The thing which I don’t dislike about Charles and Liliandra here is the fact that the show is willing to portray the Shi’ar as colonialist, imperialist, and overall fairly unpleasant. Marrying into the Shi’ar royal family is not something that a moral person should consider. Liliandra isn’t as bad as The Mad Emperor D’Ken or Deathbird, but that’s not saying much, and she’d probably consider it anti-feminist if you brought up her warcrimes. And while I like the space X-Men (Dave Cockrum’s Legion of Superheroes pastiche with the Imperial Guard are beautiful; Storm with the Acanti is powerful in the original Brood saga; the Starjammers are swinging fun space pirates, and Carol Danvers joining them as Binary is basically the coolest she ever is), I think it’s right that maybe Marvel Animation doesn’t need to adapt it. Not everything from the comics needs to make it into the Cartoons.
@BreakRoomofGeeks I saw her regaining her power this episode as something more than "she has an X gene." In a universe where Asgard exists, and her origin as being revered as a god, it feels like she's being pigeon holed.
@pious83 I'm not going to go too deep into this because this is clearly an unpopular opinion 🙂, but it's not that hot of a take. In Black Panther (172... I had to look it up), she has the "Godhead" which is passed down through her ancestors. It allows the Wakandan's belief in Storm to increase her powers. I hope people aren't reading my opinion as "I don't like Storm" because I do; she's a badass. I've always seen her as an actual goddess and not a mutant.
@@saveversus It's not an unpopular opinion. It's unheard of. Yet in spite of the source, what is written in a single issue of BP is utterly irrelevant to X-Men lore. I would take that with a pinch of salt. Her mother was a sorceress, hence some latent magical power. She was cited as a "goddess" by human tribes people that didn't know what a mutant was. Merely seeing a young woman with white hair (and feline, blue eyes) that could make it rain etc However, there are literal reality altering Mutants among the X-Men that make Omega Level weather manipulation look like nothing. Effectively, Gods in their own right that are stronger than anything else in Marvel. Storm is nowhere near their ranks.
This is loyalty to the cartoon though, not just the source material. The end of the last episode of the original X-Men cartoon this is directly a continuation of showed that he was not dead, so nothing was rolled back or retconned, as least not within this show itself.
Regardless, that doesn't fix the "I don't miss him" problem.
@@BreakRoomofGeeks correct. i didnt miss him either, but i just wanted to let you know this wasnt the show undoing something. that's all.

The original series did tell original stories. Like, as examples, everything revolving around Morph was made completely for the show, Mr. Sinister's backstory episode wasn't from the comics and the excellent "One Man's Worth" two-parter wasn't a direct adaptation of anything.
A little different, but Sinister's backstory was adapted from The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix.
I was very, very distracted by the FANTASTIC sequence of Storm in her original costume; it made the episode for me!
i was distracted in a bad way. like moments earlier forge was dying in the cave and then shes just flying around whimsically while im thinking "uh you gonna go grab forge? he could be dying while youre busy having fun..."
@@saphcalworth it, most important scenes were storm cutting lose.
Lillandra whisked him away in the Final episode of the Original show to help Charles recover with the help of Shiar medical technology
@@nekusakura6748 Thank you, that explains quite a bit :)
I was with you (especially with Xavier) until 12:07 - I'll give three main examples:
1) *Final Decision.* The Season One finale was the part three to Days of Future Past that the comics never had.
A case of _"Well as the allies to the X-Men, they aren't as evil as the Badoon/Skrulls/Kree"_
..Except the Shi'ar are constantly at odds with all of the above for supremacy.
I don't usually agree with everthing you say but I'm 100% with you on this one
I LOVE BLACK CAPE STORM... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Still good video
the two stories resonate with each other same with the two love triangles on eps 5
If they make magneto evil after that, it's gonna be a big let down
I mean, define evil?
If he’s more radicalized and violent in response to the very clear act of genocide then…I dunno. It seems kinda justified to me.
I mean he has a major reason to be evil again
@tariqthomas9090 well exactly but with bringing Charles back, they can portray him as some evil psycho with whom professor need to reason. Which would be a big shame for the series
@tariqthomas9090 Even though SPOILERS
It was Mr Sinister and Not Humans that sent the Sentinels.
lol the drama also gets messy in the cosmos when Scott’s dad is a pirate…. IN SPACE lol
Engagement for the engagement god!
It's always too soon for Xavier to return from the dead.
@@damnrapunzel8130 Would have been nice if they put that in the recap or something.
If they felt they had to bring Xavier back, I wish it would have been a season 2 thing. We can do without him for a while longer.
I was disappointed Storm got her powers back. It nullified the emotion I felt when she lost them.
Ultimately though, X-Men Evolution was the one I loved when it aired, where as I enjoy the original show but I'm laughing at it as often as I'm engaged by it.)
Ultimately though I wish they had never brought Charles back.
I promise it's not nostalgia talking.... okay maybe a little xD
I really want someone to analyze the show with modern eyes.
Reviewers should start with "From the Milky Way Ghetto!"
Been watching you for years just realized I wasn’t subscribed wth.
Are we ready to say Storm isn't a Mutant now? 😅
I like Storm, but she never fit as an X-Men to me.
Excuse you?
@BreakRoomofGeeks I saw her regaining her power this episode as something more than "she has an X gene."
In a universe where Asgard exists, and her origin as being revered as a god, it feels like she's being pigeon holed.
@@saveversus That's the most bizarre hot take I've ever heard. You must be new to X-Men?
Merely seeing a young woman with white hair (and feline, blue eyes) that could make it rain etc
However, there are literal reality altering Mutants among the X-Men that make Omega Level weather manipulation look like nothing. Effectively, Gods in their own right that are stronger than anything else in Marvel. Storm is nowhere near their ranks.
