- Watch as I go a little mad trying to make an actual RUclips video. Sorry about the noticeable dip in quality halfway through (the sun may or may not have set on me without my noticing), but at this point I'm prioritizing actually getting videos up.
This is an extension of my TT video, giving examples of marvel characters born in each U.S. State (or...mostly). All birthplaces were verified on marvel.com.
Okay, hear me out.
Apparently, Deadpool fought a zombified version of Franklin Pierce, the 14th President of the United States. Franklin Pierce is from New Hampshire.
Bam! There is your Marvel character from New Hampshire.
@@RocKnight11 genuinely that counts! Neat!
Why Franklin pierce? 😂
@@Brightd00d Someone ressurected every US President from Washington to Reagan, they wanted to destroy the world, and Deadpool was the only man for the job, on account of his skills and also that he's Canadian.
Fun fact my best friend Olivia Pierce is related directly to franklin pierce!
@@chewymustard6426Fun fact: his First Lady was one of my ancestors. The family wasn't happy about her marrying him, feeling that a politician was beneath them.
me waiting the whole video to see whos from my state only to find out that nh is the only state without one.
other than that very entertaining and informative video tho 10/10

Don't forget all the Canadian heroes who are from (generic) Canada, which I know is a whole other country but Marvel REALLY seems to like making Canadian characters when they aren't obsessing over New York
@@QueenLizby john byrne, a very influential writer of early marvel, was Canadian and loved making characters from there. He’s also partially the reason wolverine got pushed so hard cause he loved that there was a canadian xman
@@nikhilclayton John did have a pretty solid run on X-Men, can't fault the guy for repping his home and doing a really good job at that!
yeah, he was a good writer, shame about him as a human being though
@@brandongiles7240Is he that good of a writer though....?
Dang I forgot about captain citrus. Classic character.
As a Connecticut resident, I can confirm that Green Goblin being from here checks out. I'm pretty sure I know which building in downtown Hartford he works in, and where the potential landing spots for his little hoverboard may be on it.
One of my favorite obscure Marvel facts is that Paste-Pot Pete, the Trapster, is from Gary, Indiana.
i know that place from a song mh
The hometown of Michael, Janet, and the rest of the Jacksons
Damn, glad he got out
RHODE ISLAND HAS ENTERED THE CHAT. We may not have Marvel, but DC’s fictional Happy Harbor, home of Young Justice, is in RI!!
That means Snapper Carr is a native.
H.P. Lovecraft is, not surprisingly, a canonical Marvel character.
Also of note, the first issue of the Ghost Rider spin-off/launch of the Midnight Sons line, "Spirits of Vengance" took place in Rhode Island. This was, I believe, the first appearance of Johnny Blaze's children--since they were a travelling circus, that doesn't mean they were born there, but I mean...pretty easy to retcon. Also, maybe Lilith spawned a Lillin.
Rhode islander here. My friend is starting up a marvel multiverse rpg game in the next few weeks.my charachters motivation is to be the first superhero grom rfode island. But has to do it elsewhere because rhode island doesnt want them Attracting supervillains. They havent had a local one since tje forties and intend to keep it that way
RI in the house!!
Also, the City of Heroes/Villains game took place in RI.
Tennessee still has Dolly Parton, who is a hero in any universe.
I'm genuinely surprised there aren't more characters from Washington State.
It seems like a good place to hide some characters origins.
Forests, Tech Hubs like Seattle, Small towns, Sea Access, Deserts, Ghost Towns, Mines, Glaciers, Islands, etc.
The state has a LOT of potential.
This makes me think that Marvel has a very particular reason as to why they don't make characters from Washington anymore.
Some dumb license agreement perhaps?
I watched the TikTok when it came out, but that's not going to stop me from watching a 23 minute version of said video.
12:05 The mascot for the University of Arkansas is the Razorbacks. It is a wild boar/pig mix that is native but not unique to the state. The U of A is the biggest college in the state and has long been its most popular to root for. And that, True Believers, is why we got a hero named Razorback.
Is it weird that I'm less embarrassed that Redneck is from my state than the Razorback?
As a former Idahoan, the Leader being from there makes a ton of sense.
My ex is from Idaho and it makes SO much sense
I'm from and still in Idaho, and I have no idea how Marvel managed to not make a Potato Man from Idaho since that's basically all people know about it.
Wait, maybe they're like everyone who thinks it's Iowa or Ohio
A man from Scranton started Civil War, now Dunder Mufflin would have had a field day making headlines for that news.
He destroyed Stamford CT, corporate warfare against WWE
I can’t stress enough how much I hate that this isn’t in order
What order can it be in?
@sanny8716 alphabetical by state?
@@cr1ticalfailure Wouldn't that just be kinda random? At least geographical order that he did makes sense
How is a specific order random?@@sanny8716
The reason you want it is the exact reason he won't do it. You want to skip to YOUR state. He wants you to watch the entire video.
green goblin is just the average resident of Fairfield county
That's hilarious how this I find out what my states character is. And yeah I'm in Fairfield county and can see him living in Fairfield propper.
Sounds about right. I don’t live there now (I’m in New Haven County), but I deal with Fairfield County people all the time. While this doesn’t talk about every person from there, they as a whole really can be like that.
not just a deep dive, incredibly and unnecessarily insightful too!
You know what, I'll take Bucky. That's better than a lot of these.
Delaware having two characters is particularly impressive since, based on a quick wiki check, Delaware is the US state with the least number of appearances, having only shown up 14 times - and that's counting an episode each from Agents of Shield and the '80s Hulk series, apparently. I figured Cap would've been the most likely hero to show up in the First State, but he's actually seemingly only been there once as part of an Avengers story. In DC, though, Metropolis is apparently there?
I used to have a very close friend from Delaware who was a massive local history nerd (worked at historical parks and the like) and while I am definitely no on speaking terms with her anymore (my fault) I do still have a soft spot for the state ... even if there really isn't much there besides some cool old buildings, museums, and horseshoe crabs. Oh, and apparently the whole state's population is the victim of a curse placed upon them by Edgar Allen Poe, that's a thing.
Oh, and New Hampshire has 24 appearances.
In listing the crazy things Rick Jones has done you somehow skipped that he is actually the person who brought the original Avengers together.
As a Delawarean and someone who grew up in Smyrna I gotta say it's an absolutely bizarre fact to hear a marvel villain is not only from Delaware but the town I grew up in and It's not even a major town in the state. Also minor thing but as someone who grew up in Smyrna it urks me when people, understandably, mispronounce it as Si-meer-na when everyone from around the area says it like Suh-mer-nuh but it's completely understandable if you're not from the area
Your comedy continues to be top-notch. I know we sound like a broken record here, but your delivery is absolutely incredible. XD
11/10 content, as always. 💕
Bro nailed the pronunciation of Hoosier
Indeed, I’m just glad we have a semi recognizable character
Is it that hard to pronounce?
I must be bias.
@HenryLongfellow-lw2gq same, I swore it was going to be the most D-Lister character ever but im happy we got Bucky.
nice! we get to see our favorite comic book nerd from a new angle this time!
also love the editing whom i feel is probably he's clone messing with him
Didn't realize you had a RUclips channel too, you should have so much more subs on here your videos are great 😃
Not sure if this counts or is wholly accurate, but the Marvel character The Blue Ear was made because of a fan from New Hampshire and while I don’t think his birth place is listed, Blue Ear is presumably from New Hampshire.
@@ComicCollectorTom i considered blue ear! But yeah they never actually specify a birthplace for him
@@nikhilclayton well damn
Close enough.
I’m from Waverly Iowa, which is Hawkeye’s hometown, we are a middle of nowhere rural town of like 10,000. Take that Washington, you only get the Griffin guy but my little town in the middle of bumfuck nowhere gets an Avenger

@@vontothemax if Hawkeye was from Waterloo he’d use a Glock 9 instead of a bow and arrow
@@sergeantdornan5695 Awesome!

I knew Norman Osborn was from Connecticut but I didn’t realize that Speedball was also from there. This was a neat video. Maybe you could do the same thing with DC characters in the future.
This is my first video of yours and I was HOWLING throughout this entire thing. Where has your channel been all my life
Don't forget Gravity is from Wisconsin. I love how in Secret Invasion during the montage of cross country Skrull killing the GLA is like, "Hey Gravity want to come back to Milwaukee?" and he just is like, "Wow look at the time, gotta go kill some Skrulls anywhere other than right here."
Also can't forget the Detroit native Good Boy. She is a furry artist who can transform into her Blue Wolf fursona. She is also on the GLA... I just love the GLA.
"Come on Ben don't you know it doesn't matter anymore, there are werewolves in L.A" - Phil Sheldon
Your passion for comics excites me! I thought I could listen to this while going to bed, and you get me here wide awake taking shots enjoying every state! Don't stop doing what you're doing bro I love it!
And YES South Carolina for the Overkill!!!! I am pleased!
Boom New Hampshire
I feel like i need to correct the Big bertha joke, her power is that she can grow her body to increase her strength. Though to make the GLA edgy it was definded that she could only lose weight by belima, though and the reason i feel the need to defend her, she is now a plus sized model and since the start of their last mini series she has pretty much kept the same size. Got to defend the GLA! But aside good video was quite funny.
this may be the way i finally learn the different states in the US
Great video! Would love one on characters from countries that are not the US or made up.
I'd be willing to bet that'd only actually cover like 20-30% of the world's countries at best given how US centric comics tend to be.
I would love a made up countries version of this. But not people from space, Ideally just made up countries on earth.
@MaxEllSibSwe I really love the old soviet characters they made. They're really interesting time pieces in a way. Like Crimson Dynamo, Omega Red, and Red Guardian ( are you noticing a theme with these names)
the best part of this video is the transitioning between states- you connected each state so well 😂
This is really good! I love this and this is actually really helpful
Hank Pym is actually from Nebraska, though I don't think that was a thing until 2015
2013 in age of ultron #10, but the official marvel website says new york so he's probobly going with that
20:35 Benjamin "Dex" Poindexter from Daredevil was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
Lol in the show, yeah. As. i show in 21:02 and then a second later at 21:03 I show it's still unconfirmed in the comics (at least according to Marvel.com which was my ultimate fact-checker, though every handbook I checked also had him unlisted)
This was wildly entertaining
It’s also great to know there’s like no one from Michigan that’s fine 🎉🎉 so happy about that
I went on this to find out who was from my state then realized almost every single marvel character is from New York
I love the idea that Oregon is so unremarkable that our only superhero got shipped to New York City - I can really feel the love you guys
The energy is crazy
Minutae is the lifeblood of nerdhood, it keeps the culture deep.
Don't forget that after that incident with Nitro, Speedball has thought he lost his powers, and after he discovered he had them, but they were activated by his own pain, he built a suit with an inward spike for every victim and became Penance
Those were some weapons grade transitions. Absolutely brilliant
I just subscribed specifically because of the Dani Moonstar love.
This video was amazing :D XD I love how most of the states get roasted (even if my state was as well XD) keep up the great videos!
Dayton Ohio born here. Hulk makes a lot of sense being from a tech town in a state known for tech and science.
The Hulk and Spiderman where created as a concept in Dayton, Ohio. I think Stan just wanted to make one of them born her as homage.
(Dayton doesn't get enough credit in media)
new hampshire has jimble thimble, a mutant who's power is giving people cancer
The funniest part about the Arkansan superhero Razorback is that he's not actually a superhero he is just a razorback football fan with a CDL licenses. (Jk)
It's weird that the 50 State Initiative left out a state!
I think they assigned the states by the hero/team that primarily operated there.
I had no idea Hulk was from Ohio but yeah, suck it, rest if the Midwest!
Cmon man
:(
He said hulk, he never said Bruce banner. I thought hulk was supposed to be some mythical cosmic being or something, but actually him being from Ohio makes a lot more sense.
Very skibidi Ohio...
Hey don’t knock D-Man!
…you can knock deathlok but not D-Man
Watching in x2 while I waited for my state to pop up was to very entertaining to where I watched the whole thing like that😂 but cool video man
I’m absolutely losing it over here with the mention of the Great Lakes avengers
I really liked the editing style
Franklin Peirce the 14th President of the United States appears as a zombie in Deadpool (volume 5) 4 where he brought to undeath and subsequently re-killed. He was born in New Hampshire so if you count being a zombie as an original character then he would be a marvel character from New Hampshire.
Movie Nick Fury is based on the Nick Fury from the Ultimate Comics imprint, where he was based on Samuel L. Jackson.
Watching this as someone who is not from the USA is great because I just havo no idea of what most of the jokes mean but I'm still enjoying your enthusiasm
Great video dude…is Indiana allowed to claim Winter Soldier or nah
@@AmbassadorBleu yeah! He was born there
“Daredevil can’t legally be pictured with a moose” bro you can’t just leave us with that.
Great video! Even if you did misspell my home state of Delaware.
Also, another MAJOR character from Nebraska is Hank Pym!
@@ant-fan hank pym was born in elmsford NY. But thank you!
@ I’d be curious what your source is for that! I assume there must be conflicting statements in canon, as the final issue of Age of Ultron explicitly states that Hank was born “East Nowhere, Nebraska.”
@ marvel.com and Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe but admittedly they may be out of date. They were just my fact-checking tool for this vid
@@nikhilclayton Cool! I’m going to be on the hunt for where that comes from. It’s such a specific place!
Either way, this is a really fun video! Thanks for making it! I’ll definitely be tuning in to see what you make in the future!
Did some research, Razorback seems fun, not as much of a bummer as thought initially. Hope you'll have a good day

To call Deathlok(1974) a Terminator(1984)/Robocop(1987) rip off when he was created a full decade before either is bold.
Also, Deathlok is the inspiration for Cyborg from Teen Titans. George Perez was Rich Buckler's assistant when Rich created Deathlok. When Perez worked with DC to create the Teen Titans in 1980, he borrowed heavily from Deathlok to create Cyborg

As a Nebraskan, it makes a lot of sense that a lot of heroes where raised here and left immediately
As an Australian, it's weird that there's practically no popular Australian Marvel heroes (only Australian superhero in general i can think of is Captain Boomerang), yet Australians play 2 of the most popular superheroes and also have a huge role in creating them (not one but 2 of our state governments are in practically all the marvel credits)
Didn’t you guys basically adopt The Phantom?
As an X-Men fan, I feel it my duty to inform you that one of the most popular eras of the original Claremont run involved the team living in the Outback as fugitives for like two years. Is it because Chris saw Mad Max and wanted to do Mad Max but in the Marvel Universe? Maybe. But it did give us some great issues and some really cool heroes like Gateway and later Manifold. Also worth mentioning that Bishop's parents are Aboriginal even if he is culturally a post-apocalyptic New Yorker. (Oh, and Pyro is an Aussie too! Not always a hero but reasonably popular!)
It's because we have the visual effects studios in more of our capital cities
Could also be Disney Studios (old fox studios)
I love the new editor!

As a Floridian I am honored to be repped by Captain Citrus
Also I used to live in Connecticut and I can confirm that when you said green goblin was born in CT I did immediately say “yep, that makes sense”
I'm from Conencticut and I can confirm that Norman Osborn being from here makes a lot of sense
Cannonball's brother Icarus was also a talented singer who has a voice that could harmonize with itself
