I’m very glad you liked the video, and complete the job with ease. Thank you for the feedback too :) I appreciate it. Have a great Christmas and New Year
Thanks for showing me how to change the bulbs in my rear light clusters. This was a great mystery I was trying to solve for a long time, plus I was always trying to change the bulbs with out opening the rear hatch or removing the black cover. Now it finally all makes sense and I can remove the light unit with a good old pull, straight back with no twisting or jiggling, and I can say it truly is easy peazy!!!
kc4ril haha I always look forward to your comical replies. Thanks for replying as usual :D oh just so you know, my friend with the Porsche Cayman Porsche design edition 1 has aloud me to film his Porsche soon :) we may do a track day in it, with my go pros set up. And he has also aloud me to film his Lamborghini gallardo SE. I’m pumped for this :D
You have a friend with a limited addition Porsche and a Lambo SE??? Aren't there only 250 of those in the whole world? Plus i guess a few have been destroyed by now so it's probably even less. Man, I must be traveling in the wrong social circles or something, I'll have to go revaluate my life now. Anyways I'm really looking forward to the upcoming vids!!! keep up the good work!!!
Hi I have the same model but with led rear lights. I understand the led strip can’t be changed so I need a new headlight. So it’s straight forward, I just buy a new unit and replace as you show here? No coding required?
Hey, I didn't know that, as none of my cars had LED strips. It will be interesting to see if my father's strips would need the rear light replacing. How much is a replacement on the f20? 150 pounds? I wonder if there is a replacement part somewhere. hmm
@@mattsbeamer the LEDs are soldered onto the unit so there's absolutely no way replacing them, they just eventually dim out and stop lighting up. I've found the rear light unit is roughly 160ish 3rd party, 230ish if you get it from BMW directly. I can fit it myself it looks straight forward, it's the coding that might be required as it's a completely new unit.
thank you for a clear video. However, I live in the UK (left hand drive). Are you saying that there is only 1 reverse light on the BMW 1 series? I've just bought my first one and it appears as if one reverse light is not working. But I heard you mention something about it possibly being a 'fog light' . Now I'm a bit confused. Good video though.
Miro nebitno :D Don’t forget a 1 series too :D I will have to look into this pro Navi harder. I would love to have I drive and a screen in my car. I wonder how difficult it is lol :)
Of course there a Mattsbeamer for this 😅 I got a few bulbs to change of mine. Matt, do you have videos about life in Russia as a foreigner? It must be concerning to you at the moment?
Hey, I’m glad the videos are useful to you :) I did start a channel 5 years back, just before my daughter was born and I managed to make 3 videos. I may consider restarting that channel. I kinda keep putting it off, as I know people will be political, and I’m not really into that. :) thank you once again for your message, and I hope all is great, your end :) cheers :)
@@mattsbeamer i was completely wrong, i was remembering my old Fiesta which had both bilateral reverse lights and rear fogs. My F20 is the 120D automatic version from 2014.. which is the same as yours coming with one white reverse light on the passenger side and a rear fog on the driver side.
How do you know which bulb model number(idk if its called like this) those are? Say I didn't watch your video, or I have some other BMW, how would I know which light bulbs I should use?
Thanks for these videos. Got pretty much the same car but "Sport" spec (alloys, red trim etc) You considered getting a remap on yours? if it's the n13 prince there's considerable gains to be had ( from 130HP stock to 170-200HP)
Hey, I don’t know why I didn’t see this comment. Sorry for being slow at replying. Your car sounds cool!! I haven’t looked into getting a remap yet, it’s something I must look into. I never knew they could be modded that much. It seems pretty impressive!!! Cheers
@@mattsbeamer I think the highest people have gotten these cars on just a remap alone is around 210HP mark which are huge gains The primary issue is the clutch however as really anything over 170 could cause excessive wear on the clutch as it's not rated to handle the additional torque. I think opting for a safe 170hp is worthwhile though. Makes them totally different cars.
Hey, do you mean the lights don't work at all, or do you mean the error won't go away. Are you using the lights recommended for your car, or have you upgraded them to LED. I know some people have issues by using bulbs which don't need as much power, so the system notices and says its faulty.
Very good video clear and to the point. now changed reverse bulb to Led.👍👍

Hi Matt, what tool did you use in the end to fit the nut?
Hello :) Do you mean at 4:41 :) I think it’s called a flex head socket. 10mm.
How do you get behind the light, I can't get the nut off the bolt it's stuck , I need to get round the back?
Hi! I have BMW f20 M look. I have LED tape instead bulb originally? WTF? Maybe is this another version?

This was helpful thanks. I have a question, I have a F21 2012 stock rear lights, can I replace the bulbs with led bulbs?

The F20's in the UK also have one reverse and one fog light
I believe the fog light is always on the driver's side :)
Great help! Thx
Glad it helped!

Arent both the bottom bulbs classified as the “reverse lights”? Coz i swear they both switch on when in reverse gear.
maybe it could depend on where you live. it will be interesting to know if yours has 2.

I only have one reverse light on my pre-LCI F20 and I thought one of the bulbs was gone. Is there only one bulb on the F20?
Henry Healy hey, thank you for your message. The f20 only has one reverse light. Take care :)
I've come here to ask the same question as I saw 1 reverse light lit this morning. Panic over
Thank you for the information
I change all the bulbs and still don.t work and show me the error in computer bord
