    Omg, this app seems like it'd be amazing for my ADHD! So many apps require a lot of set up and planning, and I get analysis paralysis. I love that I could just jump in. Great work on this tutorial. Off to binge your videos. Thank you!

    It's a pleasure to watch someone telling Things 3 is the best task manager and don't say 3 months later that Todoist is now the best task manager. This strenghten the expression: "to put your money where your mouth is" :) I'm Windows only user and now I'm starting to feeling very sad to don't have access of this very nice application. Todoist is nice but not at the level of Things 3. And Tick Tick have the vast majority of Things 3 but design by someone who don't care. You can say whateever you want bad about Mac, they still are the masters of UI/UX design.

    Great video, I just switched from Omnifocus after using it for a while, to Things and the design of things is so refreshing. I also love the when date Omnifocus feels way more tagcentric but even after creating contexts, I almost never use them, whereas the idea of scheduling a task (without a deadline) is something I care so much more about. Also from what I understand after you switch task managers for the third time that fixes everything, so I have no doubt that all of my productivity issue will be completely gone now.

    Great videos, thanks to you am switching from Omnifocus to things. One of my big questions is how to create a weekly/monthly/annual overview, like a monthly objectives, weekly objectives... pulling tasks/project from various life domains... I still did not figure out how to do it... did you cover it anywhere ? Is it actually possible to work w/Things on "this week" / "this month"/ this year projects ?

    • @PeterAkkies
      @PeterAkkies  4 месяца назад

      Yes, I recommend having a set of areas that cover any tasks you might have, and then putting each task in an area.

    Hi Peter, great timing on this as have now gone all-apple and thinking of moving over from todoist. One thing stopping me (I think) is the inability to complete a task due in the future i.e. got some time on my hands so could crack through some tasks due tomorrow. Is that actually the case? Thanks.

    • @corgikun2579
      @corgikun2579 2 года назад +2

      you CAN check upcoming and non-scheduled tasks as complete anytime.
      Peter doesn't show this on the video, but you can actually open many Things windows so that you can arrange several projects or inbox, upcoming, and organize your tasks

    • @PeterAkkies
      @PeterAkkies  2 года назад +1

      Yeah, just find the task (e.g. in its project or area or through the search feature) and click or tap its checkbox. The only tasks you cannot complete ahead of time are repeating tasks.

    Hi Peter, do you think Things is useful for things like "lessons learned"? if not, what would you advice instead?

    • @PeterAkkies
      @PeterAkkies  2 года назад

      That sounds more like a note or a journal entry to me. So I’d probably use Apple Notes or a journaling app like Day One for that. Things isn’t meant for (or good at) long-term storage of information.

      @@PeterAkkies Great! Thanks for the guidance on this. And would you say that Things can be used for lists (i.e. things that I like to do in down time, or shopping list, or list of a cleaning routine). Thanks again! Very useful videos!!

  • @none3209
    @none3209 2 года назад +1

    Hi Peter, I found your older "Getting Started with Things 3" video really useful a few years ago! I was slightly fascinated that in this updated version, you went with five initial areas instead of "get started with 'Home' and 'Work' and go from there". Was this just to try something different? Or did experience with more students shape your opinion that this more structured starting point is more useful?

    • @PeterAkkies
      @PeterAkkies  2 года назад +3

      No particular reason. Most people end up with more than two areas eventually so I figured why not show that.

  • @rezendenetto
    @rezendenetto 2 года назад

    Is it necessary to buy separately Things 3 for iphone (IOS), iPad (IpadOS) and also for Macbook (MacOS), or can we make just one payment to have the app in the entire Apple ecosystem?

    • @PeterAkkies

    I see why people like things 3 and it is seems mainly due to the UI design and simplicity which is a plus. But this is not GTD and fair play, I don't think Peter is saying here that this is the GTD system, just a way to use Things 3. For me, although people say Omnifocus is clunky or from the 90s with its UI, it is still built as an authentic GTD system.

    I like your content, but I have a critique. You have a LOT of vocal fry in the way you speak. You have a decent voice, so there's really no reason to try to enhance it by using vocal fry. (Vocal fry isn't an enhancement at all, by the way. It detracts from your presentation.)
    If you don't know what vocal fry is, please look it up. It's easily fixed.
