I was born in Eastbourne and my grandfather was a policeman but worked from the still existing police station in Grove Road and using the police box (Tardis] in Seaside near Leslie Street. This is how the police managed with just a telephone in the box, along with their tea making stuff, the beacon on top of box would light up to show that he, on his beat was wanted urgently.
