Man's a genius. His solo work is exceptional....love it!
Richard is an awakened soul.... it’s a a shame that there isn’t more people in the public eye aren’t given the platform to educate the sheep ✌️
He never was put out there like some other people from the 90's I could mention because he didn't go around saying and doing clownish/tabloidy things all the time. He didn't want all that attention 24/7, he was realer than all that.
Legend Richard Ashcroft
He's so acutely aware of all his songs and their meanings and who he is as a person. Huge inspiration
Underrated genius saw him live twice f*cking legend 😎
Love him... He's still as deep as ever....
His songs hit my heart .He is one of the greatest songwriters
He always keeps with the feeling and where that goes....beautiful.
I almost cried when I saw him and watched him in concert the reason I didn't let it out was because I was so mesmerised by his presence and performance as it happened it kind of distracted me again but I also didn't want to look like an idiot or over the top. But it was a spiritual experience as in I looked up to the sky towards Heaven and thought of Jesus. You can't get more powerful than that. The Holy Spirit was there. It was so incredible. I am literally still coming down from the concert a week ago. The man is so special to me his music his presence his performance what I've seen of him as a person. It's really beautiful. The music is just honestly incredible. When he walked onto that stage I didn't even realise.I heard my husband shouting so loud and looked at him and his face was so stunned I knew then that the man who had just walked on stage so quietly and humbly and without any noise, was him.....I didn't have my glasses on and I nearly died with such love and admiration when I realised as I said to my husband is that him as I couldn't see properly and Richard had his back to us bending down doing something then he stood up and spoke to us all and my husband said yes its him, then he started singing and playing "Sonnet" and..... WOW..... I was totally stunned, my goodness what a night we were in for. Absolutely incredible. Plus Jesus was present I know it. God Bless that man. 🙏🙏🙏
Ah, Jesus
Omg he's so emotionally intelligent. Every time I've seen him / them live I've cried my eyes out
He loves their fans...I love him!!!!😍❣️
Brilliant and heart felt interview.
Nice
Richard is so real. What a talent! What a legend. He seems to love his fans onstage. I would give anything to see the Verve reunion someday!!! Woohoo! But I love RA music solo too! 😘 Yes Johnny Cash "Hurt" is one video I listen to regularly! Yes many of us can identify.
Yeah!!!! I am and I will buy everything this man has ever made for the rest of my life- Thank you Richard for the Music! Keep it coming! You are amazing!
Man in Motion... love that song!!
Nobody gets away With that many uhuuu yeaheahhh and being The coolest man on earth
Very COOL to head Richard Ashcroft being so humble.
"Bitter Sweet Symphony" is based on a sample from a 1965 version of the Rolling Stones song "The Last Time" by the Andrew Oldham Orchestra. The Verve added strings, guitar, percussion and vocals. They obtained rights to use the "Last Time" sample from the copyright holder, Decca Records, but were denied permission from the Rolling Stones' former manager, Allen Klein. Following a lawsuit, the Verve relinquished all royalties and the Rolling Stones members Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were added to the songwriting credits. In 2019, after Klein's death, Jagger, Richards and Klein's son ceded the rights to the Verve songwriter Richard Ashcroft. Brilliant. ❤
Love Natural Rebel. Unfolds a bit more with every listen very smooth
King Richard above everything and everyone!!
Great interview , never a dull moment with Richard. Can’t wait to see him live
Very good interview. Liked the interviewer a lot, nice bloke. Richard’s articulate, never mixes his words, he’s always clear and has something new to say every time I hear him speak. Natural Rebel has some instant classics, ‘Money Money’ is electrifying turned up.
Think it's Eddie Temple-Morris from Up For It Live on MTV in the 90's interviewing.
Agree on Money Money! Great running tune!!
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, before today... That he does say something new & profound in most interviews he talks in....
He is incredible! Like his songs
Richard is a amazing talker and so chilled and thoughtful.so glad he's grown his hair back.
Amazing interview 💕 My favorite song is all my dream, it 's so pure love. The new album is perfect 🎵😚🎶🎙 thank you Richard big kiss 💋from 🇦🇷 Come to Argentina again please 💕
drugs dont work is a gospel..pure love..i use it to worship
Wow! Amazing interview. Grew up listening to Bittersweet Symphony, brings back childhood memories of going over the mountains on holiday. You’re such an inspiration Mr. Ashcroft; Hurt by Johnny Cash is a song and lyrics that well me up too, it all comes out! I went through some tough patches as a teen I was very badly bullied at school - name calling, nasty comments, you name it, it happened. It was a tough few years, but listening to The Drugs Don’t Work, Sonnet, One Day, and a lot of your solo stuff was one of my “coping mechanisms.” It was tough, the taunting stuck emotionally, but I got to the end of a tunnel and left school at 16. Today I listen to Lucky Man and I count my blessings every day.
Thank you, Mr. Ashcroft x
Well conducting prepared interview, he asked great questions to learn about his creative thinking skills. I've got to say he asked strategic questions that require him to share work and life situations that he had encountered in the past. Both shared experiences and the conversation is so relaxed that it just flows.
Qué hombre tan bello y un gran artista,te amo Richard!!
Always nice to hear a songwriter explain their songs, nice interview in back slapping kind of way.
Splendid album!
This guy asked some good questions, and Richard likes him you can tell ,
It’s a pleasure to hear you!!! You’re the greatest one!!! I love what you do!!! 💖💖💖💖
Class interview, RA was on top form.
Fantastic interview great questions from a genuine fan which is so refreshing after the recent shit .®️🅰️ cool, philosophical, humanity with real empathy with us fans but stiill sharp and prickly sprinkled with fun joy maturing like a fine wine . ®️🅰️😎✌🏼
R.A. SONG IS THE SONG, AGREE ABSOLUTELY
Thanks 😊
Para mí es un excelente album.. thanks Richard Your music leave me high
Love new album,thank you richard!
He is the best singer and songwriter of all time. Great live at Reading 1997, Old Trafford cricket ground supporting Oasis, Hammersmith 2006, V festival 2008, the 02 arena 2016 Dec top gig and Finsbury Park acoustic set supporting Liam Gallagher. Here’s to 2022 or next years London gigs Richard after Tunes in the dunes not going if it’s not postponed till September 2021
He is brilliant
Great interview!!!
Great interview. Check also his interview With Bobby Gillespie from Primal Scream
Great interviewer, great video!!! Loved it...
The Wigan accent really is the perfect blend of Manc and Scouse.
I love it 😀 😍
Anyone calling Richard Mad , needs to be institutionalised. He is the most astute song writer since Dylan
Super buena la entrevista, hablo de su álbum Natural rebel y sus maravillosas canciones, lindo Richard Ashcroft es único.🎶🎵💎💕😘 siempre pensando en sus fans.
Nice🏴
Great interview. Cant wait to hear the album. Cheers! 🍻🍺
Beautiful interview ✌♥️
Always a head of his time, this mans mind is his own and is stronger than a force 10 Gail, and he even has the sense of humour to laugh them off, a very interesting and inspired guy, and so fucking talented😄
Class act. Big up from Scotland 👍
I enjoy every Single word🙏💫its a great Interview and for me my Journey in life with music. Richard is a deep Inspiration for my artwork...years ...long years!
Great songs Bittersweet and Rather be..l love
Gran rex. Was a bless and beautiful moment.
Back R.A
Argentina wait for you.
This is a great interview
great interview 👍👏👏👏
Richard has always been great at interviews but I think this is one of if not the best his ever done. Credit to Eddie temple Morris aswell, I can remember him on mtv presenting the long awaited oasis single dya know what I mean, great days
I was taxing my napper trying to figure out how I know Morris' face, was the DKWIM reveal on MTV back in the day. Nice one.
Yes!
I remember him now.
"Play it again. Play it again now or I'll kill you" or something like that he said at the time.
He'd probably be charged with threats to kill now.
@@davidogilvie1902 Taxing your napper? It aint the fucking 90s!
Well what a little journey that was😊👌
Buenos Aires Baby!
I desperately want a private conversation with him.
I am coming with you🤣
He speaks to me on chat!!!!!! I loven him!!! He loves his fans!
@@liliann7725 where??
@@ashylover96 is my secret...💞
@@liliann7725 lair lmao byeeeee
Some quite deep thoughts in there, cool bloke!
Listen! A legend is talking :D
Ashcroft is his own man...cant fool this guy..BUT,it would sooo awesome if he could work with dj shadow again..lonely soul is the sound he hears in his head ..ii think..
Legend!
You can hear he's angry about Noel's comments about his writing. Understandably.
He's real. Anti femi-elitist. One of the last ones left. Keep rockin'
Why, what did Noel say about Richards writing ?..
What did he say about his writing?
@@eliaol4231 noel did an interview where he said that many people don't write their own songs and ashcroft is one of them
@@Gabriel-zk9gb wtf? Was there rivalry between them?
@@eliaol4231 no and this was the strange part. Oasis were opening for the Verve back in the day. Then the verve were opening for them in earls court 1997. Noel even wrote cast no shadow about ashcroft and ashcroft wrote a northern soul for noel. So it came as a surprise for everyone but in a live performance banter I think he said that there is no bad blood between them
To me this people" and natural rebel. Are a master class of piroduction, sound, mix, etc etc etc.
Exelent richard.please comeback to argentina, lucky man, we live greate moments in your concerts.
And i think that you too.✌
"These People" was a terrible album title though. Should've called it "Songs Of Experience".
@@cowboyjoefrommexico-elsete3434 i think that was the plan.. but u2 beat him to it
MargaretYoung TrainMYAdmin
You may be right, but wasn't the U2 thing released later? Not sure, U2 annoy me, Bono's pretentiousness makes Richard seem positively humble. Not easy.
great interview - anyone else get the ''Terry Tibbs'' vibe at 8:39 haha
💓Richard💓
Cast No Shadow wasn't written about Richard Ashcroft. Noel just dedicated to him on the inlay to (What's the Story) Morning Glory? a very common misconception which I thought Richard may have corrected him on.
Exactly. Cast No Shadow is about Satan running amok on amphetamines in New York City.
Thank You For Clarifying That Because I Just Started Believing That It Was Written About R.A.
Big audience then. Lovely applause
Richard is the real deal
really funny ending :D
Richard talks a good game. Sings a better one.
Love Richard! I think Noel said that Cast No Shadow was not about, but dedicated to Richard, nevermind though, they are both brilliant! #LiveForever
Love im.
Yeah... Me too
His new album is decent, birds fly is a great tune and streets of amsterdam
I like ur what say but its better than decent
agreed
Fun fact birds fly is an verve song that was demoed for Urban Hymns. It was partly reworked for the song sweet and sour. It got leaked a few years ago. Search it up its amazing
PURE POWER🤲
REBEL SOULJAH
por favor alguien ponga subtitulada al español esta entrevista...🙏
don't ever retire! even if you're an old fart singing about putting dentures in one day i don't care. thank you richard for everything
You are so right, took the words out of my mouth! Its funny how everyone is talking crap.is he a good singer or not, that he is posey lol i dont care,i love his music! over analization.
RA 😎
Funny him mentioning watching the Beatles...when he started talking I could of sworn he was channelling Ringo
Sound keeps dipping out for some reason.
I get my beat top tune
Like all interviews with music singer song writers, self indulgent. .
Why did The Verve disband the last time?
same old reason as every time....Ashcroft's ego
He had to leave the group cause they were stifling his creativity; he couldn't have released a far-out avant-garde masterpiece like 'United nations of sound' if he hadn't gone solo-- the band were distracting his singular genius with their atmospherics and grooves.
Their last album was a bit of a disappointment creatively and commercially
@@iggypopisgod9 commercially it was a successful album, number 1 in england and top ten in many places in europe. Also in general the album had good reviews, but who cares about music critics it was a great album for me.

I love ashcroft and his songs are are so spiritual and up lifting but his interviews he comes across as so self importance not a wonder the verve kept splitting up.the verve were up there to be as big as oasis but egos has ruined both bands
Proper fans interview, how refreshing. Love Ashcroft. His musics not that great anymore.Hes better working in a collaborative effort. Bring back the verve !
spinal tap
One wears sunglasses in the dark to hide what usually? Comment below with your reasons 😁
Lee D
One wears sunglasses indoors for one of three reasons.
1; shyness.
2; you've been up all night on a chemically induced buzz.
3; you're a bit of a pretentious poser.
@@cowboyjoefrommexico-elsete3434 haha correct
I wear mine indoors,who cares.
@@rodschermerhorn6996 Must be sunny in your house then. It's like wearing a coat while the heatings on
Its not just him,a lot of Hollywood and musicians do the same thing where i live.
Richard is too Woke for today's Generation..
rrliled Nice investment, bob marley Smoked alot of weed, But he was Still Woke, Are you still sleeping? Its ok ☕
Sunglasses indoors!!
Pretentious? Not much!!
Is Ashcroft selling ice cream now?
Lol
He's just so ridiculous these days, so up his own arse. It's hilarious.
TrainInVain dick
Tim Matthews You have a pish taste in music Timothy
TrainInVain u do. Ashcroft is a legend
Tim Matthews Early Verve period maybe, now he's just bland pish. I was referring to your playlist on your page - Sigma, Bastille, Rudimental, Jess Glynne. Have a word with yourself you fucking melon.
Baa baa 🐑
Pretentious.
Projecting... You
Great interview but why is the interviewer bumming Noel and hating on liam typical gay
Something very pretentious about some of this. Plus interviewer agreeing with everything he says.
Plus very posey with the sunglasses indoors.
You're projecting mate...
Boring
Does anybody else think Ashcroft interviews are crap and boring. His music is half alright tho.
