Do you ask your friends to pray for you? The saints in heaven are our friends and closer to God than any of our earthly friends. Also, nowhere in the Bible does it say to follow only the Bible. Jesus founded a Church: the Catholic Church.

His poetry is like a sea of light and Eternal Bliss.

I had to give that up after serving for a short time. I am close to my 60th birthday. Dying inside not knowing why until now. But literally dying from a neurological disorder. Today 17th of December 2023 the 3rd Sunday of Advent This beautiful story of St John of the Cross suddenly appeared on my screen Gave me such consolation of what I have been feeling lately after the death of my husband and I left the most beautiful job entrusted to me that is being a Scripture teacher for a great part of my life. I am seeking and praying asking God for guidance where is my place, how do I continue serving Him specifically true Scriptures. Although I am no expert or scholar. I long to continue serving Him in what He wills.

It was so good to see Leonardo again. Excellent film. Good editing. The dialogue was good too: not easy to speak such words, words that most people don't use everyday, and certainly not within the religious context; yet, it was convincing. I knew Leonardo when he came to England before he made this film, when he did a one-man play on St John of the Cross. Seeing him again brings back happy memories. Fr John McGowan o.c.d.

The 10th of September at 1:30am, lying all alone in my bedroom, I found this wonderful movie. Over the last couple of months, at the age of 68, I have been searching for a Religious Third Order I could join in contemplative prayer. And this movie confirms my heart’s desire that it should be the Lay Carmelites that i should join! Thank you! 🙏🏻

I watch this movie over and over and it carries me on as I do my study of John of the Cross and write down the words of the most moving dialogue from the movie. I love how he refers to Jesus as his Beloved, so much love in that word. I'm coming to use it more and more as it brings love into my soul. Have anybody wondered how many Saints are out there and have been in the past in this world of ours. ? Thousands and every saint has their beautiful and unique story to tell you have to take some time and research them You have to stop and wonder
sometimes of all the thousands of saints that there have been there has to be a God with no out doubt.
St Teresa of Avila is one of thousands, Many are saints of the Discalced Carmelites, and many women OCD'''s who pray and follow St. John of the Cross. He prays for us when we are sincere in our desire for union w/ God. He and many of the OCD saints suffered for and w/ our Beloved.

Very inspiring and beautiful presentation credits to the participants in the movie
This was SO beautifully made! I immediately loved the character portraying John of the Cross. Leonardo is a master in portraying this type of contemplative. His portrayal of St. Maximillian Kolby was also excellent, and notably, as the father of Therese' De Lisieux, in THERESE'.
And, his family apparently are taking cues from him 😄
As for St. John, I can relate at least somewhat with the story of his experience in the monastery, and being ridiculed by Friars of let's say, less than optimal allegiance to the expectations of a Religious. I won't recount all of that here, though. I also admire and long for John of the Cross' desire for holiness and perfection. I also am a contemplative, who has made strides, but have a long way to go to reach the heights this Saint had, that's for SURE!
I have heard of his poetry, but haven't delved into it at all as of yet.. I will remedy THAT!
