You know what I appreciate about this guitar? Besides the sleek build, the EMGs. So rare to find EMG 81 and 85s on high end guitars these days when back in the 00s everybody and their grandma wanted them in guitars

Jackson is too stupid and greedy to put reverse headstocks on USA soloists. Now USA soloists are coming with crummy 1500 Floyd roses and EMGs and a $2600 price tag. I’m done with Jackson and this is coming from a guy with 12 Jacksons that he’s played since the early 80s when Grover was making them instead of Fender. 🤬🤮
That matte green color scheme looks beautiful! While I'm more of a Schechter guy myself, ESPs and Jacksons are still great in my book.

I do believe the quality matters... but 2600 is a hard no. I've really found Schecs and Corts to really bring the value and quality value. Does look killer though.
For Jackson I was surprised not to see a $3999 price tag. Not that I want this one either, but I was shocked to see the letters USA and $2,599 in the same sentance.
How much does a les paul or prs cost or fender usa strat cost? the Jackson is actually kinda inexpensive for jackson usa, easy to find them or get them much cheaper as well. also this is a Jackson, not a schecter or cort, MAJOR difference

Wish I could afford one I'm a Jackson fan. Just got my first LTD after years of owning only Jackson, the M1000 in candy apple red and I am blown away by the quality. Also it kinda looks like Mick Thomson's blood red USA Jackson soloist. I agree on the foam core cases I own 3 and they are perfect for light storage and travel. And they are compact hard cases usually take up so much room.
Just find one used. I got a E-ii arrow in silver black fade for 1350 in November. Also gotten a USA Jackson DK1 for 2k. I'm doing payments on the jackson but it's worth it. I like the LTD 1000 series but the E-iis blow it away

Great video, sick guitar, and Jackson is killing it lately. I recently bought a pro series dinky dk2. Never been into Jackson but bought it on a whim to branch out. It has literally become the guitar I play everyday now. Would not hesitate to buy another Jackson. Keep up the great videos!

At that price point that should be a original Floyd rose other than that I like it
The 1500 series has stainless steel parts though that last longer and it stays in tune just as well as the original. The 1500 series is killer

lol, people and their original floyd rose syndrome, i have a 1500 on 2012 mij charvel pro mod so cal, as good or better than any floyd rose original i have or have had, i think the specs say 1500 or 2000, it actually looks more like 1000, its great whatever it is, i want the hipshot fixed version of the new usa soloist thoi got a pyle of mij jacksons with floyd rose and jt580lp, they all still work and stay in tune great,i only have one hardtail jackson a 2000 DR6, and i am good on trems for a while lol
@@tankdarla637 you can be a fan boy of the 1000 and 1500 all you want,but they are not the same as a original,sorry not sorry but it’s true.the original trem arm is milled at higher specs so you don’t get that loose arm wiggle in them.
A Gotoh Floyd would have been fine as well. I’ve found them to be just as good if not better than the made in Germany Original Floyds.
Mine came in yesterday! Exact same one. Sounds and plays fantastic straight out of the box!

Love the colors on this. Inverted inlays are bad ass too. I played a Jackson soloist and I preferred the ESP style neck vs the Jackson neck. Idk maybe I’m crazy but the Jackson neck felt uncomfortable compared to. Regardless of my personal opinion/ preference this thing is bad ass and you know im stoked to see the full setup video 😅
I can agree that the Jackson neck's feel different than ESP's, and it caught me off guard at first. I got used to them quickly though, and still like them both!
You're one of the quintessential ESP players in my mind, but I love seeing you check out other sick guitars from other brands. Your reviews and insights, and especially your demoes, are awesome.

I’m actually about to put a hardtail version on layaway this weekend. I played the orange Floyd version and just absolutely fell in love with the neck. I actually like it way more than my schecters and LTDs
does the neck feel like one of the satin ibanez necks? like the bare wood? is it smooth and fast?

I currently play the Jackson dinky which is a beautiful guitar for pretty cheap but that is a sweet guitar
I've always like the look of Dinky's, but I've yet to try one out!

I'm watching this video for the 2nd time because I really enjoy the sound and look of this 🪓. BTW great choice in colors with olive drab. I looked up the guitar and saw what you said. There is this exact guitar a 💯 dollars off for the set neck. That would be my preference but you use that Floyd Rose religiously. Best pickup combination on earth with EMG 81 and 85. Everything is flawlessly crafted and put together. Has that classic Jackson look from the 1980s-early 1990s. In all sincerity this is the first Jackson that really interested me in a very long time.. Hope you use it in further vids.

Great video Rob, really digging these Jacksons you've had on the channel recently. If you were to spec out a "Rob Arnold Jackson", what specs would it have? How would it differ from your ESP signature model? Thanks and keep up the great content and monster riffage.
Thanks dude! I haven't really thought about it, and I think it's something I would focus on only if it were to become a reality. Since I'm a pretty stuck in my ways type of guy, I think there'd obviously be many similar components that I consider tried and true!
Reminds me of the original "student" model soloist that didn't have the binding on the neck and headstock.
I would always swap the position of the 81 and 85 because the 85 sounded better in the bridge.
The price is ridiculous tho' you can find a used 90s or 2000s for 1/2 the price.

$2600 is a LOT, but like everything else the price of guitars is skyrocketing. I agree with you about buying quality gear though, and buying your exact live rig (USA 6505+, Mesa 4x12, 2 Decimators) is the best decision I’ve ever made! Just as you said, it calls me to play through it EVERY day. It’s the only thing I’ve ever had that the excitement has not diminished at all (have had it a little over 2 years now), I wind up just hitting an open chord and stare at the cab as it rings out in amazement! 🤘

@@RobArnoldWorld buy the JS12 dinky! For a cheap guitar its plays beautifully.. intonate and set it up when you get it and see what you think. I have one loaded with an emg 81, and a boss katana with a Vintage V30 speaker, the tone you can get for such a cheap rig is incredible!

I saw Throwdown play at the Showcase circa 2012-2013 when I was stationed in California; it was an awesome show. Ended up getting stitches after getting cracked in the head in the pit haha. That was a fun one to try to explain to my first sergeant come Monday morning!

@@RobArnoldWorld hey that’s fair! I can’t imagine what a Jackson with the RA-600 look, would look like. Me personally I’d do a shell pink pearlescent color shift, with a flame maple fingerboard with a single inlay on the 12th fret of a coffin, matching headstock with the old school toothpaste font Jackson logo, with a gold Floyd original, gold hipshot open gear locking tuners and a set of gold engraved Seymour Duncan distortion’s with a white pearloid pick guard

Can you pick up one of those Hipshot bridges and throw them on any hardtail? I’d be more inclined to buy hardtail Jackson’s and Ibanez’s if the saddle corners and the saddle screws weren’t so pointy

Depends on the guitar. I swapped the bridge on my hard tail strat and it was a perfect fit, same screw holes and everything. Hipshots have three screws under the saddles.
If you buy a hardtail with four screws (one on each corner) you’ll have to drill new holes and the front holes from the old bridge will still show.

The hardtail version of this guitar comes with a Hipshot bridge stock.

Great video man and I think it’s so cool you play all those Metallica riffs (and even threw in some Blitzkrieg!). I want this exact guitar but wanted to see your thoughts on buying this vs a fender tone master pro + LTD Black Metal vs 2 LTD guitars? I've always thought as a pure metal guitarist that the Floyd Rose are kinda pointless, especially the tunning drama. But yet all of your guitars seem to have that bridge. What is the reason having it instead of a tune o'matic bridge with the strings pulled through the body?
Growing up, I felt like all the incredibly talented and creative guitarists of the 80's rocked cool looking guitars with whammy bars! So I wanted to do the same!
Plus, there's many riffs in my music that incorporate the bar, that wouldn't be the same without it! Take a listen to the verse riff in Chimaira's "The Venom Inside" for example. 🎸
Have you try the soloist baritone? Ships in B standard with 12-54 but I’m going to get it setup in drop C with 10-52

You should compare it to a 7 string. Then you can always use it for drop C if you don’t like it in A like I did

I've yet to try an MJ SL2, so I'm not sure! They're both higher end guitars though, so I don't think you could go wrong with either!
Love it - thinking about it - but the headstock is underwhelming - looks cheap (?) needs the abalone there surely. ESP / E-II has this at the same price point. Love Jackson but just saying.
For that price it should come with a gram of gold. 😁
Is it just me that ebony fretboard don't look as dark as before? It's moreover looks like mix of ebony and rosewood.
I agree! I have many other guitars with darker ebony. Perhaps certain batches of wood are darker than others? Not sure!
@RobArnoldWorld is it normal to have black stains (like black polish) on your hands after playing an ebony fretboard? Again, it is something that I do not recall of happening.
@@aark69if you see a pitch black ebony board on a guitar under about $3k today it’s likely dyed black and it coming off on your hands isn’t uncommon. Worldwide ebony stock has been seriously depleted and where they can source ebony legally and sustainably these days, the trees there do not produce woods in huge quantities with pure black coloring. So the stuff that is is extremely expensive and a number of brands are more out these days to use what they can which is more streaked or color varied and skipping the dye step. Personally I don’t mind it, looks fine IMO and we should be encouraging more sustainable materials in guitar building (like Richlite boards).
Having black stains on my hands is something I've never experienced from an ebony board!

does the neck feel like one of the satin ibanez necks? like the bare wood? is it smooth and fast?
It's painted, but not gloss. So yes, it feels like natural satin in my opinion, and is very smooth and fast!

Just put in an order for one of these OD green Soloists, but I opted for the hardtail instead of the Floyd. Tempted to put a sticker of my old regiment from my time in the Army on it to go with the green paint. Love the channel, keep up the great work!

I think with the price jacksons cost today ... they should make / put their own custom shop pickups ... instead of EMG / duncans ... (or at least put the newer X or 57/66/ - SH15/ SH16 ) ... we are bored of those pickups ........ come on jackson you can do better !!!
