I always find it interesting that the moment of hesitation that Buffy describes and the peace of mind that comes from "at least it's finally over" is the same hesitation that Spike described last season regarding how he was able to kill 2 slayers.
I quite like how we see Hank in this episode, in the way that it shows that him not showing up in recent episodes isn't because they couldnt get the actor, but that the writers definitely decided that he actually is a deadbeat absent parent. We never see much of Buffy realising or dealing with this, but just another thing to add to her current list of traumas
The best theory I've heard is that it had something to do with the Monk's memory spell/retcon, and the monks essentially writing him out of the picture to simplify things.
@@ianburns1167 They didn't have to alter much. He was already absent after mid-S2. The lack of Buffy's family besides Joyce and Dawn really stands out more on rewatches.
The Weight Of The World is a brilliant penultimate episode to the stunning Finale which I believe is the best episode of the whole show. Buffy being in a catatonic state allows Willow to enter her mind and bring her back from traumatic stress for the final battle. The news from Giles is another body blow for Buffy that the only way to stop Glory is for Dawn to die as she is The Key. The writers do a great job here showing the pain and stress of depression which Buffy is now acutely feeling. You can feel the tension now building in every way, get ready for episode 100, which has a incredible intro sequence, and utterly brilliant, but heart breaking ending.
Willow has always been Buffy's general. Even before she had powers, she always stepped up and executed a plan and put some order on the gang, ever since season 2, staring with doing the spell for Angel and telling everyone what they need to do while she does it. When Buffy left in the "Anne" episode, she was the one organizing everyone when they were fighting vamps. The scene between Ben and Glory was amazing acting and editing.
buffy actually told her friends "death is my gift" as soon as she got back from the desert. they were just too busy accusing her of sleeping with spike to actually listen to her.
You *should* feel proud of yourself!! I've watched so many BtVS reactors and not a single one made the connection back to that one seemingly-throwaway line about "Summers blood" in the Blood Ties episode to predict the finale. In fact, I don't know of a single fan who made that connection before it was sprung on us. Bravo! Buffy's ferocious level of self-judgement and accompanying guilt should not be surprising. In Season 2, Episode 19, I Only Have Eyes For You, her psyche tells her that she "killed" Angel to the point she can't forgive herself, not even by proxy. Here, when she just thinks for a second that there's no hope, that she should give up, her psyche tells her she's "killed" Dawn.
I think I let you know this before but the lizard man is Joel Grey, one of the most acclaimed musical theater talents on stage through the 1970s and is father of Jennifer Grey of "Dirty Dancing" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off". Joel Grey can be sweet, charming and just darling, or menacing to varying degrees, which made him perfect for the 1970s stage and screen production of "Cabaret". Here he is in two of many examples of his range: ruclips.net/video/5QftCUabrZA/видео.html ruclips.net/video/hBlB8RAJEEc/видео.html
Really enjoy watching the Ben/Glory argument in the alley and how they manage all those transitions - each one is a little different. Cool direction/editing; reminiscent of the climax of Fool for Love.
Haven’t started your actual reaction yet but thank you for the TV recommendation! I watch the British baking show with my 10 year old daughter, and had no idea there was a junior version, she will be so excited!❤️
I wonder how your "once someone is acknowledged to be dead, they shouldn't come back" attitude was affected by the next episode... among other episodes that Editing Domi has watched by now. o_O
Glory ruled her hell dimension with two other gods, so she may have only been able to get a few subjects to follow her. And considering the fact that they defeated her, many were probably not willing to risk picking her side.
@16:25 "Stop showing me Buffy!" You do realise your watching a show called Buffy... Just saying. PS. Loving your reactions. Also, for some reason(s), unknown to me, I've watched your The Body reaction about 6 times.
Posting my BUFFY REWATCH recap for ‘The Weight Of The World’. May contain spoilers. Buffy’s out of commission as she’s gone into a catatonic state. With the loss of their leader and time running out to rescue Dawn, Willow immediately takes the initiative to take command of the Gang, as she often does when Buffy is AWOL. Willow gives out orders to everyone, already having come up with a plan to save Dawn and to stop Glory in one fell swoop, showing she’s competent at leadership. At taking charge and executing a procedure while Buffy is absent. This is one of the reasons why I believe Willow to be an INTP in the Myers-Briggs 16 personality types system. INTP leaders often lead or manage out of necessity more than anything else. They will not take leadership unless they have to. And I can absolutely attest to that as I am an INTP myself. Whether Willow is one also is obviously debatable but I do believe so - not just because of this personality trait but a few other personality traits of hers too - as well as her being exceedingly academically and intuitively intelligent She observes things other characters do not and as such, has attention-to-detail where it counts. What I’ve noticed is in situations like this in the show,... as soon as Willow takes leadership, the Gang follow her lead instinctively just as they do with Buffy. But there is a HUGE difference between the two that many fans on here have pointed out. Buffy has no choice but to do it. Willow does. She chooses to do it. Thus, Willow always chooses to be the leader - but only in the absence of Buffy, And this is a very important detail to remember going into the start of Season 6 when Willow takes lead indefinitely.
@@Shadowman4710Lots of kids hair gets darker as they get older. But also- I thought Buffy is supposed to be a natural blonde (I am aware that SMG is not).
“Willow literally forces herself into her mind”. Yeah. On brand for her. At least it’s for the Greater Good this time though. Well done on predicting the finale past Domi.
I always thought Willow could of had her own show, Willow the Wican Witch, lol. or a kinda charmed show spin off in the same universe. could still work
Oh man, your angst is so entertaining! Sorry all this drama hits you so hard(hugs) but it's truly entertaining and I look forward to so much more. Oooh I see on your Patreon you started Bomb Girls. A little unknown gem of a show.
I think the Joel Grey demon character knew Dawn was the key in the previous episode. We know that serpent/lizard based creatures can see the key's aura or whatever and he fits that category. When he gives Dawn the resurrection spell, he touches her and his eyes flash like the big snake creature's did in Shadow when it recognized Dawn in the Magic Shop.
For some reactors, in some series, yes - the longer the series, the wider the spread can be. Editing for YT posting can apparently be a huge hassle and thus take longer for each episode than the easier posting to Patreon, and so they get further and further behind.

I love that Willow admits Spike was right about how to handle Buffy. He also remembered Glory and Ben seemed to have some type of connection. 🤣
Yes, obviously, but what kind?

Wait, there's a connection between Glory and Ben?
Why would there be a connection between Ben and Glory?
Spike was right in the gas station, and it's a way to remind us that's he was right about the slayer's death wish in "fool for love"
