Because I see many people asking about GMs (or federal MS in general), none of the Federal OYW units really fit with this topic. The Federation was pretty smart when it came to the GMs, the units meant for mass production were mass produced and the Ace Units I see a lot of people commenting about (GM Sniper Custom, GM Sniper II, GM Light Armor) were intended as limited production ace units from the start (rather than cancelled mass production units, what this video is about) The only GM that I can think of that's debatable is the GM Command. How much it was actually produced seems to depend on the source, but a lot of sidestories seem to imply that it was used and produced enough prior to 0083 to be considered a full scale mass production unit. PS: Part 2 will feature Federal MS
Descriptions I read often point to the Gm Command being a "Low production, Commander use Mobile Suit". It's pretty much a higher performance general purpose mobile suit that isn't particularly outstanding but better than vanilla GM for sure.
I've actually heard it argued this is what won the Federation the war. Zeon spent so much time developing all these different Mass Production designs, completely re-inventing the wheel with practically each one... and then when the design was finalized abandoning it in favor of a competing design. Goufs, Gyans, Efreets, Zudahs, Zaku High Mobility type, Act Zaku, Zaku III... they wasted so much time developing and testing these suits that by the time they hit upon the Gelgoog (Which was superior to pretty much anything the Federation had - It even matched up well against the RX-78, but was mass-produceable) they had run out of time. Conversely, the Federation came up with a workable design - The GM - And then stuck with it, modifying and improving it as needed, maintaining parts commonality and making it increasingly easy to crank out, as well as ensuring that all of their pilots were familiar with how to handle them, even as variants were introduced. Their performance was typically not at the level of Zeon suits, but as the battle of A Baoa Qu demonstrated, the GMs were ripping apart the vastly superior Gelgoogs because the Federation pilots were experienced with their machines, and had tactics down and the numbers to back up the operation. When the Federation needed an Ace machine, they turned it into a propaganda thing and built a Gundam (Which, thanks to Amuro and the RX-78, doubled as a terror weapon near the end of the war) which was intended as a one-off testbed prototype crammed with every neat trick they could think of and only possible for the very best pilots to handle.
@@IsilmeTuruphant Thing is, Zeon was at a disadvantage the moment that the GMs rolled out for two main reasons: The EF had the budget, materials AND the numbers on their side (particularly in Space where Balls were dirt cheap to pair them up with) once they understood enough about MS technology; And second was the fact that the GM Beam Guns were spread fire (this tends to be left overlooked in OYW arguments, but a crude beam 'shotgun' was going to give almost all but the thickest Zeon suits trouble from any angle due to a lack of proper beam shielding at the time). Experience wasn't really as much of a factor either when some of the Zeon top aces either used little more than Zaku variants, or just kept up to date with the units and make the most of them, which is kind of a big deal when you're on the side that innovated MS technology to begin with, so Zeon pilots on average had greater experience. Also remember that while the GM had comparatively lousy performance and quality of parts compared to the Gundam and Guncannon, they were above Zakus and at worst on par with the Goufs performance-wise while still being somewhat tougher in general (Gundarium > Titanium Composite > High Tensile Steel). That being said, also keep in mind that the complaints about the GMs came about because the main bulk of the EF pilots felt that with every new unit that the Zeons brought to the field, they had a much harder and harder time taking them on even with their relative advantages. It was such a clamor for superior units that led to the GM Sniper II and other excellent machines in the first place because the Gundam itself proved that they had the technology to do way better (yes, Amuro brought out the most of it to the point it needed a joint treatment to maximize response time and reduce wear, but his father Tem still made an excellent and fairly powerful MS that would be largely unmatched in overall performance until the Gelgoogs finally came along after trial and error). It also hardly seems fair to refer to the Gundam as a one-off when it had a direct expanded legacy with the RX-79(G) that was built from Project-V spare parts, and there were roughly 20 of those in active service.
Just to remind everyone, Ramba Ral actually requested to replace his Gouf with a Dom and in the games mentioned in the video you can actually over turn the guy who denied Ral's request. Ral gets his custom Dom (by that it's just painted signature blue from what I recall) and he actually succeeds in destroying the RX-78-2, but Amorou survives. Ral loved his Gouf, but he was brilliant enough to know when he needed it replaced.

Honestly, if the Federation had up armored and up gunned the Ball unit with with multi directional thrusters, I could definitely see it compete with the front line Zakus. One of these units wouldn't have been able to take on a Zaku one on one, but given their ease of production and (I am assuming) lower price, the Federation would have swarmed the Zakus.
Carl Ewen-Lewis yes exactly if only more capability were given to the ball it would have been enough to go against any mobile suits We can make it more powerful if you make some variants of the ball unmanned controlled by one ball which is manned then that swarming tactics would make a more powerful version of funnels

Gouf Custom... Respect for Norris Packard, Love Miss Aina, and it's got the same weapons (among many other similarities)as my favorite MS, the Gouf Flight Type.
I actually wondered who'd win in a battle that takes place in a city An RX78-NT1 (Gundam Alex) with a newtype pilot Or a Gouf custom with magnetic coating and the exam system
Assuming NT1 is fully equipped with its armor, Gouf would be at the losing end as it requires a full chain mine to remove the armor as shown in 0080 war in the pocket and the Gouf custom does not have that in its standard loadout (though it can still use it). Assuming NT1 is naked, it would be a draw as NT1 have already incorporated the magnetic coating in its frame. Taking into account of the pilot, exam system have a safety limit of 5 minute, making the Gouf at the disadvantage in a drag out fight.
Definitely the gouf custom would be my go to if I was an ace in the one year war, I've used it in Gundam battle operations and it easily became one of my best mobile suits in the game.

Especially since Zeon had already done most of the Feddies research for them. Hell Prof. Minovsky used to work with Zeon until he ditched them for the Federation because he didn't like how Zeon was abusing his research.
Hunting white base is only a small fraction on why Zeon screw up. The Zaku 2 was not meant for ground combat in the first place, heavy development in the aquatic MS when EFF does not have key locations in the sea, production line issue as they keep jumping from MS to MS resulting a bleeding loss of resources, internal fighting, name a few.
As much as I love me the Gouf Custom, the Efreet Nacht takes my heart every time. Stealth coating and multi range capability, just give it a 90mm machine gun and the Gouf's shield and it'd be perfect. Oh, and on the other side of the conflict would be the Hrududu Hazel or some combination of the Hazels.
I'd just like to point out to you that an old obese short man with a mustache had better accuracy hitting the RX-78-2 Gundam with a shoulder dome than the majority of Zaku II pilots with a rapid fire machinegun.

Can you imagine the Gouf or Efreet got a space variant? It probably would've been like a Zaku II high mobility type, but with extra focus on close combat. That's a scary thought.
I still remember how heavily I customized the specs of the Efreet Nacht in battlefield record. I actually used it everywhere even space, kept up with my friends gelgoog. something about the nacht having a radar jammer combined with it's dark frame made it perfect for me in space. (that said i did have to update it's loadout a bit to work in space)
I feel like the Efreet would probably be my personal preferred model here, as it was a general purpose design with fairly good mobility and solid customization options. The Nacht version would be my ideal choice, due to stronger stealth capabilities than just your standard Minovsky interference. As for any missed options... I feel like outside of these, I can't think of one. The federation units completed and used during the war kinda don't fall into this catagory unless you assume the Gundam itself was intended for true mass production.
Kampfers had excellent speed and mobility AMD ridonkulous firepower, but tissuepaper armor. Still, you can't hit what you can't catch! If it had beam weapons it would have been scary!
I don't think Kampfer was ever intended for mass production. I think it was supposed to be a limited production hit and run designed suit. That being said, it would have been amazing to see a squad of Kampfers armed to the teeth fighting.
If I were a Zeon ace pilot with my pick of the stable, I would want an MS-11 Act Zaku, also known as the "Action Zaku." Developed concurrently with the MS-14 Gelgoog and MS-15 Gyan, the MS-11 was intended as a direct followup to the venerable MS-06 Zaku II, updated with bleeding edge refinements including an improved reactor capable of driving beam weapons, as well as a magnetic coating system similar to that used by the RX-78NT-1 Gundam Alex. As a result, the Act Zaku was one of Zeon's fastest, most responsive machines; unfortunately, only a handful were produced at the Pezun asteroid fortress before the end of the war. When Federation forces captured the blueprints, however, they were impressed enough to order it into mass production for their own use; a number of these machines saw service with the EFF and Titans during the Gryps War in UC 0087.
I love the Efreet line. Especially the Nacht with it's jamming system and the Schneid, whose pilot is one of the very few Zeon remnants who survived the Torrington assault, despite only being armed with heat knives.
All of this interesting shit makes Gundam so much more immersive. I didn't realize the writers and animators went into this much detail until I found your channel. Please keep making great content.

Be sure not to *OVERHEAT* yourself now. Gelgoog: HAHAHAHAHA Zaku 2 high mobility type R2: HAHAHAHAHA Zuda F: -______-
I put my faith on the Gouf Custom. Exceptionally nimble, magnetic cord to paralyze opponents, and it brings terror in the battlefield, and who wouldn't like that gattling gun? It's a damn mid range to close quarter assassin mecha!
I really enjoy these history lessons, brother. Thanks for great and informative videos! I gotta have to say I'd take the Gouf Custom. It's my favorite Zeke suit, also the Kampfer.
For efreet you forgot another 1,the Efreet Jaeger from Code Fairy, specialized in Long Range battle, this Efreet was customed as a Sniper Unit for the Ace Sniper female pilot from the noisy fairy squadron,Helena Hegel
I've always thought I'd be a zeonic soldier on the ground, so I'd go with a customized Efreet. Replace the double heat swords with two of the Zaku 2's heat hawks, give it a pair of shotguns, and a bazooka.
The One Eye mobile suits look highly intelligent. Would want to Pilot the one that is shown to duel Amuro Ray near the start of the video. Dom and Zaku are follow ups amazing ones. Nice presentation too though !
Definitely would love to have piloted the Gouf Custom! It's been my favorite non-Gundam mobile suit for years. Also, gotta give some love to the aquatic Hygog. Outside of that one scene in 0080, barely any Hygogs were deployed that I know of.
Hail Zeon!!! I am a Gouf pilot at heart. I pilot a red and silver Gouf Custom in GBO2. I would show pictures of it but I cant on here. Though Ive pilot several other MS such as the Prototype Gundam, Hizack, Heavy Gundam, Gelgoog, and the Kampfer, the Gouf Custom is my absolute favorite and most preferred MS. It was because of the anime MSG The 8th MS Team that I came to love the Gouf Custom. All my MS bear my red and silver color scheme with the Zeon emblem or word mark on them somewhere along with a 08 number designation (8 was my sports number and coincidentally, its the same logo as the 8th Mobile Suit Team of the Earth Federation Ground Forces lead by Shiro Amada) regardless the MS like its my trademark or signature.
You left out Lance Garfield's Gouf custom. Man was a beast even with one arm. You know you stuff though. Color me impressed. I'd pilot a GM sniper II though because it'd wipe the floor with this whole list
Gotta give biggest props to the Efreet Schneid for it's personal history and for not just surviving the battle of Torrington in 0096, but surviving contact with the Byarlant Custom from that same battle.
Favorite is still the Gouf Custom, Perfect for Urban Combat, Close Quarters Combat, plus Flexabile Armaments. Plus it gave me one of my all time favorite Gundam battles The Efreet is a close 2nd, however outside the EXAM equip one I haven't seen enough action with them to give a full complement
In the Gihren's Greed games I generally find the Gyan line to be a lot scarier than the Gelgoog line. Part of it is due to the game's combat system, where a weapon with a range of 0 is close quarters (e.g. beam sabers, heat hawks), a range of 1 is a long range weapon (e.g. beam rifles, beam spray guns) while a range of 2 and above is for sniping weapons or artillery (e.g. beam sniper rifles, 180mm cannons). A Gelgoog still has to be right next to an enemy unit to use both its beam rifle and beam naginata, so the beam weapon advantage isn't as pronounced. I mean, it'll probably kill whatever it's fighting before it even needs the naginata, but it also risks damage. The Gyans are the same, except once they get into close combat those beam swords of their's... hoo boy. I also find they're a bit better at dodging, I'm assuming because they're supposed to get close ASAP and so have better thrusters. So to recap, generally the Gelgoog lines have an advantage in long range thanks to beam weapons, but the Gyans will slice up almost anything in close quarters.
it makes me happy that the Dom is the reason so many of these failed to enter mass production. Dom is the best Zeon mobile suit and no one can tell me otherwise.
I love your videos in general, but I think the bit I like most is that each one starts with “this program is brought to you by our sponsors” in Japanese.
The competition between EMS- 04 and MS- 05 was inspired by WWII German Luftwaffe competition HE-112 and the BF- 109. HE- 112 lost the competition against the BF- 109, and the company soon developed a new airplane base on HE-112 to beat the BF- 109 called the HE- 100, which chose hundred as its lucky number. Obviously, HE-100 lost again, HE- 100 only receive a small production for outport. At the later war, the HE- 100 had given the code name HE- 113 for propaganda proposes as the new secret weapon to defect the allies.
The BD units weren't mass production though. All of the EXAM units were unique, that's why the plot of the series was about destroying all of the units.
the thing is that most writers focused more on zeeks rather than federation due to their fucked up logistics rather than streamlining MS designs. I do agree that there is a large lack of Ace non-gundam units in the Federation. Though, it shows that the late war GM models proved well on an Ace pilot's hand.
God this was amazing, hope for Feddies part to this video series and hands down I will pick the Efreet, most preferably have one customized for all around combat
The gouf custom, so I can say GET OVER HERE! also I'd hope to use the grappling hook as a webslinger if my thrusters die off, although that would probably break it :/
Hah, I'd still take Kampfer over all of these! But if I had to choose, I'd go with the Efreet Custom or Gouf Custom and together with the Kampfer can make a 'Three Musketeers' sort of team. I've thought of making a diorama of them looking like musketeers or nomads for a long long time...
there is other Gouf B3 (Gouf Custom) that deadly enough it managed to hold 3 high performance MS (2 Rick Doms and 1 Galbady Alpha), the name is White Rose, piloted by single handed Lt. Lance Garfield, featured in manga "Plan to Assasinate Gihren"
What about the Gundam type mobile suits from 8th MS Team aren’t they mass produced units or did they just not do anything remarkable(like were they just fancy GMs), I’m not familiar with anything outside of the main series or OVAs so I wouldn’t know
The RX79G Gundam Ground type was more like the recycle of parts from the left over Project V as a stop gap for the full fledged production of the RGM-79 GM series as well as testing and refine the issues.
not really the RX-78[G] was a cost reduced version of the RX-78-2 Gundam it had luna titanium armoring but only on vital areas like the generator and cockpit.
@@genisisbeing correct me if I am wrong, gundam ground type was assign as model number rx79g, not rx78g. It was not just a cost reduce version of the rx78, but a recycle of parts of the left over project v to fit more towards ground combat role as that time eff is still building everything on their own rather than sub contract them out.
And with all of this cool suits,Char still choose Zaku II as his best suit and finally turned into a suit that Char didn't pilot, the Psycho Zaku...What a history
A reminder that Char's Zaku came from stock Zaku. The only difference is that Char reprogrammed the response time of his Zaku to fit with his piloting skill. Also he's naturally talented in piloting mobile suit.

If im not mistaken, the Kamphfer is a specific role unit rather than a unit design to mass produce.
Kampfers had excellent speed and mobility AMD ridonkulous firepower, but tissuepaper armor. Still, you can't hit what you can't catch! If it had beam weapons it would have been scary!
@@miafillene4396 spec wise, it can use beam weapons.
Zeon gets all the love. (I'm not blaming you man! Awesome vid!)
*ZEON BIAS!!*
Zaku 2 high mobility type R2, Gelgoog and Zuda F ( *sitting on the bench during a hot day and licking their ice pop* )
Zuda F: Man today is surely hot isn't it?
Zaku 2 high mobility type R2 and Gelgoog: It sure is.
( *the continue to eating their ice pop* )
Zuda F: Well guys I gotta go now so talk to you later.
Zaku 2 high mobility type R2: Wait! Be sure not to *OVERHEAT* yourself now.
Gelgoog: HAHAHAHAHA
Zaku 2 high mobility type R2: HAHAHAHAHA
Zuda F: -______-
I'd probably go with the Efreet. Looks really good, especially with those Heat Sabers.
Well, none of these, I wouldn't want to be a Zeke. :P
Okay, so, if I *had* to be one, probably the Gyan.
Me too. I prefer the Kamphfer but it's not listed here. Oh well High Mobility Gyan then.
Personally I would prefer Gyan Kai (kinda post-OYW but who can't love the giant beam sword)
Give me a Hildolf.
I put my faith on the Gouf Custom. Exceptionally nimble, magnetic cord to paralyze opponents, and it brings terror in the battlefield, and who wouldn't like that gattling gun? It's a damn mid range to close quarter assassin mecha!
not bad...not bad..you're content is amusing and understandable with enough info and the tone use to explain is just right
Good job kakarot 197
Zudah's design is one of my all time favorite, really appreciate that you gave a spotlight for it.
I really enjoy these history lessons, brother. Thanks for great and informative videos! I gotta have to say I'd take the Gouf Custom. It's my favorite Zeke suit, also the Kampfer.
the gyan not being mass produced can be summed up in one phrase : God damn it M'quve.
I would grab the blue zaku...
Ramba: it's no zaku boi! No zaku!
O-okay...
Gouf custom and yell NO ZAKU BOI all day in public radio
Watched this video twice now...good job!!
Gouf Custom is probably still my favorite unit, though I see myself as an MS-06-R1A kinda guy. Norris was just too godly in the custom.
Ah, the Gouf Custom. Proof that volume of fire will always trump single shot marksmanship
I love these vids. Really well put together.
Ace vid Kakarot, really enjoyed that 👍 Like a bit of lore
For efreet you forgot another 1,the Efreet Jaeger from Code Fairy, specialized in Long Range battle, this Efreet was customed as a Sniper Unit for the Ace Sniper female pilot from the noisy fairy squadron,Helena Hegel
gouf custom without a doubt. the suit was an absolute beast. the high grade is also surprisingly heavy
love your Encounter in Space track roll.
I've always thought I'd be a zeonic soldier on the ground, so I'd go with a customized Efreet. Replace the double heat swords with two of the Zaku 2's heat hawks, give it a pair of shotguns, and a bazooka.
Gouf Custom: excellent balance between firepower and mobility, while still retaining decent armor.
Grinning at the gouf info
Gouf Custom + Norris Packard = Awesome. Hope we get to see more of him, maybe in The Origin.
Most if not all of the ones on this list I'd pilot, they're unique in their own way :)
Definitely Gouf Custom, in love with it since 08th came out!
Aw man I'd pilot the Efreet EXAM any day just to fight the Blue Destiny Unit 1.
Any EXAM MS is walking war crime. Also sharing a MS with a toured Newtype ghost does not sounds healthy.
You would go insane
Nah dude i prefer ALICE
A ai that become your partner during war and will protect you by pilot the mobile suit you piloted.
Efreet Nacht, hands down. It's so edgy I can't help myself.
Me using the Gelgoog:
_Sooper fas_
The enemy using a ball:
_No_
Of course i will pick custom gouf. And im the feddie guy
Lmao the Zudah is literally the Ferrari F355 of mobile suits
Gouf Custom. Lots of toys giving high versatility and lethality.
Fell in love with the Gouf Custom. Definitely my choice if I was an ace pilot.
You left out Lance Garfield's Gouf custom. Man was a beast even with one arm. You know you stuff though. Color me impressed.
I'd pilot a GM sniper II though because it'd wipe the floor with this whole list
Gouf for sure, just so many options when it comes to how to attack a problem
definitely the Gouf custom
Gotta give biggest props to the Efreet Schneid for it's personal history and for not just surviving the battle of Torrington in 0096, but surviving contact with the Byarlant Custom from that same battle.
The Efreet has some nice armaments. Glad that in the story of the U.C. saga Zeon re-considered modifying the Zudah.
And add to that, those So-called Ace suits, were used by top pilots, but once they were destroyed,so did the arc pilots in most of them
The Zudah's mistake was that it wasn't painted red!
Favorite is still the Gouf Custom, Perfect for Urban Combat, Close Quarters Combat, plus Flexabile Armaments. Plus it gave me one of my all time favorite Gundam battles
The Efreet is a close 2nd, however outside the EXAM equip one I haven't seen enough action with them to give a full complement
"Your dirty tricks are no match for gundam's immense POWER"
I love your videos in general, but I think the bit I like most is that each one starts with “this program is brought to you by our sponsors” in Japanese.
I'd go for the Gouf Custom..
Versatility is what got me to love it. I auto picked it in every Gundam game that it's on. (usually Gundam VS series)
Love the content! I would be in a high mobility zaku.
Gelgoog Marine Ace variant is my favorite suit. The one Char used was beautiful.
By the way, EMS -10 is a rubbish design, which a lot of people like and defend. I say if you have the effort to build EMS- 10, why not MS- 09 Dom?
hands down, gouf custom
1 like button is not enought for this channel! keep up the good work XD
Gouf.....I would go with the Gouf if I was a Zeon ace.
The Gouf for sure
I'm a little sad that no Federation units were on this list. Oh well, maybe next time.
The BD unit 1 or 3 could have made it on here. But I guess not...
The BD units weren't mass production though. All of the EXAM units were unique, that's why the plot of the series was about destroying all of the units.
Zeon bias
fuck EFF pigs
the thing is that most writers focused more on zeeks rather than federation due to their fucked up logistics rather than streamlining MS designs. I do agree that there is a large lack of Ace non-gundam units in the Federation. Though, it shows that the late war GM models proved well on an Ace pilot's hand.
That is the most intimidating thumbnail I have ever seen.
Love the gouf custom
You forgot a variation of Gouf suits and the one I'd take over any other Gouf Flight type.
the story of the Zudah F is sound so awesome . Two rejected mobile suits to create a pretty formidable and badass looking one
God this was amazing, hope for Feddies part to this video series and hands down I will pick the Efreet, most preferably have one customized for all around combat
Gouf Custom for me all the way.
This ain't no Zaku, son.
What about the Gundam type mobile suits from 8th MS Team aren’t they mass produced units or did they just not do anything remarkable(like were they just fancy GMs), I’m not familiar with anything outside of the main series or OVAs so I wouldn’t know
JRizzle8921 They were literally spare parts put to good use. Never meant for mass production, they knew they had a small and finite number of suits.
Gundam [G] is just GM with Gundam head and it's used to scare the enemy who already heard about its exploits.
I would pilot the Gouf. Just so classy!
Gouf Custom for me. I've been a fan of it ever since high school.
Damn, zudah f look sick af!!
Gouf for me
And with all of this cool suits,Char still choose Zaku II as his best suit and finally turned into a suit that Char didn't pilot, the Psycho Zaku...What a history
A reminder that Char's Zaku came from stock Zaku. The only difference is that Char reprogrammed the response time of his Zaku to fit with his piloting skill. Also he's naturally talented in piloting mobile suit.
Psycho Zaku is from an alternate UC which is not even related to 0079 we all knew. The correct one is High Mobility Type which is Psycho Zaku is based from.
The Gouf is my go-to any time I do a Zeon campaign.
Side note: the heat rod is broken as F@$& in early games!
M'Quve's personal unit is a concept that will haunt my dreams.
The ifreet is nice! I Changed my mind about the ifreet after watching this vid. Will get one HG of this :D
The little known Efreet Naughty got you my likey
