  • Listen in on this conversation with Sylvia Marr, a community member of Grants Pass and close caretaker of Grants Pass Remembrance.
We would love to hear any thoughts or ideas you have as you listen in to this conversation! Comments are not visible - but we read every one of them! And we can share comments and reflections in this section, as it fits!
Here is a brief glossary of terms you might hear come up:
*GP Remembrance: Grants Pass Remembrance (from Sundown to Sunrise) is a truth and reconciliation coalition addressing our community's history as a Sundown Town. We seek to reconcile our history as a Sundown Town in order to create a new identity as a Sunrise Community. We partner with Oregon Remembrance's Sunrise Project to do this work locally.
*Sundown town: Sundown Towns were communities that purposefully excluded African Americans and other racial minorities from living in, or simply passing through, their community through a culture of fear, violence, and intimidation.
*Sunrise Community: A Sunrise Community is a community that has engaged in a reconciliatory process around their history as a Sundown Town. A community that has written a new ending to their story as a Sundown Town, one of becoming a community in which everyone can feel safe, respected, and at home.
