- Hi! This is kind of a part 2 to the crochet patchwork cardigan video (linked below). In this video, I showed how I crochet the squares, ribbing and also assemble the cardigan together.

So relatable

My dumbass thought I could focus on a project long enough to finish this. It's been a day and I've made 6 squares, my joints are dying and I need more yarn
I'm a size XL for most clothes and the sizing I used for the squares is 20×18. It fits well for anyone who need this sizing. The squares look a little more like rectangles when they're finished but once they were sewn together it came out quite nicely 😊 I hope this helps someone.
i was looking for a comment like this! thank you! when you make the squares larger do you also have to make the other pieces bigger? or no?
hi! so you mean 20 chains and then 18 rows?
@@emilyarietta well the ribbing would be bigger if you use bigger sized squares but you really just follow the edges of the jacket. It was a lot easier to make the ribbing after I had put all the other pieces together including putting the sleeves on. Then you can just hold the ribbing up to the sides to see if it's long enough.
@@valentinarech3269 yes! It makes them look a little more like rectangles, but it still looks great!
@@tokasaisme8707 okay that makes sense, thank you so much!
To personalize the sizing, take your hip measurement and add several inches for desired fullness. Then divide the total by the number of squares you want. For example: if you want 40 inches, with 4 squares in the back and 2 each on the front sections, equals 8. Then your squares should each be 5X5 inches. Make a test square ⬛ using your hook and yarn to see how many stitches and rows make 5 inches. Make the squares needed to complete the front and back sections. Try it on and use a tape measure to determine the length you want from shoulder to wrist. Determine how many squares it will need. Follow her instructions to make and add the ribbing. Voila!
Wow! This pattern was amazing!! It was cute, clean, and easy; I appreciate how beginner friendly it was. I finished this project within a month and it was super fun the whole way through. Here's some tips I gathered for anyone else seeking to try this awesome project!!
1) The squares don't have to be 100% perfect; sure, it helps if they're even, but most of my squares were proportional. Some of my squares were 15x15, while others were 15x14 and 15x16. As long as they are within the same wheelhouse, you will get an even, smooth result.
2) On that same note, this pattern seems easily adjustable! I'm a size small is most clothing brands (140 lbs, 5'5"), and this pattern fit me like a well-loved, baggy cardigan! I feel like this pattern could also fit someone who is a size medium...BUT! If you are a different size, just change the size of the squares to fit your body. For example, if you are a size large, maybe adjust the pattern to a 16x16 or 17x17 square, and you should get the same results, but perfect for you!
3) For this project, I used a weight 4 acrylic yarn (Yarn Bee - Hobby Lobby). Each skein I used 232 yards and was 142 grams. I used 3 colors; clay, "sea green/blue", and cream. Cream was my ribbing/cuff color. For clay and green/blue, I used 3 skeins, and for cream I used 4. This means that I bought 10 skeins total. I did have yarn leftover, but they were all nice colors, so I will definitely be using them again.
Overall, this was an amazing pattern! I'm looking forward to more awesome tutorials like these in the future :)
I wish I could see your crochet :(
is it ok to use cotton yarn?
@@ilikefattigers8136 I'm sure it would be!
what if i run out of yarn to use while i'm in the middle of crocheting a square? what do i do?
@@ilikefattigers8136 No worries! There's an easy fix. I'm having a hard time explaining it with words, but here's a super helpful video on how to do it; ruclips.net/video/p6pOOKFyf-k/видео.html
I made 27 chain 21 rows to make 15x15! I'm still 20% in my progress and I'm using 4 colors. I literally just learned how to crochet a week ago so yeah this is very beginner friendly. Thank you so much for your tutorial! I've been wanting patchwork cardigan for years but no one sells it in my country so I have to make it myself 😩
Edit: I finished the cardigan in 40 days. I removed 1 square row from the sleeves and added 1 square row to the bottom so it covered my butts. I also gave my cardigan buttons!
Amazing . I made like 7 squares of the pink color in 2 days I feel so anxious about the result though afraid it won't look good , so what about yaa would you plz tell me how it's going with u since u r a beginner how many squares have u done and how does it look ? + im rlly happy that I found someone who is a beginner like mee proud of u being here keep going 😭✨️I'm not a beginner but I never crocheted something to wear and go out with 🦾
@@modysjiji RUclips didn't tell me of your reply so I'm sorry for the late response! I altered the pattern a bit. I made the length of the body (back&front panel) longer by 1 square and shortened the sleeves 1 panel. The total I made is 52 squares (iirc) plus the ribbing (i made this with buttons). It took me 40 days to complete this. I actually finished 2 weeks ago! My mom and sister said it looks like I bought it in an expensive store. I have a similar body type to Ms Halim here so the end result is like a very comfortable oversized cardigan ^^
Trust the process! I also was afraid that the cardigan will be too big but it ended up well. How about your progress? Are you done with it yet? If not, good luck!!
@@rei1200 hii,,, i wanna ask for the turning chain for the squares you did one or two? cause for hdc its usually 2 but she did only one, does it make any difference? pls help 🥺
@@niiiiniiiii.02 I did 2 chains for the turning chain! It all depends on your preference but it doesn't really affect the finished look once you sew all of the squares together
@@rei1200can you tell me how many skeins of thread were used to make those 52 squares?
0:57 making the squares
3:19 making the ribbing

10:25 assembling cardigan
thanks this helped alot ;>
You’re doing Gods work
how many balls of each color did you need?
I’m 158cm tall and usually wearing s or m size top and I follow exactly the size of square which is 15x15cm each but it turns out quite big for me especially the sleeves it’s TOO baggy (I like baggy sleeves but it was just too big) so I might need to untangle it and try to reduce one line of square on the sleeves and it might be better. Ps: my crochet hook is 4.5mm; yarn are 5 strips I use almost 6-7pcs(50g of each yarns. Hope this helps someone:)
Hello, in the end, what square measure did you use so that it doesn't look so big?
Thx
Thank you so much!!
Thank you so much
@@godshella hey so sorry I didn’t say it properly, I reduce one line of the square means one whole square(which in the video she make 3square long for sleeve but I only use 2square). Not changing any size of the square.
@@heynaomi5616i'm smaller than you (152 cm) so rather than you make the width shorter, it's the length?
Girl this was so helpful, I’ve recently been finishing up my squares and started panicking because I didn’t know how to sew everything together so definitely a big help. :)
This is my very first crochet project! So far so good( i have 20 squares done!)
we almost matching pfps?!
Thank you so much for this!!! i have just finished creating all of the squares, cuffs, and ribbings. I was so worried abt how to sew this together omg you're a life saver
omg samee!!
Glad its helpful!!
If you don’t mind me asking 😅😅 how long did it take you to make all of it??
@@I_Love_Purple222 for it me took less than 2 weeks, maybe 10 days but i have a history of crocheting so it may be different for you
@@FluffyHeartsGacha ooh okay makes sense well thank you for the response
SISS. words cannot express how grateful i am that you took the time to make an in depth tutorial, THANK YOUU SO MUCH
Glad it was helpful!!
I haven't done this yet but TIP on the squares. Block them :) there's tons of videos on how to block crochet projects to have the desired size and flatness.
Your hair on this video was so silky and gorgeous! Definitely will try crocheting my first cardigan from your tutorial. Thank you!
Huge thanks for making a part 2! It’s quite the project imo, so really cool you did it twice to help out!
I’m having trouble counting rows!! Does anyone have any tips on how to count half double rows? 😭 my square looks way too big but I’m only counting 17 when it’s supposed to be 18.
Buy a stitch marker this helps me a lot because I get distracted easily.
I used to bring a pen and paper and write each stitch hehehehe
It's beginner friendly absolutely! But it's my first problem and it's taken me about 3 months because I don't do it every day and I'll do it for 2-3 hours at a time
Hey, im just happy to see a sequel. Thank you for your hard work ^7^
And thanks you for the tutorial
MUCHAS GRACIAAAS, me ayudó muchoooo jeje
Hi! Just wanna ask what size of ply of yarn did you use for this cardigan?
Casi terminado! Yo uso siempre XS, soy bajita, y utilicé cuadrados de 12x12cm (como 22 cadenetas). Solo tuve que añadirle otra fila de cuadrados hacia abajo para que no quedara muy cropped, pero queda perfecto. Si no tienes mucho tiempo… a mí me llevó 2 meses. Pero merece la pena! ❤
Hola! Cuantos gramos te tomo? Y de que medidas te quedo?
English is not even my language, but your explanations are great) thank you! Lookinf for making my own cardigan with the help of your video!♥
Not me starting this and then realising after doing all 51 squares that I have been doing the half double crochet flip wrong and skipping 2 stitches instead of 1 😭
I'm 1,52cm tall and normally wear extra small clothes, does anyone have any ideas if this cardigan will run too big and how I can make one for myself that fits?
do you think this would work out with just a single color? i want to make a pink cardigan and this is the easiest tutorial i've found :(
I want to make this but my squares always end up getting shorter. Idk why. Help??
Does anyone know the measurements for the cardigan she made? Cuz I’m about 5’7 with long limbs so should I make slightly bigger squares?
The sleeves are really really long with the squares being 15x15 cm. The cardigan she made is for a US xs/s so depending on what clothing size you are, you shouldn’t have to change the size of the squares but maybe add an extra row of squares for the main body of the cardigan!
Hope this helps!!
thank you for the thorough instruction!! I like your pattern so much!!
out of topic but your hair is so gorgeous!
Omg someone help me!
How can I make this cardigan for a bigger size? I am very new to making cloths and crochet!! Pls help❤🥺
Such a great project and I'm so excited for how it is turning out! I did give myself a tough challenge by doing 3 different color groupings (blues, yellows, and pinks) and switching color EVERY row of each square to create a striped patchwork effect!!!
i wish i could see how that turned out
@@ggaylor9 It ended up as a throw blanket! Looked great, I just made each square too big to make a sweater!
I am actually confused with the size 😅
hi! I was just wondering what yarn to use, since I’d rather go somewhere else for yarn! is any type of yarn that isn’t chunky good, or do u have suggestions.
In the video she used weight 4 cotton yarn but I don’t think the type of yarn matters but the weight will bc it will create different sizes
De qué tamaño queda el Cardigan ?
Sirve como para una talla M?
O para una persona de 1,50 m?
El cardigan en el video es XS (lo siento. No sé mucho español)
일주일만에 가디건 완성했어요. 입어보니 정말 예쁘네요❤ 좋은 영상 감사합니다~~😍😍😍
I made a cardigan in a week. it's really pretty❤ Thank you for the great video😍😍😍
Wouldn't it be easier to crochet the ribbing on after the squares are connected instead of sewing it on? Just curious if anybody tried it that way. Seems like a lot of extra work to measure the length of it and then to sew it on after but maybe there's a reason and it wouldn't work if i tried crocheting it straight on the cardigan? Or am i just lazy?😟
Actually the RUclipsr @Ikoxun did this in her Fall Patchwork cardigan, & it seemed much simpler & basic, she also explains it much better!❤️
guys!! im like a S and i made 25 chains and 16 rows to make like 14:14 cm!!
Would it work to add buttons to this? Or because there's the gap in the middle, would that make it look odd?
it's the most understandable tutorial of the cardigan
when working in the second row, shall i go through the front loop, back loop or both?
Pls help me out! What size crochet yarn have u used? Like is it (7.00 mm or 8.00 mm)
Um working on mine now apparently I made 20 squares 😊 and um left with 25 squares i have to do. In total i should have 45 squares based on my size
What type of thread is used?
ماشاء الله شرح بالتفصيل.شكرا
Merci
I'm gonna start making sqaures with a little change in squares design wishme luck guys😫✨
Good luck
How long should the squares be in cm or inches cause i don't know what size my yarn is😅
It took me six months of non consistent work but I finally finished my cardigan ! I cannot put any picture here, I chose two different tones of blue, then white, for the squares. Thank you very much for this video, I love my cardigan so much 🥰
Would it be possible to add button holes to the ribbing that goes down the middle of the cardigan> I really want to add buttons but not sure how to
Could you put the measurements on the description? About how long the square are? Please...
I’m the original video, each square measured 15 cm by 15 cm
Im less than halfway through a jumper project but already excited about this one!!
Thank you very much for helping me a lot, but it took me time to know the measurement of squares
wow that was very descriptive & helpful! thank you :)
what size of hook should I use for this? i’m planning to start my first ever crochet project. please help. 🥺
Gonna want to
at 08:25 is that left arm or right arm? and how i should do the other arm i dont get it
for the cuffs, there are gaps at the end of the rows, how do i prevent that or fix that?
is slip-stitching the squares together also okay?
Probs, I tried it with another project when I lost my needle, and if you're careful it comes out seamlessly. I almost prefer it to using a needle tbh
@@JustRaven00 i ended up slip-stitching and it turned out great!! thanks for the advice even tho i finished a few weeks ago
@@shyshyshy9956 glad it worked out for you in the end!
Hiii...for the exact same size of the square..may i use the granny square blocking board only??!!
So I'm a beginner and I need help 😅
I've been looking into to crocheting loool, but I do have a question- does the size of the crochet matter?
Of the hook ?
@@fatimahm5995 yep ! I figured out it actually does matter depending on the size of yarn loool
For this pattern I subtracted a top layer and a side layer for the back panel and I kept the two front ones the same and same with the sleeves and it’s a bit big but I still love it!
(I am a small in women’s clothing)
Guys help me
Does it have to be exactly 15 by 15?
Or can some squares be 14 by 15 and 15 by 16?
How many do you chain for the cuffs?
How much yarn l need to sew the squares together??
What size Will it be?
I have a problem. I’m using a different type of thickness for yarn and so the size of everything is different if I used the exact pattern. I’ve already made the squares in the size they’re supposed to be in so there’s no problem with that, but I don’t know the width of the ribbing in cm. She only says the length in cm, never mentions the width. So if anybody who’s already made this cardigan could measure the width of the ribbing that would be great!
Hi...how many chain stitches does the base stich need for ribbing....not specified the chain count
PLISSS ANYONE CAN EXPLAIN HOW TO ASSEMBLING THE SLEEVES? I STILL DONT GET IT 😭😭
Hey, I'm XS and I don't know what size to make the squares, someone help me, I'd like it to be ower shize so I need squares for such a size that the whole sweater will turn out to be a size S Somebody help please.❤
Hey, just wanted to know what colours are used in the cardigan in the thumbnail? Found the link for materials but id like the same colours
This us soo cute!!! I want to start it but I don't know the types of yarn sights and categories. Can anyone ease advise on what type and weight of yarn is the best for this result!
U have such straight squares but mine are so wobbly and i dont know why they are not straight like yours and it makes me scared that it will ruin the whole project please help
Does the rows of ribbings equal with the overall stitches in squares?
Hola podrías traducir al español Gracias
What yarn?
Hi! Does someone happen to know the width of the ribbing and the cuffs? I’m using a different yarn and a different hook size, so the chain length isn’t exactly the same…
Yes, me too that is confusing
She does give you some measurements. Square is supposed to be 15x15 cm so make one for trial. I made one with the chain and row count she gave and measured it with tape and figured out I have to add st chains then checked rows as I was making it to reach that 15 cm. After that I just wrote down what it ended up being and repeated. For ribbings, again, I just checked the lenght with measuring tape and for width I already knew how much chains I had to add from the squares experience (or you can simply adjust how you like them). Hope this helps a little.
I have a question about the back banel so I did 4 rows and it became big for my back because i wear XS when i buya shirt or a jacket so do I stop for the back banel or complete a 5th row?
You make it look so easy… i did one Square in fricking 2 hours. It will take probably a lot of work and time tho🥱
30 squares in and it still almost takes me 2 hours per square and I've been at it for 2/3 months, but you got this ! With enough good shows or podcasts to watch/listen to you'll be ok :')
For the sleeve, instead of 3×4 squares, can i make it into 3×3 squares?? Bcs for me, the sleeve are pretty but it's too baggy for my liking😅...pls help me guys😓
this also happened to me 😭!! i wanted to remove one line of squares but idk which row i have to remove, it's either become 2x4 or 3x3. And it's been a year since u commented, what did u do to your cardigan?? 😄
i did my squares a 22 by 18 like she said in the original video and the squares look big but i want my cardigan to be longer. how many squares do you think i would need?
Just add squares at the bottom until u like the lenght
Would it fit a size M/L?

Can you please tell how many bundle of yarn do i have to buy and what size is required for this? please
How much grams of yarn do you use?
