I'm a size XL for most clothes and the sizing I used for the squares is 20×18. It fits well for anyone who need this sizing. The squares look a little more like rectangles when they're finished but once they were sewn together it came out quite nicely 😊 I hope this helps someone.

    • @tokasaisme8707

@@emilyarietta well the ribbing would be bigger if you use bigger sized squares but you really just follow the edges of the jacket. It was a lot easier to make the ribbing after I had put all the other pieces together including putting the sleeves on. Then you can just hold the ribbing up to the sides to see if it's long enough.

To personalize the sizing, take your hip measurement and add several inches for desired fullness. Then divide the total by the number of squares you want. For example: if you want 40 inches, with 4 squares in the back and 2 each on the front sections, equals 8. Then your squares should each be 5X5 inches. Make a test square ⬛ using your hook and yarn to see how many stitches and rows make 5 inches. Make the squares needed to complete the front and back sections. Try it on and use a tape measure to determine the length you want from shoulder to wrist. Determine how many squares it will need. Follow her instructions to make and add the ribbing. Voila!

Wow! This pattern was amazing!! It was cute, clean, and easy; I appreciate how beginner friendly it was. I finished this project within a month and it was super fun the whole way through. Here's some tips I gathered for anyone else seeking to try this awesome project!!
    1) The squares don't have to be 100% perfect; sure, it helps if they're even, but most of my squares were proportional. Some of my squares were 15x15, while others were 15x14 and 15x16. As long as they are within the same wheelhouse, you will get an even, smooth result.
    2) On that same note, this pattern seems easily adjustable! I'm a size small is most clothing brands (140 lbs, 5'5"), and this pattern fit me like a well-loved, baggy cardigan! I feel like this pattern could also fit someone who is a size medium...BUT! If you are a different size, just change the size of the squares to fit your body. For example, if you are a size large, maybe adjust the pattern to a 16x16 or 17x17 square, and you should get the same results, but perfect for you!
    3) For this project, I used a weight 4 acrylic yarn (Yarn Bee - Hobby Lobby). Each skein I used 232 yards and was 142 grams. I used 3 colors; clay, "sea green/blue", and cream. Cream was my ribbing/cuff color. For clay and green/blue, I used 3 skeins, and for cream I used 4. This means that I bought 10 skeins total. I did have yarn leftover, but they were all nice colors, so I will definitely be using them again.
Overall, this was an amazing pattern! I'm looking forward to more awesome tutorials like these in the future :)

Thank you so much for your tutorial! I've been wanting patchwork cardigan for years but no one sells it in my country so I have to make it myself 😩
Edit: I finished the cardigan in 40 days. I removed 1 square row from the sleeves and added 1 square row to the bottom so it covered my butts. I also gave my cardigan buttons!

@@modysjiji RUclips didn't tell me of your reply so I'm sorry for the late response! I altered the pattern a bit. I made the length of the body (back&front panel) longer by 1 square and shortened the sleeves 1 panel. The total I made is 52 squares (iirc) plus the ribbing (i made this with buttons). It took me 40 days to complete this. I actually finished 2 weeks ago! My mom and sister said it looks like I bought it in an expensive store. I have a similar body type to Ms Halim here so the end result is like a very comfortable oversized cardigan ^^
Trust the process! I also was afraid that the cardigan will be too big but it ended up well. How about your progress? Are you done with it yet? If not, good luck!!

I have a problem. I’m using a different type of thickness for yarn and so the size of everything is different if I used the exact pattern. I’ve already made the squares in the size they’re supposed to be in so there’s no problem with that, but I don’t know the width of the ribbing in cm. She only says the length in cm, never mentions the width. So if anybody who’s already made this cardigan could measure the width of the ribbing that would be great!

Hi! Does someone happen to know the width of the ribbing and the cuffs? I’m using a different yarn and a different hook size, so the chain length isn’t exactly the same…

She does give you some measurements. Square is supposed to be 15x15 cm so make one for trial. I made one with the chain and row count she gave and measured it with tape and figured out I have to add st chains then checked rows as I was making it to reach that 15 cm. After that I just wrote down what it ended up being and repeated. For ribbings, again, I just checked the lenght with measuring tape and for width I already knew how much chains I had to add from the squares experience (or you can simply adjust how you like them). Hope this helps a little.
