- A lot being said right now about Princess Diana and her eating disorder. I cooked for her for fifteen years, through the "dark times" and also once she had her life back on track. I made this video because I was there through this and wanted people to know that she did recover and was healthy eating... even fooling Princes' William and Harry along the way :)
I spent 15 years cooking for Princess Diana, through her "dark years" and also her "happy years" This vid is about the happy years.

Just to say, as someone who's suffered an eating disorder, I really appreciate how you don't share what Diana ate when she was in the binging cycle. People often find it shameful and it's wonderful that you respect her privacy.
I’m happy you’re doing better now.
same and i also find that really touching and endearing. i have a lot of respect for this guy.
It should the bare minimum but yea
I didn't even know that people ate different photos during their binging cycles. Thank you for that input!
Yes! I am a former bulimic and I would hate it if people talked to about my eating (and eating related) habits during that time...
You were probably the only man who did make her happy. I'm sure you miss her!
Wow... Can't believe I recognize a Joey-fan outside of the Joey stream chat. Hello :D
I think her butler was a good friend of hers too.

Your loyalty to Diana is touching. Thank you for sharing your stories of this beautiful lady.
Thank you so much!
@darren this video was uploaded on my birthday
Your respect for Diana makes you the greatest friend one could possibly desire. Loyal, caring and trustworthy. I can see the emotions flowing when you cook the dishes she used to enjoy. I am sure she watches over you. ✨💖 Love from Belgium
Hear, hear. I can only imagine that some of those edits are to dab a tissue to your eyes. New subscriber, Chef McGrady and LOVING your videos, sir.
Ty for honoring our princess and only discussing her happy times. Keep the great recipes and stories coming 😋
As someone who has struggled with bulimia, thank you for protecting her dignity.
Chef McGrady, thank you for speaking so openly about Diana. Because she's gone, she's been the target of so many unfair allegations. She was a real and complex person with faults and virtues. Like the rest of us. But she was a very kind soul and a fantastic mother. Thanks for remembering her to us with thoughtfulness and affection.

I would love to see these stories reenacted on The Crown for Season 5 of Diana and Darren. Seeing her conquer her bulimia and having a healthy relationship with food would be an amazing scene.
YES PLEEEEEASE! I would love that so much. We need Darren!
Oh I really would love to see Darren in season 5 and I’m sure he would be a hit with the audience
Yes, I would love to see Darren, especially knowing now that he held prince Harry as a baby while Princess Diana ate her cereal.
A very humanising way to depict the staff who work in the palace.
Aaaand… Sean Harris got cast as Darren for the upcoming movie “Spencer” about Diana. Can’t wait to see that!
I’ll be honest, Darren. I was a bit nervous when I saw this title. I was fearful I’d end up being disappointed with you. But...you handled this so tastefully. And I actually think it’s a positive video to have been made and may help some individuals. Not just “hey guys, I was the royal chef for Diana during her bulemic years! This is the stuff I cooked”, but a conversation about her issues and her eventual success in overcoming that part of her life. Well done.
Agreed
hear, hear!
It was an intentional clickbait. The title was unnecessary.
You have managed to talk about your accounts about Diana and the royals in both a professional manor, but showing fond memories too. Thank you for sharing the world into this part of Diana's life by celebrating one of the ways she was able to overcome her issues and how she was enjoying a meal with her family.
This was done so very respectfully. You knew her in a way that no one else did & it's clear that you two had a genuine friendship. Thank you for keeping her secrets.
I’m so glad Princess Diana had you , You were a breathe of fresh air for her.
You made a difference to her!!
We all loved the People’s Princess!!
You help make her life better!!
America loved her too.

you can just tell he kept her heart safe. such a good man. i wish we had more people in the world who make others feel safe like chef darren does.
You are wonderful! Just a tip: you don’t need the background music. Just you is great! :-)
I can't imagine watching season 4 is easy for anyone who knew the Royal Family. So thank you, for giving us a stream of the truth. Her legacy deserves this, as do her two boys.
I love how honorably you still act towards Princess Diana and don't focus or exploit on times you know were hard for her
Even being from America I loved Diana. I remember the day she passed. It was truly heartbreaking. I still watch documentaries and cry about her. She was such a wonderful person. She wanted nothing but love and a family. Thank you for showing her the kindness and appreciation she deserved.
What a truly lovely man!
aww, thank you
She lives on..Not only through her children?
but through kind people like you. Also this is Mother’s Day in England today
Hello how are you doing 😊
Watching "The Crown" brought me here.
Me too
I don’t know why I cried watching this, so sorry for losing your friend
I had the biggest crush on Princess Dianna when I was younger. So beautiful. May She Rest In Peace.
Well it is just not you guys he whole world did
Except Charles fans
when you mentioned princess diana talking to you when she ate her bread and butter pudding i began to cry. the look in your eyes touched my heart. it sounds like she trusted you and cared for you too. your channel is lovely and you seem so genuine and passionate about food and i love that. thank you for this lovely trip into your memories 💕
This man has more respect for people with EDs than any doctor I’ve met. He sees a whole person outside of it and views the behaviors as a reflection of what’s going on which takes people years to grasp. Well dome
i enjoy the Royal family story, love DIANNA,good memories, thank you,i hope her children can watch you channel!
Wow to be a chef for a person struggling with bulimia, you're a savior!
Darren could you please share your bread an butter pudding? It would be so kind an thoughtful of you do that for me as well as others.
"that...dreaded broccoli" LOL, you can tell Chef Mcgrady is a good soul
Mr. Darren, you are a true friend and professional.
What a role model!
Maybe you could show us some healthy, more low calorie recipes, given the fact that you beautifully did that for Princess Diana. Thank you 🙌🏽

The Only truly Royal worth admiring! Beautiful inside and out Princess Diana!💐
I wasn't aware that you were still cooking for the former princess when she was in the accident that ended her life. (Sorry about your loss, and for those precious boys, now men. I confess, though shocked when it happened, I didn't think of how it impacted you all.) Time and grace does tend to soften the raw edges and brings healing. Thank you for sharing your story with us.
Hello how are you doing 😊
You are a special fellow..a Royal Gentleman yourself
Thanks for helping Diana. It must have been hard for you when she passed away. Your recipes are incredible! I used to suffer from bulimia and your healthy recipes really inspire us to want to eat better. Thanks 🙏
You must have not devastated when Princess Diana past away! The world was shocked and saddened. I remember where I was at the time. You show your love for her whenever you speak of her. I can see your pain today. I’m sorry you lost her. ❤️
🌹
As much as you cherished the time with the Princess, I'm sure she cherished her time with you just as much!! ❤️❤️
I hope so!
You can tell how much he truly cared for the royal family. He seems like such a sweet guy.
I wasn’t even alive when Princess Diana passed away, and I’ve never really kept up with the royal family - but your videos are really intriguing to me and I teared up at the beginning when you talked about your relationship with Diana. Thank you for all your wonderful videos, Darren! Love from NC.
I adored Diana. The Peoples Princess. So gorgeous, feminine and passionate about her causes. My heart will continue to be so sad at the loss of this lovely Princess. I still find it hard to forgive Charles and Camilla. Lovely of you to share her good times and the good foods she adored. This really is a sneak peek inside that we've never heart and brings such great memories of a life lost way too soon.
I'm glad she had Darren and other good people as chefs that where there for her during her dark days, even if they don't think they contributed much during that time.
So endearing!!
As years pass, this video is increasingly more special.
God bless Princess Diana.
I truly feel the Princess would totally approve of your wonderful memories and sharing them with us.
Hello how are you doing 😊😊
My mom always admired Princess Diana for her beauty and kindness. But I never knew she had bulimia until this year. It's pretty cool you assisted her in her healthy eating habits. Delicious and still healthy.
Terribly missed. :(
I really missed her. May she RIP😭🙌🏾
You weren't a servant to Diana, you were her friend
Amazing stories always. Thank you!
Oh Chef McGrady you make my heart both soar and break when you speak of Princess Diana and the boys. I love how much you love and cared for them. It's also really awesome that you know what Price Harry prepared when he proposed 😉
Nanny made sure the boys ate their greens! Love it! What a treasure you are!
I cooked your cottage pie for my family here in the US. Wow it was amazing thank you. I love your videos they make my day I've always been fascinated by the UK and your storys just makes me even more fascinated
I was in high-school when Lady Di was killed. I remember vividly how the boys in my class would huddle around the news-paper and read about the events of the car crash and the investegations that followed.
I am so glad to have found you Darren. You make cooking a joy again.
Lady Di was killed ?!?
@@ritahorvath8207 Died in a car accident.
I imagine it was very difficult for you to lose her. I was a small child when she married, and I got up in what was the middle of the night in my time zone, to watch the wedding on television. I was so sad when she died: for her children, for England, for those she devoted her life to helping, and to those such as yourself who served her - the Royal Princess Diana of Wales - no matter that the title was stripped from her, she was still the Queen of Hearts!
Diana lost the style "Her Royal Highness" and instead was styled Diana, Princess of Wales.
Oh how lucky were you I miss princess Diana she truly was a peoples princess Big thank you for sharing Yvonne mullion Cornwall xxx
His stories with Diana are simply beautiful and heartwarming. Thank you for sharing your story.
That’s a great memoir Chef. God bless you.
