  • Enjoy as we take you round what we think makes a great off road caravan.
    Coromal Corvair Pioneer 547
    2005 Pop Top, Tandem Axle with a tapered rear end
    Chassis: Solid
    Suspension: Wishbone Independant with Leaf Springs
    Tyres: Hifly Vigerous AT 31" Chinese made tyres but so far we have had zero issues with them.
    Interior: Shower/Toilet combo which has been unreal, I (Kurt) was sceptical at first however there’s nothing like waking up in the morning and not having to walk to the nearest toilet. The cubicle also double as a storage for chairs and tables.
    Bike Rack: We have the Thule lockable bike rack, this rack is unreal!! We have a steel and aluminium bike and the amount of corrugations we have been on we are surprised the rack has not failed! If you're planning on putting bikes on the back make sure you put them in a bag when going off road or they will look like the above picture and never work the same again.
    Water: We have 120L of water on board which is not much when you have to account for showers, so if we know we're going to be camped up for a while we get out our 60L Bladder and fill that up. The bladders take up no room at all, are very robust and pretty cheap!
    We had a Microwave installed when we first bought it, however soon removed it. Being on the road we knew that we wouldn't use it and that it’s just wasted space. We replaced it with a basket for all of Amyee's shoes instead.
    Another mod we have recently done is screwed fishing rod holders to the inside roof of the caravan. This is a great way to access them as you can grab them and start fishing in an instant. It also eliminates dust in the expensive reels and also is less like to get stolen. When we are ready to sell we will simply take them down and fill the holes with putty or a sticker.
    We have installed 4 x LED strip lights pointing upwards as well. This provides us with twice the amount of light then the standard 12V fittings and they look fantastic.
    We also installed a Wireless reversing camera on the back, these are great for knowing if someone is tailgating you and for those tricky camp spots. They are very easy to install as it works over Wi-Fi signal so you don’t have to run lengthy cables.
    Check out our Caravan interior tour. This caravan has everything we need for our time travelling around Australia. We have packed it full of mods some including a surfboard roof mount, roof mounted fishing rod holders and improved LED Lighting.

    Thanks for the look around your van. We've got a Coromal 445 (2001) that is fitted with the "offroad" pack as they called it then. 6" chassis with aluminium frame, huge wheels (single axle). Recently installed a 12v fan in the pop top (Fantastic fan) and works well. Hope your travels continue to go well and keep up the good work on the "reports" you present. Stay safe.

    Think about a pair of clips on poptop roof at the back. Then a cheap tarp to the ground. It gets the sun off the back and the window can be opened

    • @Sparkysontheloose

    Great videos, thanks guys. Nice to see a more realistic set-up than those with limitless budgets. Quick questions. 1. Air/Con? Worth it, if on a big trip? 2. Cooking. Do you cook outside more when it's hot? BBQ or open fire? Outside gas outlet? Thanks heaps, happy travels.

    • @Sparkysontheloose
      @Sparkysontheloose  5 лет назад +1

      Cheers Ryan. Air con is a must if you have the option to get it, especially up north. We use a portable fire pit for cooking outside but mainly cook indoors. It's only a drama when you're cooking something smokey or smelly. An outside bbq would make things a lot easier rather then fire.

    Just wondering if you have had the van over the weigh bridge, we have the same Van and found that coromals scales arent real accurate, the van is heavier than complianced, as a result we have a few issues keeping it within weight limits at times, and are not carrying as much gear as you guys.

    • @Sparkysontheloose

      These aren't silly questions goz. As for our setup we don't hear them at all really. I can't see it being an issue regardless. Im guessing if you put rubber in between the leafs then that would stop the noise.

    • @Sparkysontheloose
      @Sparkysontheloose  5 лет назад

      If you can get a cover to wrap the whole bike then it should be fine. The dust had gotten into the gears and bearings. The salty air rusted all the cables and chains, both bikes had the same damage.

    I select videos for their title. Five minutes into the video the only thing you have talked about that is specific to the trailer is the shower. In addition you say this video will only be about the exterior. How can you answer the question (title) and not discuss the interior?

    • @Sparkysontheloose
      @Sparkysontheloose  5 лет назад +4

      We have already done an interior video. In our opinion the inside of a the van doesn't reflect the reasons why we chose the caravan for off road reason. When you're looking for an off road van the main things you should be looking for are discussed in this video. We believe the title reflects the video.
