I always end up here when I want to learn a song properly, and you have covered it. It's just the most proffesional and comprehensive channel on RUclips when it comes to guitar tutorials. Good, clean camera angles, and explanations that are easy to understand. If only I had something like this when I started playing guitar in 1985 😅
Agreed. I started playing in 1982 and learned lots of songs over the years that are ALMOST right. This channel is a great reference to be sure I'm getting every note 😉
Yes!! Thank you Carl. Thin Lizzy is so underrated as far as 70s rock goes. The melodies and harmonies Gorham and Robertson came up with are so inspiring. Phil Lynotts songwriting is way ahead of its time. Brian Robertson is the guitar hero that should've been. They should be mentioned with Zeppelin, Purple, Sabbath and bands of that stature. They're usually lumped in with the mid-late 70s bands like Bad Company, Aerosmith or even with the NWOBHM bands like Maiden and Priest. (Not one band mentioned is bad company to keep... just saying). I discovered them with Jailbreak, but I went full bore after that masterpiece. Fighting, Johnny the Fox, Nightlife... all worth any guitar players ear at least once. Would love to see you breakdown "Emerald" or "Still in Love with You". Emerald is a rhythm and picking lesson in itself. What a riff. Of course "Boys are Back in Town" is a excellent choice too. The chord progression and harmony interplay is valuable for anyone to learn. Thank you again. You made my day with your Randy Rhoads vids and this just validates why I subscribe. Most of the time I already know the basics of the song but you always find fingerings or bits n pieces I overlooked or need to add. Your ear for detail is why RUclips lessons are a good thing. Nice to see after the hack you're going full speed ahead. Not my first comment praising your work and effort, and wont be my last sir. Please know your selfless sharing of your knowledge and talent doesn't go unnoticed or unappreciated. Thanks again.
What a great and thorough lesson! I went from playing portions of the harmonies that weren't entirely correct, to having a complete understanding of the entire song and all the harmonies. Thanks Carl.
Carl, I have watched your channel a few times and yesterday I saw 2 vids that were about your metting EVH and one where you invite us into your home. My respect for you just went thru the roof and I hit subscribe right away!!!! I then checked out some vids of lessons and you are great teaching as well and I hope you continue!! Thank you for all Carl, you are ACES brother!! oop, i see a typo but I am lazy right now
I was in a band a few years ago, and always loved playing this one, along with "Whiskey", I could play them all night long! Right, where's my guitar, I might give "Roisin Dubh (Black Rose) A Rock Legend" a go!
Awesome thanks Carl..i love the patterns in the verses. Thanks again for breaking this down. I think the Thin Lizzy guitarists are totally underrated. Bass is my main squeeze but I also play guitar. This song is a banger..
Time to learn this one I guess! Would love to see a lesson on their song “Black Rose”, I know it for the most part but feel like I need some help on the more challenging parts!
Playing Thin Lizzy on anything except a Les Paul is a capital offence. Even the only acceptable alternative, an SG, earns you a swift kick in the balls.

I love your video´s are great, reaaly enjoy it. see alot of them because I´m new in your channel, so it´s a lot to see. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND GREAT EFFORT IN YOU CHANNEL !!
...aaaaaaand suddenly I'm back in my college 'daze'. Thanks Carl! BTW I think only this song has more harmony overdubs on the outro than Peace of Mind, but I could be mistaken....
Was a while ago I heard this one. Nice homework for the weekend… BTW when are you doing GnR Locomotive? There are hardly any tutorials on it and you would nail it. Many thanks again for a great lesson and sorry for the Loco-persistence-Motive 🤣
Advise from a music teacher: Can you put on a click with a simple metronome when you play so it can give us a better sense for the timing please? Its never too late to start doing it! Good luck!
It would be real cool if you taught us how to play tonight by randy rhoads,, it's the only randy song left I wanna learn and you've taught me most of them. Probably over half the songs I know came from you actually
Hey I don't know if you take requests or will ever read this but can you do Night of the Demon by Demon? Such a great forgotten song with a small but crazy solo in the middle.
Could you use four looper pedals with two guitarists to do all six parts? Start first two parts and then set the loopers, then do the second set of harmonies and set the 3rd and 4th looper pedals and then do the 5th and 6th harmonies live without pedals? I know that this is fairly complicated too but maybe for a two guitar band it is possible to do all 6 harmonies?

See my already written comment to you my brother!! You rock and have a new subscriber!!
