  • Make sure to check out our website at www.PingSkills... - In this video we will discuss and demonstrate how you can generate a brushing contact on the ball. A brushing contact is ideal for creating as much spin as possible during a rally.
Thanks for watching! We love making table tennis videos and hope they'll help you understand the game of table tennis. Make sure you subscribe to keep up with our latest videos.

Could you also make a video about how to have a good down-the-line forehand? I find your tutorials so helpful!

imo diagonal serve is better cos it opens up the space in the opponents side

Recently I won against a player who was from a school that has very high level table tennis players, turns out that guy was the number one player on their team. All I did to win was implement my service tactics and use my super spinny forehand loop against backspin. The high level player always barely missed the block. It makes me proud to have gotten this remarkable achievement.
    P. S the score was 3-1

Good content! What I miss from the video is mentioning the speed of the rubber(bat) when the ball has backspin. The good expalanation with the disc could be enhanced a little by dealing with the case when it is spinning backwards. In that case if the peripheral speed of the disc at contact point is higher than your speed of your brushing bat the disc (ball) will go down unfortunatelly. So you have to 'kill' the underspin of the ball by your brushing speed. And that is the hard task, because the more speed your bat/hand has the more chance to miss the brushing point: resulting a thicker hit or no contact at all.

0:50 Brush up the ball or over the top of the ball
    1:20 practice on CD suggestion
2:10 roll ball off the table nice and fast and then hit it.
    ball over a pole exercise
My general suggestion for table tennis:
    See the ball,
    Focus on the ball,
    Then hit the ball.

Great video as always. I often find that I hit the ball too directly although I try to just „brush“. I guess more training is in order….

Hi, Alois. Hope you're having a good day.
I'm a fairly beginner player, but there's a recurring issue in my game I've noticed just recently. Whenever I try to play strategically, I find that I just can't focus. Typically, I'll just subconsciously hit the ball wherever it's easiest, even when my opponent is in an obviously disadvantageous position. It's like I enter this weird state during rallies where I can't focus enough to aim the ball somewhere difficult for my opponent to hit, but I can focus enough to position myself for a shot. Do you have any tips for this? I'm thinking of trying to simplify my game for now to focus less on shots, more on strategy and placement until I can get used to it. What do you think, is this a good idea?

That sounds like a good idea. If you can would you post this question on the PingSkills website. We check there more often and when we answer you question there it can help all the other readers. Thanks, Jeff.

How far does your bat need to drop in preparation for the top spin? My friend says I drop it my bat too low under the table and cause miss-hits and are late to the ball probably because of my tennis background and mentality.

Great question. There's no hard and fast rule but as a rough guide you can drop it down to around your knee and then adjust from there. It should not cause too many problems to start low.
